In-vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of ethanol stem-bark extract of Blighia sapida ***

Blighia sapida(***)***(Family Sapindaceae)is a branchless straight bole approximately 15 m in *** study evaluated the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of ethanol extract and fractions of *** stem-bark using in vitro *** extract and its fractions were investigated for 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)radical scavenging activity,ferric reducing antioxidant power(FRAP),total antioxidant capacity(tAC),and quantitative phenolic and flavonoid ***-inflammatory activity was evaluated using albumin denaturation and membrane stabilization *** extract and its fractions exhibited radical scavenging and anti-inflammatory *** ethyl acetate fraction possessed maximum phenolic and flavonoid contents(136.67±1.55 gallic acid equivalent mg/g and 75.76±4.03 quercetin equivalent mg/g,respectively).Antioxidant studies revealed that the ethyl acetate fraction displayed superior activity with an IC_(50)=0.09±0.03 mg/mL DPPH,and values of 146.96±3.81 ascorbic acid equivalent(AAE)mg/g and 359.20±4.98 AAE mg/g for FRAP and tAC,***,the anti-inflammatory activity was revealed by inhibition of heatinduced albumin denaturation and red blood cell membrane stabilization at concentrations of 200 -1000 mg/mL and 50-250 mg/mL,*** ethanol extract and fractions exhibited antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities,with ethyl acetate fraction showing superior activity,which could be attributed to secondary metabolites,mainly phenolic ***,the antioxidant and antiinflammatory activities of *** can be exploited by ethnomedicinal users.

A co-interaction model of HIV and syphilis infection among gay,bisexual and other men who have sex with men

We developed a mathematical model to study the co-interaction of HIV and syphilis infection among gay,bisexual and other men who have sex with men(gbMSM).We qualitatively analysed the model and established necessary conditions under which disease-free and endemic equilibria are asymptotically *** gave analytical expressions for the reproduction number,and showed that whenever the reproduction numbers of sub-models and co-interaction model are less than unity,the epidemics die out,while epidemics persist when they are greater than *** presented numerical simulations of the full model and showed qualitative changes of the dynamics of the full model to changes in the transmission *** numerical simulations using a set of reasonable parameter values showed that:(a)both diseases die out or co-exist whenever their reproduction number is less than or exceed unity.(b)HIV infection impacts syphilis prevalence negatively and vice versa.(c)one possibility of lowering the co-infection of HIV and syphilis among gbMSM is to increase both testing and treatment rates for syphilis and HIV infection,and decrease the rate at which HIV infected individuals go off treatment.

Function-Integrative textile Reinforced Concrete Shells

this paper presents the development and technological implementation of textile reinforced concrete (tRC) shells with integrated functions, such as illumination and light control. In that regard the establishment of material, structural and technological foundations along the entire value chain are of central importance: From the light-weight design idea to the demonstrator and reference object, to the technological implementation for the transfer of the research results into practice. the development of the material included the requirement-oriented composition of a high-strength fine grained concrete with an integrated textile reinforcement, such as carbon knitted fabrics. Innovations in formwork solutions provide new possibilities for concrete constructions. So, a bionic optimized shape of the pavilion was developed, realized by four connected tRC-lightweight-shells. the thin-walled tRC-shells were manufactured with a formwork made of glass-fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP). An advantage of the GFRP-formwork is the freedom of design concerning the formwork shape. Moreover, an excellent concrete quality can be achieved, while the production of the precast concrete components is simple and efficient simultaneously. After the production the new tRC-shells were installed and assembled on the campus of tU-Chemnitz. A special feature of the research pavilions are the LED light strips integrated in the shell elements, providing homogeneous illumination.

Background:Diabetes-related cataract extraction is a minor surgery required to regain full *** of the recognized factors that can delay or prevent full-vision recovery is poor management,and most of this management is being carried out by patients ***:this study aimed to assess the knowledge of diabetes patients on self-management after cataract extraction in two tertiary hospitals in Osun ***:A cross-sectional descriptive design was conducted among 97 diabetes patients who underwent cataract extraction and were attending clinics and follow-up visits in Osun State.A self-structured questionnaire was used for data ***:Moderate knowledge was found among the participants on an appropriate diet(56.7%),prevention of injury risk(57.5%),prevention of infection risk(50.9%),and low knowledge on the technique of administration of eye drop(60.8%)after cataract extraction,whereas 74.7%of the total respondents were knowledgeable on the indication for follow-up visit after cataract extraction,these results were found to be below the expected knowledge ***:An intensive and comprehensive educational initiative by nurses should be tailored to meet the specific needs of diabetes patients with cataract *** also need to implement the use of checklist which will enhance learning and improve patient understanding of self-management after cataract extraction.
