Introduction: Rotavirus infection is a leading cause of severe diarrhea culminating to dehydration among children under five years of age. Understanding trends and factors that could assist towards devising effective preventive strategies of Rotavirus infection beyond vaccination is crucial. Objectives: This study was done in an attempt to determine the prevalence and associated factors of Rotavirus infection among vaccinated children aged between 6 weeks and 24 months admitted with acute diarrhea Mwanza, Tanzania. Material and Methods: Across sectional study involving vaccinated children aged 6 weeks to 24 months was conducted in three selected hospitals from July 2017 to January 2018. Socio-demographic and other relevant clinical information were collected using a standardized data collection tool adopted from WHO Rotavirus surveillance tool. Rotavirus infection from the stool was detected using an enzyme immunoassay. Data were analyzed using STATA version 13. Results: A total of 301 vaccinated children with acute diarrhea with a median age of 12 [IQR: 8 - 17] months were enrolled. Nine (3.0%) and 292 (97.0%) had received one dose and two doses of Rotavirus vaccine, respectively. The prevalence of Rotavirus infection was 74 (24.6%) [95% CI: 20.0 - 29.8]. Engineering complex nanocomposites that specifically target the hepatitis B virus （HBV） and overcome the limitations of current therapies such as limited efficacy and serious side effects is very challenging. Here, for the first time, the antiviral effect of engineered plasmonic gold and layered double hydroxide self-assemblies （AuNPs/LDHs） is demonstrated, using HBV as a model virus and hepatoma-derived HepG2.2.215 ceils for viral replication, assembly, and secretion of infectious virions and subviral particles. AuNPs/LDHs were obtained by a simple, cost-effective procedure in which small AuNPs （-3.5 nm） were directly obtained and organized on the surface of larger LDH nanoparticles （-150 nm） by exploiting the capability of MgLDH, ZnLDH, and MgFeLDH to manifest their ＂structural memory＂ in the aqueous solution of Au（O2CCH3）3. The self-assembly approach of AuNPs and LDHs was assessed by transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）, powder X-ray diffraction （PXRD）, and UV-Vis analysis （UV-Vis）. All AuNPs/LDHs tested reduced the amount of viral and subviral particles released from treated cells by up to 80% and exhibited good cytocompatibility. AuNPs/MgFeLDH showed the highest antiviral HBV response with more than 90% inhibition of HBV secretion for the whole concentration range. Preliminary studies on the mechanism of HBV inhibition reveals that in the presence of AuNPs/LDHs, HBV particles are sequestered within the treated cells. The antiviral and low cytotoxic plasmonic properties of these Au/LDH nanocomposites indicate that they hold significant potential to be tailored as novel efficient therapeutics for the treatment of hepatitis B.

In this article we consider the(complex)Ginzburg-Landau equation,we discretize in time using the implicit Euler scheme,and with the aid of the discrete Gronwall lemma and of the discrete uniform Gronwall lemma we prove that the global attractors generated by the numerical scheme converge to the global attractor of the continuous system as the time-step approaches zero.

The aim of this study was to investigate an association between the development of cholangiocarcinoma(CCA)and the ABO variant rs505922(known to increase pan-creatic cancer risk)in a large cohort of European individuals with *** total,180 individuals with CCA and 350 CCA-free controls were *** ABO variant rs505922 was genotyped using a polymerase chain reaction-based *** between this single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)and CCA was tested in contingency *** allele distributions nor association tests and regression analysis provided evidence for an increased risk of CCA among carriers of the ABO variant(all P > 0.05).Nevertheless,we documented a deviation from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in the entire CCA cohort(P = 0.028)and for patients with intrahe-patic(P = 0.037)but not extrahepatic tumor localization(P > 0.05).The association tests did not provide evidence for a prominent role of the investigated SNP in the genetic risk of ***,Hardy-Weinberg disequilibrium in the entire cohort and the intrahepatic CCA subgroup warrants future studies investigating a potential CCA risk modulation by individual blood groups.

BACKGROUND Given its size and location,the liver is the third most injured organ by abdominal *** to recent advances,it is unanimously accepted that the nonoperative management is the current mainstay of treatment for hemodynamically stable ***,those patients with hemodynamic instability that generally present with severe liver trauma associated with major vascular lesions will require surgical ***,an associated injury of the main bile ducts makes surgery compulsory even in the case of hemodynamic stability,thereby imposing therapeutic challenges in the tertiary referral hepato-biliopancreatic centers’*** SUMMARY We present the case of a 38-year-old male patient with The American Association for the Surgery of Trauma grade V liver injury and an associated right branch of portal vein and common bile duct avulsion,due to a crush *** patient was referred to the nearest emergency hospital and because of the hemorrhagic shock,damage control surgery was performed by means of ligation of the right portal vein branch and right hepatic artery,and hemostatic ***,the patient was referred immediately to our tertiary hepato-bilio-pancreatic *** performed depacking,a right hepatectomy and Roux-en-Y *** the 9th postoperative day,the patient developed a high output anastomotic bile leak that required a redo of the *** postoperative period was marked by a surgical incision site of incomplete evisceration that was managed non-operatively by negative wound *** follow-up was optimal,with no complications at 55 *** In conclusion,the current case clearly supports that a favorable outcome in severe liver trauma with associated vascular and biliary injuries is achieved thru proper therapeutic management,conducted in a tertiary referral hepato-bilio-pancreatic center,where a stepwise and complex surgical approach is mandatory.
