Combined preoperative platelet-to-lymph.cyte ratio and serum carboh.drate antigen 19–9 level as a prognostic factor in patients with.resected pancreatic cancer

Background: Carboh.drate antigen 19–9(CA19-9) is th. most frequently used tumor marker and serves as a prognostic indicator in patients with.pancreatic cancer(PC). Th. platelet-to-lymph.cyte ratio(PLR) is th.ugh. to be an inflammation-related serum marker. An elevated PLR represents increased inflammatory status and is associated with.poor prognosis in patients with.various cancers including PC. Meth.ds: Th.s study involved 103 patients with.a h.stopath.logical diagnosis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma wh. underwent pancreatectomy. Th. patients were assessed to determine th. prognostic significance of th. combination of th. PLR and CA19-9 level. Results: Based on th. receiver operating ch.racteristic analysis results, th. patients were divided into PLR h.igh.PLR ≥ 129.1) andPLRLow(PLR h.gh.CA19-9 ≥ 74.0 U/mL) and CA19-9Low(CA19-9 h. cumulative 5-year overall survival(OS) and disease-specific survival(DSS) rates significantly differed by both.th. PLR(PLR h.igh.group: 19.5% and 22.9%;PLRLow group: 39.1% and 45.9%) and CA19-9(CA19-9 h.igh.group: 19.1% and 25.6%;CA19-9Low group: 41.0% and 41.0%). We th.n divided th. patients into Groups A(PLR L ow/CA19-9Low), B(PLR Low/CA19-9h.gh.or PLRh.gh.CA19-9Low), and C(PLR h.igh.CA19-9h.gh.. Th. cumulative 5-year OS rates in Groups A, B, and C were 44.0%, 31.9%, and 11.9%, respectively( P = 0.002). Th. cumulative 5-year DSS rates in Groups A, B, and C were 47.7%, 36.4%, and 16.8%, respectively( P = 0.002). Multivariate analysis revealed th.t th. combination of th. PLR and CA19-9 was an independent prognostic factor in patients with.resected PC. Conclusions: Th. combination of th. PLR and CA19-9 is useful for predicting th. prognosis of patients with.resected PC.

Th. meth.d to increase PtRu utilization and its catalytic activity of PtRu nanoparticles supported on reduced graph.ne oxide(RGO)by avoiding its restacking was proposed with.th. aim of developing an active catalyst for a direct meth.nol fuel *** h.at treatment at 200◦C of th. GO aerogel(GOA)prepared by freeze drying of GO ice was introduced to weaken th. attractive force of th. h.drogen bonding between th. GO sh.ets followed by th. composite with.th. nanoparticles,i.e.,ketjenblack(KB),TiO_(2)and Ti_(4)O_(7),at different weigh. *** catalyst supported on th. h.at-treated GOA(RGOA),PtRu/RGOA,improved th. PtRu utilization to some extent and also increased th. ECSA and mass activity compared to th.t of PtRu/*** h.d fewer oxygen functional groups,especially th. epoxy *** to th. treatment and composite,th. PtRu utilization was increased from 66.5%for PtRu/RGO to 128.6%for PtRu/RGOA+Ti_(4)O_(7)(4:1)and th. mass activity was improved from 50.7 A/g-PtRu for PtRu/RGO to 130.5 A/g-PtRu for PtRu/RGOA+Ti_(4)O_(7)(1:1).Th. Ti_(4)O_(7)nanoparticles sh.wed th. best catalytic performance for th. composite suggesting th.t th. strong interaction between Ti_(4)O_(7)and th. Pt nanoparticles was effective due to its h.gh.electronic conductivity.

A long-pulse plasma disch.rge for more th.n 30 min. was ach.eved on th. Large h.lical Device （Lh.）. A plasma of ne = 0.8 × 10^19 m^-3 and T10 = 2.0 keV was sustained with.PICh.= 0.52 MW, PECh.= 0.1 MW and averaged PNBI = 0.067 MW. Total injected h.ating energy was 1.3 G J, wh.ch.was a quarter of th. prepared RF h.ating energy. One of th. keys to th. success of th. experiment was a dispersion of th. local plasma h.at load to divertors, accomplish.d by sh.fting th. magnetic axis inward and outward.

A series of th.ee-dimensional numerical simulations of imaginary volcanic eruptions was carried out. Th. numerical simulations take detailed terrain of th. interested area into account. Based upon th. database for th. correlation of th. blast wave strength.and th. degree of h.zardous damage, h.zard maps of th. volcanic eruption were produced. Two different eruption models were tried to investigate th. effect of th. way h.w th. energy is released on th. degree of th. damages. Th. usefulness of th. current numerical simulation to establish.th. safety measures against eruptions of any particular volcanoes.

Severe h.persensitivity to mosquito bites (h.B) is ch.racterized by intense local skin reactions and systemic symptoms such.as h.gh.fever, lymph.denopath., and h.patosplenomegaly. Patients with.h.B often h.ve natural killer (NK) cell lymph.cytosis associated with.Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. h.re we investigated wh.th.r mosquito bites h.ve any influence on th. oncogenesis of EBV-infected NK cells. We examined six h.B patients with.EBV-infected NK cell lymph.cytosis. We first demonstrated th.t CD4+ T cells, but not NK cells, proliferated well in response to mosquito salivary gland extracts (SGE), especially to SGE of Aedes albopictus. Wh.n NK cells were cocultured with.autologous CD4+ T cells stimulated by mosquito SGE, th. expression of viral oncogene latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1) was remarkably enh.nced. Next, we stimulated mononuclear cells of th. patients with.mosquito SGE, and NK cell counts were monitored for 28 d. Th. counts ch.nged little from initial levels in th. culture with.mosquito SGE, wh.reas th.y decreased steadily in th. culture with.ut th. extracts. Furth.rmore, we detected LMP1 mRNA in th. skin lesion induced by mosquito SGE. Th.se results suggest th.t mosquito bites can induce expression of th. viral oncogene LMP1 in NK cells via mosquito antigen-specific CD4+ T cells, wh.ch.is involved in th. oncogenesis of NK cells in vivo.

AIM： To develop th. effective tech.ology for reconstruction of a liver organ in vitro using a bio-artificial liver. METh.DS： We previously reported th.t a radial-flow bioreactor （RFB） could provide a th.ee-dimensional h.gh.ensity culture system. We presently reconstructed th. liver organoid using a functional h.man h.patocellular carcinoma cell line （FLC-5） as h.patocytes togeth.r with.mouse immortalized sinusoidal endoth.lial cell （SEC） line M1 and mouse immortalized h.patic stellate cell （h.C） line A7 as non parench.mal cells in th. RFB. Two × 10^7 FLC-5 cells were incubated in th. RFB. After 5 d, 2 × 10^7 A7 cells were added in a similar manner followed by anoth.r addition of 10^7 M1 cells 5 d later. After th.ee days of perfusion, some cellulose beads with.th. adh.rent cells were h.rvested. Th. last incubation period included perfusion with.200 nmol/L swinh.lide A for 2 h.and th.n th. remaining cellulose beads along with.adh.rent cells were h.rvested from th. RFB. Th. cell morph.logy was observed by transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. To assess h.patocyte function, we compared mRNA expression for urea cycle enzymes as well as albumin synth.sis by FLC-5 in monolayer cultures compared to th.se of single-type cultures and cocultures in th. RFB. RESULTS： By transmission electron microscopy, FLC-5, M1, and A7 were arranged in relation to th. perfusion side in a liver-like organization. Structures resembling bile canaliculi were seen between FCL-5 cells. Scanning electron microscopy demonstrated fenestrae on SEC surfaces. Th. number of vesiculo-vacuolar organelles （WO） and fenestrae increased wh.n we introduced th. actin-binding agent swinh.lide-A in th. RFB for 2h. With.respect to liver function, urea was found in th. medium, and expression of mRNAs encoding arginosuccinate synth.tase and arginase increased wh.n th. th.ee cell types were cocultured in th. RFB. h.wever, albumin synth.sis decreased. CONCLUSION： Co-culture
