The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.

Objective:To evaluate the photoprotective,antioxidant,antiglycation,and antiacne activities of crude extract(CESs)and triterpene saponin fraction(TSSs)of Sapindus ***:HPLC-mS purification was performed on a Symmetry Tm C18 *** saponins were identified by a UV *** activity was evaluated by DPPH and O_(2)^(−)radicals scavenging,and frAP and TBArS *** activity was assessed by relative electrophoretic mobility and inhibition of advanced glycation end products(AGEs)***,antiacne activity was determined by inhibition of Cutibacterium acnes,and photoprotective effect was evaluated by mansur’s ***:most of the triterpene saponins detected in the fraction by HPLC-mS analysis were hederagenin as the *** and TSSs presented varying antioxidant activity in DPPH(CESs:75.69%and TSSs:83.65%),frAP(CESs:425.39μm TE/g DW and TSSs:649.36μm TE/g DW),TBArS(CESs:42.96%and TSSs:52.16%)and O_(2)^(−)radicals scavenging(CESs:61.33%and TSSs:86.69%)*** and TSSs also exhibited antiglycation activity comparable to bovine serum albumin treated with *** addition,CESs and TSSs showed inhibition of AGE formation(34.48%and 61.85%,respectively).Antiacne activity against Cutibacterium acnes was observed with a minimum inhibitory concentration equal to minimum bactericidal concentration(CESs:36.11µg/mL and TSSs:18.34µg/mL).In photoprotective assays,CESs and TSSs showed maximum absorbance of 1.42 to 0.20 and 2.80 to 1.30,respectively,in the wavelength range of 260 to 400 ***,CESs and TSSs showed sun protection factors of 8.89 and 14.89,***:Sapindus saponaria fruit extracts show strong antioxidant potential and antiglycation activity against bovine serum albumin glycation and AGE ***,they presented antibacterial activity against Cutibacterium acnes and photoprotective effect against UV-A and UV-B.

Objective This paper aims to evaluate the genotoxicity in peripheral blood lymphocytes of rats after exposure to sunlight at different time points of day in a tropical region of Brazil（5oS,42oW）.materials and methods Thirty Wistar-Hannover rats,three months old,were randomly divided into three groups of 10 animals each：Group I [control,without exposure to ultraviolet（UV） radiation],Group II（exposed to sunlight during 08：00 *** 10：00 a.m.）,and Group III（exposed to sunlight during 10：00 *** 12：00 a.m.）.After a week of exposure,peripheral blood samples were taken from the tail of these animals to prepare smears on two slides per *** 24 h after exposure to sunlight in Group III,a new collection was obtained to observe the repair *** alkaline comet assay was used in this study to evaluate the genotoxic activity of sunlight（P0.05）.results There was no statistical difference between Group I and II（P=0.672）.On the other hand,the exposure to sunlight in Group III showed genotoxic action in comparison to the other groups（P0.0001）.Also,there was no significant repair in Group III r（P=0.407）.Conclusion This study has shown a genotoxic potential of sunlight（UVA-B） in lymphocytes of mammals from 10：00 *** 12：00 a.m.,due to a higher intensity of UV in this tropical region.

Physiological Effect of Kinetin on the Photosynthetic Apparatus and Antioxidant Enzymes Activities During Production of Anthurium

The results observed in the literature raise the hypothesis according to which cytokinin plays important roles in photosynthetic metabolisms and antioxidant enzymes. Thus, the study aimed to evaluate the effect of foliar application of the isolated cytokinin kinetin at the production cycle, seeking to analyze its effects on enzyme activity and photosynthetic parameters. The plants treated with CK presented reduction of leaf CO_2 assimilation rate(Pn) and stomatal conductance(Gs), while that transpiration rate(Tr) was unaffected. The internal CO_2 concentrations decreased with the increase in cytokinin levels, but were maintained under CK 50 mg·L^(-1). The plants treated with CK 75 mg·L^(-1) was verified higher carboxylation efficiency(Pn/Ci), which was associated to values of CO_2 assimilation and transpiration unaltered. Apparent electron transport rate showed variations in the concentration of 25 mg·L^(-1). Considering the study of enzyme activity, on the other hand, it cannot be stated that kinetin has an effective action in delaying oxidative damage. It presents mixed results, since an efficiency in the application of cytokinin was not observed, presenting induction levels of ascorbate peroxidase activity. Thus, further research is needed to determine more precisely the effects of kinetin on gas exchange and antioxidant enzymes in anthurium plants.

Entropy model to assess sediment resuspension probability and trap efficiency of small dams

In the Brazilian drylands, there are tens of thousands of small dams. Despite their paramount importance to the rural population, they are rarely monitored. Water demand increases with time while, simultaneously, siltation reduces reservoir water capacity and availability. reservoir siltation models are, therefore, mandatory to manage the numerous ungauged small dams in these *** objective of the current study is to improve sediment trap efficiency(TE) modeling by including resuspension as a key probabilistic process. The Shannon entropy was used to estimate the sediment resuspension probability, which was merged with the Camp model and generated the rETSED entropy model. To validate the rETSED model, an experimental check dam(ECD, 300 m3), located in the Gilbu es desertification site, Brazil, was monitored hourly during one hydrological year(July 2018-July 2019). measurements show that the annual volumetric decline of the check dam was 12%; and that the average trap efficiency equaled 86%. Only 9.5% of the hourly sediment concentration outflow exceeded the average plus one standard deviation, showing that the reservoir is well mixed; a fact which highlights the relevance of the resuspension process. Three empirical models failed to mimic the experimental results: Churchill(TE = 99%), Brune(TE = 75%), and maryland(TE = 94%). According to the rETSED entropy model, the resuspension probability during the experiment was 10%and TE = 81%, a value only 6% below the measured one. The Camp model simulated TE = 89%, only 3%higher than the measured value, but confirmed the Camp model’s tendency to overestimate TE due to a disregard of resuspension. The deterministic model showed low sensitivity concerning the hydrodynamic effects, whereas the entropy formulation proved to be more consistent with physical behavior: the resuspension probability clearly increased and trap efficiency decreased with rising reservoir discharge.

Influenza is an acute respiratory infection caused by influenza viruses(IfV),According to the World Health Organization(WHO),seasonal IfV epidemics result in approximately 3-5 million cases of severe illness,leading to about half a million deaths worldwide,along with severe economic losses and social ***,frequent mutations in IfV lead to a certain lag in vaccine development as well as resistance to existing antiviral ***,it is of great importance to develop anti-IfV drugs with high efficiency against wild-type and resistant strains,needed in the fight against current and future outbreaks caused by different IfV *** this review,we summarize general strategies used for the discovery and development of antiviral agents targeting multiple IfV strains(including those resistant to available drugs).Structure-based drug design,mechanism-based drug design,multivalent interaction-based drug design and drug repurposing are amongst the most relevant strategies that provide a framework for the development of antiviral drugs targeting IfV.

mapping of the Brazilian Groups Studying Nanocellulose

recovery of valuable metals from waste cables by employing mechanical processing followed by spouted bed elutriation

Cables and wires, which are essential parts of equipment for the transmission of both information and electricity, contain valuable materials including copper (Cu) and aluminum (Al). This experimental work evaluates the use of mechanical processing (grinding and sieving), followed by spouted bed elutriation, for separation of the valuable materials (steel-coated copper, copper, and aluminum) present in waste coaxial and internet cables. A recovery efficiency of approximately 90% was achieved for the steel-coated copper in coaxial cables. for in ternet cables, the copper recovery efficiency was approximately 87%. These findings dem on strate that it is possible to separate, recover, and recycle the valuable materials (metals) present in waste cables using simple, low-cost, and efficient mechanical processing followed by spouted bed elutriation.

Wettability of silicon carbide ceramic by Al_2O_3/Dy_2O_3 and Al_2O_3/Yb_2O_3 systems

Wettability is an important phenomenon in the liquid phase sintering of silicon carbide （SiC） ceramics. This work involved a study of the wetting of SiC ceramics by two oxide systems, Al2O3 /Dy2O3 and Al2O3 /Yb2O3, which have so far not been studied for application in the sintering of SiC ceramics. five mixtures of each system were prepared, with different compositions close to their respective eutectic ones. Samples of the mixtures were pressed into cylindrical specimens, which were placed on a SiC plate and subjected to temperatures above their melting points using a graphite resistance furnace. The behavior of the melted mixtures on the SiC plate was observed by means of an imaging system using a CCD camera and the sessile drop method was employed to determine the contact angle, the parameter that measures the degree of wettability. The results of variation in the contact angle as a function of temperature were plotted in graphic form which showed that the curves displayed a fast decline and good spreading. All the samples of the two systems presented final contact angles of 40o to 10o indicating their good wetting on SiC in the argon atmosphere. The melted/solidified area and interface between SiC and melted/solidified phase were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy （SEm） and their crystalline phases were identified by X-ray diffraction （DrX）. The DrX analysis showed that Al2O3 and rE2O3 reacted and formed the Dy3Al5O12 （DyAg） and Yb3Al5O12 （YbAg） phases. The results indicated that the two systems had a promising potential as additives for the sintering of SiC ceramics.
