A convenient one-step preparation of diaminonitrile compounds

A new method for preparation of diaminonitrile compounds is reported. In this method primary aliphatic diamine compounds were condensed with two equivalents of benzaldehyde and sodium cyanide in presence of an aqueous solution of sodium hydrogensulfite under mild conditions. This method provides an efficient, convenient and practical method for the syntheses of diaminonitrile compounds and the products are easily isolated. The prepared new compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR spectroscopies and mass spectrometry.

Quenching effect of deferoxamine on free radical-mediated photon production in luminol and ortho-phenanthroline-dependent chemiluminescence

Removing excessive free radicals （FRs） by a synthetic chemical might give a clue for treatment of many iron-mediated diseases. Deferoxamine （DFO） can be one of the chemicals of choice for the clue. To investigate photoredox properties of DFO, its quenching effect on superoxide radical （O2°）, hydrogen peroxide （H202） and hydroxyl radical （OH~） was examined using luminol and ortho-phenanthroline （o- phen） chemiluminescence （CL） systems and UV-vis spectrophotometry. Stern-Volmer equation was also used for the CL kinetics. The observed quenching effect of DFO on CL]photon production in luminol and o-phen CL systems strongly confirmed the static arm of quenching properties of DFO on OH° and H2O2, but much less pronounced on O2^-°; the quenching property was maximal when iron was involved in the reaction systems. The Stern-Volmer plots in the designed photochemical reaction systems also confirmed a potent quenching effect of DFO on FR-mediated CL. Our study highlights strong photoreducing and antioxidant properties of DFO with huge quenching capacity on excessive FRs, and thus implies its promising prospects for therapeutic applications.

Synthesis, Characterization and Solvatochromism Investigation of Mixed Ligand Chelate Copper（Ⅱ） Complexes with Acetyleacetonate and Three Diamine Ligands

The syntheses of three mixed ligand chelate copper（II） complexes of the type [Cu（L）（acac）（H2O）]BPh4 where acac=acetyleacetonate; L=N,N-dimethyl,N′-benzylethane-1,2-diamine （L1）, N,N-dimethyl, N′-2-methylbenzylethane-1,2-diamine （L2） or N,N-dimethyl,N′-2-chlorobenzylethane-1,2-diamine （L3） are reported and characterized by elemental analyses, spectroscopic and molar conductance measurements. The X-ray structure of complex 1 shows that the central copper atom is placed in a distorted square pyramidal geometry made by acac and diamine chelate in the base and a H2O molecule on the apex. The prepared complexes are fairly soluble in a large number of organic solvents and show positive solvatochromism. Calculations of SMLR （stepwise multiple linear regression） method was utilized to find the best model explaining the observed solvatochromic behavior and showed that among different solvent parameters, donor number （DN） is a dominant factor responsible for the shift in the d-d absorption band of the complexes to the lower wavenumber with increasing its values. The importance of substituent effect in diamine ligand on the spectral and SMLR measurements is also discussed.

Aliphatic and aromatic alcohols are efficiently oxidized to ketones or carboxylic acids using aqueous hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant in the presence of a Mn(Ⅲ) Schiff-base complex as a catalyst under solvent-free *** oxidation of alcohols occurred at 50℃ to give the corresponding ketones or carboxylic acids with a yield higher than 60%.
