This study investigates if the anti-tumor effect of Pterostilbene in the SKOV3 ovarian cancer(OC)cell line involves inhibition of cell metabolism and tested in this effect involves modulating AMPK and Akt-induced regulation of ***,SKOV3 cells were cultured in the humidified conditions in DMEM media for 24 h with or without increasing concentration of ***,the cells were incubated with Pterostilbene(IC_(50)=50μM)under similar conditions with or without pre-incubation with Dorsomorphin,an AMPK *** a dose-dependent manner,Pterostilbene inhibited SKOV3 cell survival and increased their lysate levels of lactate dehydrogenase(LDh)and single-stranded DnA(ssDnA).When SKOV3 cells were treated with 50μM Pterostilbene,Pterostilbene significantly suppressed cell migration and invasion,reduced lysate levels of lactic acid and the optical density of Oil Red O staining,and increased lysate glucose *** also increased levels of malondialdehyde(MDA),reactive oxygen species(ROS),and induced intrinsic cell apoptosis by upregulating protein levels of Bax and cleaved caspase-3 and reducing protein levels of ***,Pterostilbene reduced mRnA levels of sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1(SREBP-1),fatty acid synthase(FAS),acetyl CoA carboxylase-1(ACC-1),and AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK).Furthermore,Pterostilbene increased the protein levels of p-AMPK,p-p53,p-raptor,p-TSC-2,but significantly decreased protein levels of p-Akt,p-TSC-2,p-mTOR,p-S6K1,and *** with Dorsomorphin(CC)abolished all the anti-tumorigenesis effects afforded by Pterostilbene and prevented Pterostilbene-induced phosphorylation of Akt,p53,and *** conclusion,the tumorsuppressive effect of Pterostilbene in SKOV3 cells involves the induction of ROS and inhibition of dysregulation cell metabolism mainly due to AMPK-induced Akt-dependent or independent suppression of mTOR.

Background: The efficacy of octreotide to prevent postoperative pancreatic fistula(POPF) of pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD) is still controversial. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of postoperative use of octreotide on the outcomes after ***: This is a prospective randomized controlled trial for postoperative use of octreotide in patients undergoing PD. Patients with soft pancreas and pancreatic duct randomized to 2 *** I did not receive postoperative octreotide. Group II received postoperative octreotide. The primary end of the study is to compare the rate of ***: A total of 104 patients were included in the study and were divided into two randomized *** were no significant difference in overall complications and its severity. POPF occurred in 11 patients(21.2%) in group I and 10(19.2%) in group II, without statistical significance(P = 0.807). Also, there was no significant differences between both groups regarding the incidence of biliary leakage(P = 0.083), delayed gastric emptying(P = 0.472), and early postoperative mortality(P = 0.727).Conclusions: Octreotide did not reduce postoperative morbidities, reoperation and mortality rate. Also, it did not affect the incidence of POPF and its clinically relevant variants.

Background:The impact of chronic hepatitis C (ChC) on bone mineral density (BMD) has been well studied in adults with a relative paucity of data in children,especially concerning effect of treatment with pegylated interferon (PEG-IFn) plus ribavirin (RV).In the current work,we assessed prospectively changes in BMD in children with ChC before,during,and after ***:Forty-six consecutive children with noncirrhotic genotype 4 ChC were subjected to dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry at baseline,24 weeks,48 weeks of therapy and 24 weeks after ***,bone mineral content (BMC),and Z score of lumbar spine (L2-L4) were *** pubertal stage,viral load,liver function tests,serum calcium,phosphorus,alkaline phosphatase,parathyroid hormone,and liver histopathology were assessed in all included ***:Thirty (65.2%) patients had normal BMD,10 (21.7%) were at risk for low BMD,and 6 (13.1%) had low BMD for chronological *** with low BMD were significantly older (P=0.001),with higher frequency of delayed puberty than other groups (P=0.002).Baseline densitometric parameters (BMD & BMC) were significantly positively correlated with patients' age,weight,height,body mass index and hemoglobin level;while they were insignificantly correlated with basal viral load,histopathology activity index and fibrosis *** parameters improved significantly on PEG-IFn plus RV treatment,this improvement was found to be sustainable 24 weeks after ***:Low BMD is detectable in a proportion of ChC *** therapy leads to a sustainable increase in BMD.

Cancelable biometrics are required in most remote access applications that need an authentication stage such as the cloud and Internet of Things(IoT)*** objective of using cancelable biometrics is to save the original ones from hacking attempts.A generalized algorithm to generate cancelable templates that is applicable on both single and multiple biometrics is proposed in this paper to be considered for cloud and IoT *** original biometric is blurred with two co-prime ***,it can be recovered as the Greatest Common Divisor(GCD)between its two blurred *** changes if induced in the biometric image prior to processing with co-prime operators prevents the recovery of the original biometric image through a GCD ***,the ability to change cancelable templates is guaranteed,since the owner of the biometric can pre-determine and manage the minimal change induced in the biometric ***,we test the utility of the proposed algorithm in the single-and multi-biometric *** multi-biometric scenario depends on compressing face,fingerprint,iris,and palm print images,simultaneously,to generate the cancelable *** metrics such as Equal Error rate(EER)and Area and Receiver Operator Characteristic curve(AROC)are *** results on single-and multi-biometric scenarios show high AROC values up to 99.59%,and low EER values down to 0.04%.

Call admission control (CAC) and resource reservation (RR) for mobile communication are two important factors that guarantee system efficiency and quality of service (QoS) required for different services in a very scarce resource as the radio spectrum. A new scheme was proposed which extends the concepts of resource sharing and reservations for wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) systems with a unique feature of soft capacity. Voice and data traffic were considered. The traffic is further classified into handoff and new requests. The reservation thresholds were dynamically adjusted according to the traffic pattern and mobility prediction in order to achieve the maximum channel utilization, while guaranteeing different QoS constraints. The performance of proposed scheme was evaluated using Markov models. new call blocking probability, handoff call dropping probability, and channel utilization were used as benchmarks for the proposed scheme.

Rigid-viscoplastic3D finite element simulations(3D FEM)of the equal channel angular pressing(ECAP),thecombination of ECAP+extrusion with different extrusion ratios,and direct extrusion of pure aluminum were performed ***3D FEM simulations were carried out to investigate the load-displacement behavior,the plastic deformationcharacteristics and the effective plastic strain homogeneity of Al-1080deformed by different forming *** simulationresults were validated by microstructure observations,microhardness distribution maps and the correlation between the effectiveplastic strain and the microhardness ***3D FEM simulations were performed successfully with a good agreement with theexperimental *** load-displacement curves and the peak load values of the3D FEM simulations and the experimentalresults were close from each *** microhardness distribution maps were in a good conformity with the effective plastic straincontours and verifying the3D FEM simulations *** ECAP workpiece has a higher degree of deformation homogeneity thanthe other deformation *** microhardness values were calculated based on the average effective plastic *** microhardness values fitted the experimental results *** microstructure observations in the longitudinal andtransverse directions support the3D FEM effective plastic strain and microhardness distributions result in different formingprocesses.
