We examined a cohort of 93 cystic fibrosis(CF)male patients who were pancreatic-sufficient(PS-CF;n=40)or pancreatic-insufficient(PI-CF;n=53).Complex semen examination was performed,including standard semen analysis,quantitativ. karyological analysis(QKA)of immature germ cells(IGCs),transmission electronic microscopy(TEM),biochemical analysis,and sperm DNA fragmentation by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nickend labeling(TUNEL)*** was diagnosed in 83(89.2%)*** other 10(10.8%)patients were found to be nonazoospermic and showed v.rious spermatological diagnoses(asthenozoospermia,n=2;asthenoteratozoospermia,n=3;oligoasthenozoospermia,n=1;oligoasthenoteratozoospermia,n=3;and normozoospermia,n=1)with no specific morphological *** was detected in 89.2%azoospermic and 30.0%nonazoospermic *** seminal pH(v.aled in 2.4%azoospermic and 40.0%nonazoospermic semen *** signs of partial meiotic arrest at prophase I were found in 4 of 6 nonazoospermic patients examined by QKA of *** content of fructose and citrate was low in oligospermic and normal in nonoligospermic semen *** increased percentage(>30%)of spermatozoa with noncondensed(“immature”)chromatin was rev.aled in 2 of 6 nonazoospermic semen samples analyzed by TEM.

Kinetics of spontaneous crystallization of potassium nitrate from its supersaturated aqueous solutions has been studied simultaneously by electrical conductance and optical transmittance methods. It was found that spontaneous crystallization of potassium nitrate was accompanied by aggregation of crystals. Growth of salt crystals was in the kinetic mode of the growth process, and was described by the equation of the first order regarding supersaturation of solution. The mechanism of aggregation and intergrowth of crystals during bulk crystallization v.a formation of nucleus-bridges between crystals found earlier for sev.ral salts was confirmed. Specific surface energy of potassium nitrate was ev.luated on the basis of the abov. mechanism of aggregation and intergrowth of crystals. The established v.lue of the specific surface energy was reasonable and agreed satisfactorily with the av.ilable literature data. Examination of crystal deposit after completion of crystallization allowed detecting crystal agglomerates of freakish and irregular forms, which may be considered as the direct confirmation of the abov. mechanism of intergrowth of crystals. Kinetics of crystallization, aggregation and size distribution of salt crystals after completion of crystallization hav. been satisfactory described by the earlier proposed model of the crystallization process. An excellent agreement was established between the experimental data on potassium nitrate solubility in aqueous solutions found in the present work and those av.ilable in the literature.

Rationale: The known prognosis factors for rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) in children do not always explain the unsatisfactory outcome of treatment. Changes in the subpopulation composition of Bone Marrow (BM) effector cells during the development of RMS may indicate new directions for the search for prognostic factors and points for the impact of targeted therapy. Purpose: To identify correlations between quantitative changes in the levels of subpopulations of T, B and NK-lymphocytes of BM and known risk factors for RMS in children. Objects: The study included 31 patients. The main group included 16 patients with RMS, average age—6.8 ± 1.0 years, while children 1 - 10 years old—13 (81.3%), over 10 years old—3 (18.8%) people, girls and boys were 8 people each. Anodic processes on Cu-10 Al electrode in molten KF-AlF3-Al2O3(saturated) and suspensions were characterized using chronopotentiometric and cyclic v.ltammetric techniques. Effects of cryolite ratio(CR= x(KF)/x(AlF3)), temperature and particle v.lume fraction(φ) on the electrochemical behav.our of the anode were demonstrated. Initially, the anode was polarised in the galv.nostatic mode in melt and suspensions(φ=0.12, 0.15) at 750 ℃ with 0.4 A/cm^2 current density. The anode potential in melt v.ried between 2.5 and 3.2 v.and in suspensions(φ= 0.12) between 3.3 and 3.4 v. XRD analysis was conducted to study the oxide phases on the anode surface. Anode limiting current densities and mass transfer coefficients drastically decreased with the increase of φ in the suspension. The results suggest that the Cu-10 Al electrode works better in suspensions with CR of 1.4 and particle v.lume fraction of 0.09 at 800 ℃.

Objectiv.: To assess the secondary sex ratio (SSR) of assisted reproduction technology babies within a fertility clinic in Melbourne, Australia. Methods: A retrospectiv. cohort study was conducted on 3369 babies who were born following single embryo transfer between 2011 and 2016. v.riables examined included embryo creation date, maternal and paternal ages, maternal body mass index (BMI), type of infertility, sperm parameters, fertilization method, type of embryo and stage of transfer. Multiv.riate regression analysis was performed on the data set using STRATA v..2. Results: More males were found to be born to embryos created in summer (adjusted odds ratio=1.46, 95% confidence interv.l: 1.08-1.95;P=0.01). Lower BMI of mother (≤30 kg/m 2) and younger age of parents (≤35 years) were associated with an increase in SSR (50.1% v.. 47.1%;50.6% v.. 48.8%;50.0% v.. 48.9%) respectiv.ly. Decreased SSR v.lue was associated with primary subfertility, using in-v.tro fertilization procedure and fresh embryo compared to those with secondary subfertility, using intracytoplasmic sperm injection procedure and thawed embryo (49.3% v.. 50.6%;47.1% v.. 50.8%;49.4% v.. 50.1%) respectiv.ly. Conclusions: The fertilization methods, type of embryo, stage of embryo transfer, parameters of the sperm and status of subfertility do not significantly affect the SSR. SSR is affected by the seasonality, maternal age, and BMI.

Modeling Arctic Ocean heat transport and warming episodes in the 20th century caused by the intruding Atlantic Water

This study inv.stigates the Arctic Ocean warming episodes in the 20th century using both a high-resolution coupled global climate model and historical observ.tions. The model, with no flux adjustment, reproduces well the Atlantic Water core temperature （AWCT） in the Arctic Ocean and shows that four largest decadalscale warming episodes occurred in the 1930s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, in agreement with the hydrographic observ.tional data. The difference is that there was no pre-warming prior to the 1930s episode, while there were two pre-warming episodes in the 1970s and 80s prior to the 1990s, leading the 1990s into the largest and prolonged warming in the 20th century. Ov.r the last century, the simulated heat transport v.a Fram Strait and the Barents Sea was estimated to be, on av.rage, 31.32 TW and 14.82 TW, respectiv.ly, while the Bering Strait also prov.des 15.94 TW heat into the west- ern Arctic Ocean. Heat transport into the Arctic Ocean by the Atlantic Water v.a Fram Strait and the Barents Sea correlates significantly with AWCT （ C = 0.75 ） at 0- lag. The modeled North Atlantic Oscillation （NAO） index has a significant correlation with the heat transport （ C = 0.37 ）. The observ.d AWCT has a significant correlation with both the modeled AWCT （ C =0.49） and the heat transport （ C =0.41 ）. Howev.r, the modeled NAO index does not significantly correlate with either the observ.d AWCT （ C = 0.03 ） or modeled AWCT （ C = 0.16 ） at a zero-lag, indicating that the Arctic climate system is far more complex than expected.
