We demonstrate a novel high-accuracy post-fabrication trimming technique to fine-tune the phase of integrated Mach–Zehnder interferometers, enabling permanent correction of typical fabrication-based phase errors. the effective index change of the optical mode is 0.19 in our measurement, which is approximately an order of magnitude improvement compared to previous work with similar excess optical loss. Our measurement results suggest that a phase accuracy of 0.078 rad was achievable with active feedback control.

Polarimetric optical fibre sensors have been embedded within the 0° ply and close to the 0/90 interface of transparent cross-ply GFRP coupons. the laminate ply cracks may initiate and propagate across the coupon when the coupons were subjected to an increasing quasi-static load in a servo-hydraulic testing machine. Crack accumulation have been monitored using a long gauge-length extensometer. the response of the strain signal, the optical signal and the load signal to cracks at different positions in the coupon in relation to the extensometer and optical sensor positions have been acquired and compared by means of video images of the crack growth. the relationship between crack growth and sensor response was demonstrated. the displacement induced by a new transverse crack has been predicted and compared with experimental data.

Background: Running-related overuse injuries can result from the combination of extrinsic(e.g., running mileage) and intrinsic risk factors(e.g.,biomechanics and gender), but the relationship between these factors is not folly understood. therefore, the first purpose of this study was to determine whether we could classify higher-and lower-mileage runners according to differences in lower extremity kinematics during the stance and swing phases of running gait. I he second purpose was to subgroup the runners by gender and determine whether we could classify higherand lower-mileage runners in male and female ***: Participants were allocated to the "higher-mileage" group(≥32 km/week; n= 41(30 females)) or to the "lower-mileage" group(≤25 km;n= 40(29 females)). three-dimensional kinematic data were collected during 60 s of treadmill running at a self-selected speed(2.61 ± 0.23 m/s).A support vector machine classifier identified kinematic differences between higher-and lower-mileage groups based on principal component ***: Higher-and lower-mileage runners(both genders) could be separated with 92.59% classification accuracy. When subgrouping by gender,higher-and lower-mileage female runners could be separated with 89.83% classification accuracy, and higher-and lower-mileage male runners could be separated with 100% classification ***: these results demonstrate there are distinct kinematic differences between subgroups related to both mileage and gender, and that these factors need to be considered in future research.

Cremaster muscle thickening: the anatomic difference in men with testicular retraction due to hyperactive cremaster muscle reflex

the objective was to assess whether men suffering from testicular retraction secondary to hyperactive cremaster muscle reflex havean anatomic difference in the thickness of the cremaster muscle in comparison to men who do not have retraction. From March2021 to December 2021, 21 men underwent microsurgical subinguinal cremaster muscle release (MSCMR) on 33 spermatic cordunits, as 12 of them had bilateral surgery, at Surgicare of South Austin Ambulatory Surgery Center in Austin, tX, USA. Duringthat same time frame, 36 men underwent subinguinal microsurgical varicocele repair on 41 spermatic cord units, as 5 werebilateral for infertility. the thickness of cremaster muscles was measured by the operating surgeon in men undergoing MSCMRand varicocele repair. Comparison was made between the cremaster muscle thickness in men with testicular retraction due toa hyperactive cremaster muscle reflex undergoing MSCMR and the cremaster muscle thickness in men undergoing varicocelerepair for infertility with no history of testicular retraction, which served as an anatomic control. the mean cremaster musclethickness in men who underwent MSCMR was significantly greater than those undergoing varicocele repair for infertility, witha mean cremaster muscle thickness of 3.9 (standard deviation [s.d.]: 1.2) mm vs 1.0 (s.d.: 0.4) mm, respectively. Men withtesticular retraction secondary to a hyperactive cremaster muscle reflex demonstrate thicker cremaster muscles than controls,those undergoing varicocele repair. An anatomic difference may be a beginning to understanding the pathology in men whostruggle with testicular retraction.

Songliao Basin,the largest Mesozoic intracontinental nonmarine basin in eastern China,initiated during the latest Jurassic as a backarc extensional basin;rifting failed and thermal cooling controlled subsidence through the early Late *** 2-D and 3D reflection seismic and borehole data with regional geological studies,we interpret sedimentary sequence and structural patterns of the Coniacian-Maastrichtian fill of Songliao Basin as defining a retroforeland basin system developed after 88 Ma(marked by the t11 unconformity in the basin),including(1)significant increase in the thickness of the Nenjiang Formation eastward towards orogenic highlands of the Zhangguangcai Range and the convergent continental margin;(2)a shift of detrital provenance in the basin from north to southeast;and(3)propagation of E-W shortened structures,increasing eastward in amplitude,frequency,and degree of inversion toward the *** latest Cretaceous,foreland basin fill progressively deformed,as the foredeep evolved to a wedge-top tectonic setting,marked by the basin-wide t04 unconformity within the upper Nenjiang Formation at 81.6 *** of the basin was brought into the orogenic wedge and eroded by the end of the *** Jurassic/Early Cretaceous backarc rifting of uncratonized basement comprised of accreted terranes likely facilitated and localized the *** normal faults reactivated and extensively inverted as thrust faults are prominent in the eastern 1/3 of the basin,whereas folds developed above detachments in shaley early post-rift strata dominate the western 2/3 of the *** foreland development likely was driven by changing plate dynamics and collision along the Pacific margin after 88 Ma.

this work focuses on one of the critical points of Earth＇s history when the Solar System passed through the most distant point of its galactic orbit. During this event, Earth may have suffered from maximum extension, associated with its relative proximity to the Sun at that time, followed by long-term contraction related to its later distancing. this paper is based on generalized data on the Cretaceous evolution of the Earth as a whole and of East Asia in particular. the evidence suggests that major geological processes at this time may be interpreted as transitional changes in the state of Earth. A liquid nature of its core may have reacted to the gravitational and electromagnetic transformations. When the cosmic changes took place at 135-120 Ma, more turbulent flows in the outer core would have favoured the rise of voluminous magmatic plumes and associated fluid flows. these would substantially transform the mantle, crust, hydrosphere, biosphere and atmosphere. In particular, plume-related melting of overlying subducting slabs and lower continental crust could have initiated numerous adakitic melts that formed the East Asian Adakitic Province. these and associated juvenile events produced numerous metallic ore, coal, gas and oil deposits. the Cretaceous is one of the most significant resource-producing periods.
