An Assessment of Healthcare Workers Knowledge about COVID-19

Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by a viral infection and considered the third coronavirus emerging among human beings over the past two decades. Healthcare Workers (HCWs) are at high risk of acquiring this serious infection during providing care to patients. Therefore, it’s crucial to assess the knowledge of the HCWs about COVID-19. Methods: A multicenter cross-sectional study was conducted on HCWs working at public hospitals and Primary Healthcare (PHC) centers in the Naj.an region, KSA to evaluate the staff’s knowledge toward COVID-19. The questionnaire consisted of two parts, the first part included the demographic data, and the second part involved questions related to the COVID-19. Results: 451 HCWs participated in this study and the median of overall knowledge score was 67%. Most HCWs properly identified symptoms (82.9%), mode of transmission (78.5%), the incubation period (96.4%), the way of preventing the infection (91.5%), the COVID-19 is not same as MERS-CoV (74.3%) and availability of a vaccine against the COVID-19 (82%). However, HCWs were less likely to identify the source of COVID-19 when it was discovered in China (22.5%), the mortality rate (44.6%), and the presence of treatment (32.1%). Overall knowledge score was statistically significantly associated with profession (P = 0.034), educational level (P = 0.033), and availability of the infection control in the workplace (P = 0.006). Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrated an intermediate level of knowledge of HCWs about COVID-19. Intervention programs are urgently needed to raise the knowledge of HCWs about this global public health issue.

Introduction: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a viral infection that was first reported in Wuhan, China on 31 December 2019. This study aimed to clarify the epidemiology and clinical characteristics of 500 first COVID-19 in the Naj.an region, Saudi Arabia. Material and Methods: A multi-center retrospective study design was employed to study the first 500 confirmed COVID-19 positive cases in Naj.an province, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Data were collected from 1 March 2020 until 1 j.ly 2020 and provided by the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) department from the hospitals. Included cases were confirmed using real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Demographic, vital signs, symptoms, incubation period, travel or exposure history medical history, and comorbidities were collected. Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the association between potential risk factors associated with symptoms occurrence of COVID-19. Results: The median age of 500 COVID-19 patients was 31 years;333 (66.6%) males. A total of 34 (6.8%) were Healthcare Workers (HCWs). Out of the 500 patients, 180 (36%) had at least one comorbid disease. The most common symptoms on admission were fever 281 (56.2%), cough 266 (53.2%), shortness of breath 166 (33.2%), and malaise 113 (22.6%). Most of the patients presented with mild disease severity 310 (62%). Nationality, age, and Diabetes Miletus (DM) were independently and significantly associated with being symptomatic (P als, other nationality patients were most likely to have symptoms (β = 2.968, CI = 2.002 - 4.400, P = 0.0010). For every 1 year increase in age, the risk of being symptomatic increased by 5.8% (β = 1.045, CI = 1.033 - 1.058, P = 0.001). A Squared-Chebyshev wavelet thresholding based 1D signal compression

In this paper a square wavelet thresholding method is proposed and evaluated as compared to the other classical wavelet thresholding methods (like soft and hard). The main advantage of this work is to design and implement a new wavelet thresholding method and evaluate it against other classical wavelet thresholding methods and hence search for the optimal wavelet mother function among the wide families with a suitable level of decomposition and followed by a novel thresholding method among the existing methods. This optimized method will be used to shrink the wavelet coefficients and yield an adequate compressed pressure signal prior to transmit it. While a comparison evaluation analysis is established, A new proposed procedure is used to compress a synthetic signal and obtain the optimal results through minimization the signal memory size and its transmission bandwidth. There are different performance indices to establish the comparison and evaluation process for signal compression;but the most well-known measuring scores are: NMSE, ESNR, and PDR. The obtained results showed the dominant of the square wavelet thresholding method against other methods using different measuring scores and hence the conclusion by the way for adopting this proposed novel wavelet thresholding method for 1D signal compression in future researches.

A new empirical chart for rockburst analysis in tunnelling:Tunnel rockburst classification(TRC)

Rockburst is defined as a phenomenon with immediate dynamic instability under excavation unloading conditions of deep or high geostress *** knowledge and lack of characterizing information prevent engineers and experts from achieving appropriate prediction results related to the rockburst *** this study,a data set including 220 rockburst instances was collected for rockburst classification via the geostatistical *** update of the 2D graph,the tunnel rockburst classification(TRC)chart,was introduced based on analysing three indicators,namely,elastic energy index(Wet),tangential stress in rock mass(σ_(0)),and uniaxial compressive strength(σ_(c)).Distribution and correlation of data were drawn on 2D plot,and the boundaries of rockburst were distinguished according to the achieved interpolate points by kriging ***,the validation phase was performed using an additional set of 28 case histories obtained from several proj.cts around the *** results showed that the TRC chart with an average error percentage of 3.6%in the prediction of rockburst had a significant and effective implementation in comparison to the exiting heuristic *** the initial character of the prediction,the described chart may be a helpful tool in the first steps of design and construction.

Normal and reverse flow inj.ction-spectrophotometric determination of thiamine hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparations using diazotized metoclopramide

Simple and sensitive normal and reverse flow inj.ction methods for spectrophotometric determination of thiamine hydrochloride （THC） at the microgram level were proposed and optimized. Both methods are based on the reaction between THC and diazotized metoclopramide in alkaline medium. Beer＇s law was obeyed over the range of 10 300 and 2-90 ug/mL, the limits of detection were 2.118 and 0.839 ug/mL and the sampling rates were 80 and 95 inj.ctions per hour for normal and reverse flow inj.ction methods respectively. The application of both methods to commercially available pharmaceuticals produced acceptable results. The flow system is suitable for application in quality control processes.

Data-driven estimation of j.int roughness coefficient

j.int roughness is one of the most important issues in the hydromechanical behavior of rock ***,the j.int roughness coefficient(j.C)estimation is of paramount importance in geomechanics engineering *** show that the application of statistical parameters alone may not produce a sufficiently reliable estimation of the j.C ***,alternative data-driven methods are proposed to assess the j.C *** this study,Gaussian process(GP),K-star,random forest(RF),and extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost)models are employed,and their performance and accuracy are compared with those of benchmark regression formula(i.e.Z2,Rp,and SDi)for the j.C *** analyze the models’performance,112 rock j.int profile datasets having eight common statistical parameters(R_(ave),R_(max),SD_(h),iave,SD_(i),Z_(2),R_(p),and SF)and one output variable(j.C)are utilized,of which 89 and 23 datasets are used for training and validation of models,*** interpretability of the developed XGBoost model is presented in terms of feature importance ranking,partial dependence plots(PDPs),feature interaction,and local interpretable model-agnostic explanations(LIME)*** of results show that machine learning models demonstrate higher accuracy and precision for estimating j.C values compared with the benchmark empirical equations,indicating the generalization ability of the data-driven models in better estimation accuracy.

New empirical model to evaluate groundwater flow into circular tunnel using multiple regression analysis

There are various analytical, empirical and numerical methods to calculate groundwater inflow into tun- nels excavated in rocky media. Analytical methods have been widely applied in prediction of groundwa- ter inflow to tunnels due to their simplicity and practical base theory. Investigations show that the real amount of water infiltrating into j.inted tunnels is much less than calculated amount using analytical methods and obtained results are very dependent on tunnel＇s geometry and environmental situations. In this study, using multiple regression analysis, a new empirical model for estimation of groundwater seepage into circular tunnels was introduced. Our data was acquired from field surveys and laboratory analysis of core samples. New regression variables were defined after perusing single and two variables relationship between groundwater seepage and other variables. Finally, an appropriate model for estima- tion of leakage was obtained using the stepwise algorithm. Statistics like R, R2, R2e and the histogram of residual values in the model represent a good reputation and fitness for this model to estimate the groundwater seepage into tunnels. The new experimental model was used for the test data and results were satisfactory. Therefore, multiple regression analysis is an effective and efficient way to estimate the groundwater seeoage into tunnels.

Foam flooding using CO_(2)has emerged as a promising method for both enhanced oil recovery(EOR)and the storage of CO_(2)in geological *** study conducts a thorough analysis of the behavior of CO_(2)and N_(2)foams in bulk and porous media,utilizing bubble-scale analyses and foam flooding *** study compares the foamability and longevity of CO_(2)and N_(2)foams,with findings indicating that N_(2)foam bubbles tend to be smaller and less varied in size than CO_(2)foam bubbles,leading to increased foam ***,the study compares the half-lives of CO_(2)and N_(2)foams generated through sparging and winding methods,showing that N_(2)foam has half-lives 22 and 10 times greater than CO_(2)foam when produced using the sparging and winding methods,***,CO_(2)foam generated through the sparging method had a lower foaming volume than N_(2)foam due to CO_(2)'s *** the foam flooding experiments,N_(2)foam proved more effective in recovering oil from porous media than CO_(2)foam,thus demonstrating the effectiveness of the foam inj.ction *** results offer valuable insights into the differing performance of N_(2)and CO_(2)foam floods for EOR and CO_(2)geological storage.

Kinetic Study of Methanol Dehydration to Dimethyl Ether in Catalytic Packed Bed Reactor over Resin

Dimethyl ether (DME) is considered as a significant fuel alternative with a critical manufacturing process. Only a few authors have presented the kinetic analysis of attractive and alternative catalysts to al2O3 and/or zeolite in DME production, despite the fact that there is a large library of kinetic studies for these commercial catalysts. The purpose of this research was to contribute to this direction by conducting a catalytic test to determine kinetic parameters for methanol dehydration over sulfonic acid catalysts (resin). However, due to the relevance of the mathematical description of this process in the industry was also studied, a study of kinetics parameters and mathematical modeling of methanol dehydration in an atmospheric gas phase in a fixed bed reactor with a temperature range (90°C - 120°C) was examined. The Langmuir-Hinshelwood (L-H) model provides the best fit to experimental data, with an excellent R2 = 0.9997, and the experimental results were compared to those predicted by these models with very small deviations. The kinetic parameters were found to be in good agreement with the Arrhenius equation, with acceptable straight-line graphs. The activation energy E was computed and found to be 27.66 kj.mole, with an average variation of 0.32 percent between the predicted and calculated results. Simple mathematical continuum models (plug flow reactor PFR) showed an acceptable agreement with the experimental data.

Groutability classification of granular soils with cement grouts

This research aims to develop a methodology for applying the geostatistical method to generate a groutability classification for granular *** ensure the precision of the suggested technique,a total of 103 data samples were *** the groutability of granular soils has always been difficult because of many soil *** a result,a new two-dimensional graph,the groutability classification of granular soil(GCS)chart,was *** establishment was based on data analysis of the grain size of soil and cement-based grouts(N1 and N2),relative density(Dr)and fines content of the soil(FC),water/cement ratio of grout mixture(w/c),and grouting pressure(P),all of which have a direct impact on the groutability of soil *** geostatistical method was used to develop and compile the GCS graph based on the aforementioned parameters with the use of coefficient S,which is a coefficient of the scoring set of parameters including P,w/c,Dr,and *** validation process was carried out hierarchically,with an additional set of 30 *** proposed method has a prediction accuracy of roughly 96.7%,demonstrating a helpful *** proposed approach can be easily implemented in practical engineering situations because it has a comparable syntax to commonly used *** should be noted that the proposed formula was only tested using the data samples collected,and the applicability of the produced procedure to other situations requires more examination.
