Nanotechnology allows the realization of new materials and devices with basic structural unit in the range of1–100 nm and characterized by gaining control at the atomic, molecular, and supramolecular level. Reducing the dimensions of a material into the nanoscale range usually results in the change of its physiochemical properties such as reactivity,crystallinity, and solubility. This review treats the convergence of last research news at the interface of nanostructured biomaterials and tissue engineering for emerging biomedical technologies such as scaffolding and tissue regeneration. The present review is organized into three main sections. The introduction concerns an overview of the increasing utility of nanostructured materials in the field of tissue engineering. It elucidates how nanotechnology, by working in the submicron length scale, assures the realization of a biocompatible interface that is able to reproduce the physiological cell–matrix interaction. The second, more technical section, concerns the design and fabrication of biocompatible surface characterized by micro- and submicroscale features, using microfabrication, nanolithography, and miscellaneous nanolithographic *** the last part, we review the ongoing tissue engineering application of nanostructured materials and scaffolds in different fields such as neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, and skin tissue regeneration.

Value of autopsy in the modern age:discrepancy between clinical and autopsy diagnoses

BACKGROUNd Autopsy is a medical procedure that consists of the examination of the corpse to determine the cause of death and obtain information on pathological conditions or *** recent years,there has been a reduction in hospital autopsies and an increase in forensic *** To evaluate the utility of autopsy in the modern age and the discrepancy between clinical and autopsy *** A retrospective observational study was conducted on the reports of all 645 hospital autopsies performed at Polyclinic of Bari from 2006 to *** Group A,2006-2009,174 cases were studied:58%male,58%adults,55%neonatology;pulmonary disease was the cause of death in 23%of cases;and there was a discrepancy between clinical and autopsy diagnosis in 55%of *** B,2010-2013,119 cases:52%male,46%infants,48%neonatology;pulmonary disease was the cause of death in 25%of cases;and there was a discrepancy between clinical and autopsy diagnosis in 56%of *** C,2014-2017,168 cases:sex equality,37%infants,25%gynecology;pulmonary disease was the cause of death in 24%of cases;and there was a discrepancy between clinical and autopsy diagnosis in 58%of *** d,2018-2021,184 cases:56%male,38%adult,32%gynecology;pulmonary disease was the cause of death in 27%of cases;and there was a discrepancy between clinical and autopsy diagnosis in 58%of *** The study of hospital autopsies reveals a 56.75%discrepancy between clinical diagnosis and autopsy,highlighting the importance of autopsies,especially for fetal and neonatal diseases,which represent 59%of cases.

Constant serum levels of secreted asialoglycoprotein receptor sH2a and decrease with cirrhosis

AIM: To investigate the existence and levels of sH2a, a soluble secreted form of the asialoglycoprotein receptor in human serum. METHOdS: Production of recombinant sH2a and development of a monoclonal antibody and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). This assay was used to determine the presence and concentration of sH2a in human sera of individuals of both sexes and a wide range of ages. RESULTS: The recombinant protein was produced successfully and a specific ELISA assay was developed. The levels of sH2a in sera from 62 healthy individuals variedminimally (147 ± 19 ng/mL). In contrast, 5 hepatitis C patients with cirrhosis showed much decreased sH2a levels (50 ± 9 ng/mL). CONCLUSION: Constant sH2a levels suggest constitutive secretion from hepatocytes in healthy individuals. This constant level and the decrease with cirrhosis suggest a diagnostic potential.

The Effect of Water and Salt Stress on Paspalum dilatatum,a Constituent of Pampas Natural Grasslands

The effects of the salt stress on plant growth are usually increased by the water *** studied the impact of both stresses in simultaneous pulses of drought and salinity on Paspalum *** forage species is native to South America,spread in grasslands in many tropical,subtropical,and temperate areas of the world,and very common in grasslands of the Flooding Pampas of *** what happens in *** compared a pot experiment,a non-stressed control against water stress for a month(midpoint between field capacity and wilting point),and two saline stresses(moderate,6 d·Sm^(−1)and strong,12 d·Sm^(−1)),also for a *** biomass(green leaf;non-leaf green material,and dry material)and roots were harvested,weighed,and analyzed for nitrogen,phosphorus,and *** biomass of all components significantly decreased when both stresses were *** plus strong saline stress reduced by half the total biomasses,compared to the *** proportion of aerial biomass/root biomass ratio as well as aerial green component/dry materials ratio tend to decrease when subjected to both *** concentration in plants was not significantly affected,but phosphorus concentration increased in aerial biomass components,from 0.10 to 0.18 mg·kg^(−1)between the extreme treatments,but did not change in *** concentration in plants increased(i.e.,in green leave sodium(Na)increased from 0.27 to 2.01 mg·kg^(−1)between the extreme treatments),whereas other cations either did not change or decreased,affecting the ratios between *** performance allows us to infer that the Na accumulation of *** behaves in an intermediate range,compared to very tolerant to salts or non-salt tolerant species of the Paspalum *** agreement,when salts were applied in the form of a pulse,*** tolerated higher salinity than that found by other authors for the same species,using continuous salinity.

Autoimmune liver diseases and SARS-CoV-2

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),causing coronavirus disease 2019(COVId-19),can trigger autoimmunity in genetically predisposed individuals through hyperstimulation of immune response and molecular *** we summarise the current knowledge about autoimmune liver diseases(AILds)and SARS-CoV-2,focusing on:(1)The risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection and the course of COVId-19 in patients affected by AILds;(2)the role of SARS-CoV-2 in inducing liver damage and triggering AILds;and(3)the ability of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 to induce autoimmune responses in the *** derived from the literature suggest that patients with AILds do not carry an increased risk of SARS-Cov-2 infection but may develop a more severe course of COVId-19 if on treatment with steroids or *** SARSCoV-2 infection can lead to the development of several autoimmune diseases,few reports correlate it to the appearance of de novo manifestation of immunemediated liver diseases such as autoimmune hepatitis(AIH),primary biliary cholangitis(PBC)or AIH/PBC overlap *** case series of an AIHlike syndrome with a good prognosis after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination have been *** the causal link between SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and AIH cannot be definitively established,these reports suggest that this association could be more than coincidental.

Co-Inhibitors of Second Signal of Lymphocyte Response in Human Renal Transplants: Pd-L2, GITR, and ILT-2/3/5 Positive Cells from Aspiration Biopsies Associate with Acute Rejection-Freedom

Following organ transplantation, the outcome of the encounter between an APC and a T lymphocyte is strongly dependent on the presence of costimulatory and co-inhibitory molecules, the former associated with allograft rejection and the latter with allograft acceptance. We evaluated the expression of PD-L2, GITR, ILT-2/3/5, and ILT-4 on graft-infiltrating cells procured by Fnab from human KTx under different immunosuppressive regimens. Methods: Fnab biopsies were performed on days 7 or 14 - 30 in stable KTx and on the day of acute rejection diagnosis. Cytopreparations were studied by the enzymatic avidin biotin complex staining. Results: Acute rejection group showed a significant down-regulated expression of PD-L2, GITR, and ILT-2/3/5 as compared to stable group, while for ILT-4 we did not find significant difference. Anti-IL2αR and rapamicyn treatment trend to down-regulate ILT-4 expression, although meaningless. A significantly positive correlation was observed between PD-L2 and GITR expression in Fnab. The PPV for acute rejection diagnosis for both PD-L2 and GITR was clearly above 0.8. Conclusions: Our findings point to an early entrance of cells expressing PD-L2, GITR and ILT-2/3/5 inside human KTx who are going to remain rejection-free. Both PD-L2 and GITR shared a high ability to rule-in and rule-out acute rejection.

Influence of biomass burning on ozone levels in the Megalopolis of Central Mexico during the COVId-19 lockdown

The massive reductions in anthropogenic emissions resulting from the COVId-19 lockdown provided a unique opportunity to evaluate the effect of mitigation measures aiming to abate air *** Mexico,the total lockdown period took place during the dry-hot season when biomass burning activity is ***,we investigate the role of biomass burning emissions on regional ozone levels in the Megalopolis of Central *** studied period covers the lockdown phases 2 and 3,and the first month of the New *** applied a factor separation technique and process analysis to estimate the pure and synergistic contributions of emission reductions under lockdown and that from biomass burning to daily ozone maximum concentrations in 7 metropolitan areas of different states in the *** results revealed that biomass burning plumes likely masked the effect of massive reductions from mobile emissions,impacted the PBL development during phase 3 and favored transition and mixed NO_(x)-limited and VOC-limited regional *** contributed to increased ozone production in the middle to lower PBL by changing the regional background levels which potentially could bias high ozone production efficiency *** the Megalopolis contribution to economic and societal development at national scale,our study suggests that ozone mitigation measures during the dry-hot season targeting mainly mobile emissions will likely be offset by biomass burning plumes.A regional and synergic policy aiming to control biomass burning would help to reduce the occurrence of high ozone levels in Central Mexico with the co-benefit of tackling short-lived climate pollutants.

Non-Specific Factors Involved in the Treatment： Its Influence on Treatment Adherence

Introduction： The effectiveness of treatment depends on the efficacy of the therapy and the level of compliance of the patient. NF （non-specific factors） involved in treatment are all those effects that do not depend on the pharmacological properties of the drug. Materials and Methods： The job lasted a year. The sample consisted of patients with mental health disorders and was divided into two groups. Treatment compliance was measured with the Morisky-Green Test. Results were compared using the chi square test and relative risk. Results and discussion： Group A had 23 patients ending 91.3% of them and group B of 22 patients, ending the 77.27%. At the beginning of the study, we found in the group A 0.86 NF/patients while in the group B 0.82 NF/patient. At the end of the study there was a 54.65% decrease in group A while in group B the proportion remained. At the beginning of the study both groups had approximately 40% of compliant patients. data that remained in the control group rose to 80.95% in group A at the end of the study. Conclusions： The work demonstrates the negative influence of these factors on adherence to treatment.

Surgical treatment of locally advanced anal cancer after male-to-female sex reassignment surgery

We present a case of a transsexual patient who underwent a partial pelvectomy and genital reconstruction for anal cancer after chemoradiation. This is the first case in literature reporting on the occurrence of anal cancer after male-to-female sex reassignment surgery. We describe the surgical approach presenting our technique to avoid postoperative complications and preserve the sexual reassignment.
