Fabrication and mechanical behavior of 2D-C_(f)/Ta_(x)Hf_(1−x)C–SiC composites by a low-temperature and highly-efficient route

C_(f)/Ta_(x)Hf_(1−x)C–SiC composites are ideal thermal structural materials for service under extreme conditions of hypersonic ***,how to synthesize TaxHf1-xC powders and efficiently fabricate C_(f)/Ta_(x)Hf_(1−x)C–SiC composites still faces some ***,mechanical properties and thermophysical properties of Ta_(x)Hf_(1−x)C vary with the composition,but not ***-depth analysis of mechanical behaviors of the C_(f)/Ta_(x)Hf_(1−x)C–SiC composites is extremely important for their development and *** this study,the Ta_(x)Hf_(1−x)C powders(x=0.2,0.5,0.8)were successfully synthesized via solid solution of TaC and HfC at a relatively low temperature of 1800℃,with a small amount of Si as an ***,the efficient fabrication of 2D-C_(f)/Ta_(x)Hf_(1−x)C–SiC composites was achieved by slurry impregnation and lamination(SIL)combined with precursor infiltration and pyrolysis(PIP).In addition,the mechanical behavior of the composites was investigated *** is demonstrated that the composites present remarkable non-brittle fractures,including a large number of fiber pull out and interphase ***,the fracture failure involves a complex process of microcrack generation and propagation,matrix cracking,and layer ***,the interfacial bonding between the fibers and the matrix is enhanced as the Ta∶Hf ratio decreases from 4∶1 to 1∶*** a result,C_(f)/Ta_(0.2)Hf_(0.8)C–SiC composites exhibit exceptional flexural strength of 437±19 MPa,improved by 46%compared with C_(f)/Ta_(0.8)Hf_(0.2)C–SiC(299±19 MPa).This study provides a new perception of design and fabrication of ultra-high-temperature ceramic(UHTC)matrix composites with high performance.

Uniaxial tensile tests and stress-controlled low-cycle fatigue(LCF) and creep-fatigue interaction(CFI) tests of Inconel 625 alloy manufactured by selective laser melting(SLM) were performed at 815℃ in air *** microstructure was characterized by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy after *** results confirmed that significant embrittlement and large scatter in LCF life are resulted from manufacturing *** CFI life is decreased sharply to approximately dozens of cycles with the accumulated creep strain;however,the selected dwell time(i.e.,60 s and 300 s)exhibits low sensitivity to the fracture time and elongation to *** embrittlement of SLM Inconel 625 was proposed to be due to the low grain uniformity and precipitation of carbides at the grain *** to the quality of the SLM process,the accelerated initiation and propagation of fatigue crack are caused by the present unmelted powder particles,which result in the large dispersion of LCF ***,due to the accumulation of creep damage,cracks in the CFI test are initiated along the grain boundaries and then linked together,contributing to a significant decline in fatigue life.

Soybean mosaic virus(SMV),an RNA virus,is the most common and destructive pathogenic virus in soybean *** newly developed CRISPR/Cas immune system has provided a novel strategy for improving plant resistance to viruses;hence,this study aimed to engineer SMV resistance in soybean using this ***,multiple sgRNAs were designed to target positive-and/or negative-sense strands of the SMV HC-Pro ***,the corresponding CRISPR/CasRx vectors were constructed and transformed into *** inoculation with SMV,39.02%,35.77%,and 18.70%of T_(1)plants were confirmed to be highly resistant(HR),resistant(R),and mildly resistant(MR)to SMV,respectively,whereas only 6.50%were identified as susceptible(S).Additionally,qRT-PCR and DAS-ELISA showed that,both at 15 and 30 d post-inoculation(dpi),SMV accumulation significantly decreased or was even undetectable in HR and R plants,followed by MR and S ***,the expression level of the CasRx gene varied in almost all T_(1)plants with different resistance level,both at 15 and 30 ***,when SMV resistance was evaluated in the T_(2)generation,the results were similar to those recorded for the T_(1)*** findings provide new insights into the application of the CRISPR/CasRx system for soybean improvement and offer a promising alternative strategy for breeding for resistance to biotic stress that will contribute to the development of SMV-immune soybean germplasm to accelerate progress towards greater soybean crop productivity.

Deep-learning-based information mining from ocean remote-sensing imagery

With the continuous development of space and sensor technologies during the last 40 years, ocean remote sensing has entered into the big-data era with typical five-V(volume, variety, value, velocity and veracity)characteristics. Ocean remote-sensing data archives reach several tens of petabytes and massive satellite data are acquired worldwide daily. To precisely, efficiently and intelligently mine the useful information submerged in such ocean remote-sensing data sets is a big challenge. Deep learning—a powerful technology recently emerging in the machine-learning field—has demonstrated its more significant superiority over traditional physical-or statistical-based algorithms for image-information extraction in many industrial-field applications and starts to draw interest in ocean remote-sensing applications. In this review paper, we first systematically reviewed two deep-learning frameworks that carry out ocean remote-sensing-image classifications and then presented eight typical applications in ocean internal-wave/eddy/oil-spill/coastal-inundation/sea-ice/green-algae/ship/coral-reef mapping from different types of ocean remote-sensing imagery to show how effective these deep-learning frameworks are. Researchers can also readily modify these existing frameworks for information mining of other kinds of remote-sensing imagery.

A method of spectrometry analysis based on approximation coefficients and deep belief networks was developed. Detection rate and accurate radionuclide identification distance were used to evaluate the performance of the proposed method in identifying radionuclides. Experimental results show that identification performance was not affected by detection time, number of radionuclides, or detection distance when the minimum detectable activity of a single radionuclide was satisfied. Moreover, the proposed method could accurately predict isotopic compositions from the spectra of moving radionuclides. Thus, the designed method can be used for radiation monitoring instruments that identify radionuclides.

Natural ventilation(NV)has been considered a simple and effective method of ***,the intro-duction of NV does not achieve better indoor air quality(IAQ)when the outdoor atmospheric environment is ***,portable air cleaners(PACs)are increasing in use in recent years,but their effectiveness is highly dependent on the residents’habits.A typical residence in Xi’an,China was selected to examine the effects of the use of NV alone and the use of NV and PACs together on IAQ in the three occupant states,i.e.,unoc-cupied,sleeping and ***,such as temperature,relative humidity,CO_(2),and PM_(2.5)concentration were measured when changing the window opening and the position of the *** results showed that in the unoccupied state,opening the inner door can promote a more uniform thermal and humid *** the sleeping state,the I/O ratio of the PM_(2.5)concentration was the lowest when the window opening of the bedroom was 1/2 or 3/4,with a mean value of *** the leisure state,only using NV,when the purification rate reaches 90%,the mean purification time of each window opening in the living room is 87.5 *** mean purification time was reduced to 25 min when both NV and PAC were *** on-site purification efficiencies were 91.0%and 94.5%,when the window opening was 1/2(i.e.,the PAC was placed in the center of the room)and 3/4(i.e.,the PAC was placed away from the outer window),respectively.

Reduced expression of circulating microRNA-218 in gastric cancer and correlation with tumor invasion and prognosis

AIM:To investigate the expression of microRNA-218(miR-218)in serum from gastric cancer patients and its relationship with clinicopathological ***:A total of 68 patients with pathologically diagnosed gastric cancer and 56 healthy individuals were recruited to this *** expression of miR-218was detected in the serum of gastric cancer patients and healthy individuals by quantitative real-time polymerase chain *** clinical data were collectedand analyzed by statistical ***:miR-218 was reduced significantly in the serum of gastric cancer patients compared to healthy individuals(1.15±0.08 vs 0.37±0.023;P=0.026).In the gastric cancer group,serum expression of miR-218was lower in patients with metastasis and poorly differentiated cancer compared with non-metastatic and well-differentiated cancer(0.19±0.011 vs 0.45±0.021,P=0.031 and 0.21±0.019 vs 0.49±0.021,P=0.025).Serum miR-218 was found to be significantly associated with gastric cancer metastasis(P=0.003),tumor T stage(P=0.018)and tumor grade(P=0.012).Low serum expression of miR-218 was related to an increase in the stage of gastric *** expression level of miR-218 in the serum was correlated with the3-year ***-seven percent of patients with a high level of miR-218 expression survived for 3 years,while only 54%of those with low miR-218 expression ***:miR-218 is deregulated in gastric cancer patients and is strongly correlated with tumor stage,grade and *** expression of miR-218 may be a prognostic marker.

Benefits and harms of screening for hepatocellular carcinoma in high-risk populations: systematic review and meta-analysis

Objective:The incidence and mortality of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)have been increasing around the *** guidelines recommend HCC screening in high-risk ***,the strength of evidence of ben-efits and harms of HCC screening to support the recommendation was *** objective is to systematically synthesize current evidence on the benefits and harms of HCC ***:We searched PubMed and nine other databases until August 20,*** included cohort studies and RCTs that compared the benefits and harms of screening and non-screening in high-risk population of *** series studies that reported harms of HCC screening were also *** risk ratio(RR),according to HCC screening status,was calculated for each benefit outcome(e.g.,HCC mortality,survival rate,proportion of early HCC),using head-to-head *** harmful outcomes(e.g.,proportion of physiological harms provided by non-comparative studies were pooled by prevalence of meta-analysis).Analysis on publication bias and quality of life,subgroup analysis,and sensitivity analysis were also ***:We included 70 studies,including four random clinical trials(RCTs),63 cohort studies,three case se-ries *** meta-analysis of RCTs showed HCC screening was significantly associated with reduced HCC mortality(RR[risk ratio],0.73[95%CI,0.56-0.96];I^(2)=75.1%),prolonged overall survival rates(1-year,RR,1.72[95%CI,1.13-2.61];I^(2)=72.5%;3-year,RR,2.86[95%CI,1.78-4.58];I^(2)=10.1%;and 5-year,RR,2.76[95%CI,1.37-5.54];I^(2)=28.3%),increased proportion of early HCC detection(RR,2.68[95%CI,1.77-4.06];I^(2)=50.4%).Similarly,meta-analysis of cohort studies indicated HCC screening was more effective than ***,pooled proportion of physiological harms was 16.30%(95%CI:8.92%-23.67%)and most harms were of a mild to moderate ***:The existing evidence suggests HCC screening is more effective than non-screening in high-risk ***

OBJECTIVE: To establish a method to analyze the commonalities and characteristics of the aqueous extracts from three Uighur ***: In this study, a combination method of three-stage infrared spectroscopy and ultra-performance liquid chromatography-time of flight-mass spectra(UPLC-TOF-MS) method was used to analyze the commonalities and characteristics of the aqueous extracts from Hezi(Fructus Chebulae),Maohezi(Terminalia Belliricae Fructus) and Xiqingguo(Chebulae Fructus Immaturus).RESULTS: In Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy spectra, all three samples showed the characteristic absorption peaks of tannins similarly. According to UPLC-TOF-MS data analysis, the difference of the position and intensity of the peaks at 1713-1707 cm^(-1) in the three samples were related to the difference in the relative content of tannin and pentacyclic triterpenoids. In second derivative infrared spectroscopy spectra, further analysis of the differences in the infrared spectra of the three samples was performed by increasing the apparent resolution. In combination with UPLC-TOF-MS data, some features infrared absorption peaks were *** absorption peaks at 1032-1030 cm^(-1) assigned to the stretching vibration of C-O-C(ether bond)groups of tannins; 1164-1163, 1063-1062, 1009-1005, 904 cm^(-1) attributed to the stretching vibration of C-O(ether bond) and C-O-C groups of glycosidic compounds. 1385-1383 cm^(-1) attributed to the bending vibration of C-H(alkyl hydrogen) of methoxyl group of pentacyclic triterpenoids. Peak 835 cm^(-1) was assigned to the characteristic absorption peak of bending vibration of = C-H groups of pentacyclic triterpenoids. The two dimensional correlation infrared spectroscopy could further quickly distinguish three samples through the dynamic structural information of their chemical components and discrepancy of auto-peaks and cross-peaks intuitively in the range of 1720-419 cm^(-1).CONCLUSION: By comparing the intensity of the infrared
