Fluorescence-based techniques are the cornerstone of modern biomedical optics,with applications ranging from bioimaging at various scales(organelle to organism)to detection and quantification of a wide variety of biological species of ***,the weakness of the fluorescence signal remains a persistent challenge in meeting the ever-increasing demand to image,detect,and quantify biological species with low ***,we report a simple and universal method based on a flexible and conformal elastomeric film with adsorbed plasmonic nanostructures,which we term a“plasmonic patch,”that provides large(up to 100-fold)and uniform fluorescence enhancement on a variety of surfaces through simple transfer of the plasmonic patch to the *** demonstrate the applications of the plasmonic patch in improving the sensitivity and limit of detection(by more than 100 times)of fluorescence-based immunoassays implemented in microtiter plates and in microarray *** novel fluorescence enhancement approach presented here represents a disease,biomarker,and application agnostic ubiquitously applicable fundamental and enabling technology to immediately improve the sensitivity of existing analytical methodologies in an easy-to-handle and cost-effective manner,without changing the original procedures of the existing techniques.

This research paper assesses the reality of Climate-Smart Agriculture(CSA)practices’potential to promote the outcomes of sustainable food systems(SFS)within Ghana’s smallholding agriculture *** study demon-strates that rural farmers generally perceive CSA’s contribution to‘food and nutrition security’and‘economic performance’as more important than CSA’s contribution to‘social equity’and‘environmental stewardship’.From a narrow perspective,the study demonstrates that farmers perceive CSA’s potential to‘prevent pest and disease outbreaks’and‘increase human capital information’as the most important contribution of CSA to SFS *** contrast,CSA’s potential to promote environmental stewardship is perceived as the least important among Ghana’s rural *** enormity of displacement of smallholders’perceptions at large is motivated by de-mographic,socioeconomic and ecological ***,the CSA for SFS outcomes narratives is driven by farmers’self-apprise,social networks and other local information dissemination ***,research findings suggest farmers’awareness of CSA practices and interventions is deficient owing to unmet training and information needs for approximately 82%of the CSA practices and *** situation elucidates the dichotomy of CSA practices’narratives as tools for attaining food,nutrition security and economic performance to the detriment of critical issues such as increasing awareness and building farmers’capacity to engage with CSA practices while also managing socio-ecological trade-offs that emerge over time due to engagement with ***(re)orientation is needed across the scale to drive CSA practices and interventions that confine cli-mate adaptation and food production practices within safe planetary boundaries without undermining social,economic,food and nutrition security needs.

Ketamine,a noncompetitive N-methyl-d-aspartate(NMdA)receptor antagonist,has been exclusively used as an anesthetic in medicine and has led to new insights into the pathophysiology of neuropsychiatric *** studies have shown that low subanesthetic doses of ketamine produce antidepressant effects for individuals with ***,its use as a treatment for psychiatric disorders has been limited due to its reinforcing effects and high potential for diversion and *** studies have focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying ketamine’s antidepressant effects,but a precise mechanism had yet to be *** we review different hypotheses for ketamine’s mechanism of action including the direct inhibition and disinhibition of NMdA receptors,aminomethylphosphonic acid receptors(AMPAR)activation,and heightened activation of monoaminergic *** proposed mechanisms are not mutually exclusive,and their combined influence may exert the observed structural and functional neural *** term use of ketamine induces brain structural,functional impairments,and neurodevelopmental effects in both rodents and *** misuse has increased rapidly in the past 20 years and is one of the most common addictive drugs used in *** proposed mechanisms of action and supporting neuroimaging data allow for the development of tools to identify‘biotypes’of ketamine use disorder(KUd)using machine learning approaches,which could inform intervention and treatment.

Effect of different Etching Time on Fabrication of an Optoelectronic device Based on GaN/Psi

Gallium nitride(GaN)/porous silicon(PSi)film was prepared using a pulsed laser deposition method and 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser for optoelectronic applications and a series of Psi substrates were fabricated using a photoelectrochemical etching method assisted by laser at different etching times for 2.5–15 min at 2.5 min intervals.X-ray diffraction,room-temperature photoluminescence,atomic force microscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy images,and electrical characteristics in the prepared GaN on the Psi film were *** optimum Psi substrate was obtained under the following conditions:10 min,10 mA/cm^(2),and 24%hydrofluoric *** substrate exhibited two highly cubic crystalline structures at(200)and(400)orientations and yellow visible band photoluminescence,and homogeneous pores formed over the entire *** pores had steep oval shapes and were accompanied by small dark pores that appeared topographically and *** GaN/Psi film fabricated through PLd exhibited a high and hexagonal crystallographic texture in the(002)*** properties results revealed that the photoluminescence emission of the deposited nano-GaN films was in the ultraviolet band(374 nm)related to GaN material and in the near-infrared band(730 nm)related to the Psi *** topographical and morphological results of the GaN films confirmed that the deposited film contained spherical grains with an average diameter of 51.8 nm and surface roughness of 4.8 *** GaN/Psi surface showed a cauliflower-like morphology,and the built-in voltage decreased from 3.4 to 2.7 eV after *** fabricated GaN/Psi film exhibited good electrical characteristics.

It has been shown before that liquids can slip at a solid boundary,which prompted the idea that parallel-surfaces bearings can be achieved just by alternating slip and non-slip regions in the direction of fluid *** amount of slip at the wall depends on the surface tension at the liquid-solid interface,which in turn depends on the chemical state of the surface and its *** the present study a heterogeneous surface was obtained by coating half of a circular glass disc with a coating repellant to glycerol.A rotating glass disc was placed at a known/calibrated distance and the gap was filled with *** the mobile surface moving from the direction of slip to non-slip region it can be theoretically shown that a pressure build up can be *** pressure gradient in the two regions is constant,similar to that in a Rayleigh step bearing,with the maximum pressure at the separation *** heterogeneous disc was placed on a holder supported by a load cell thus the force generated by this pressure increase can be measured *** were carried out at different sliding speeds and gaps and the load carried was measured and subsequently compared with theoretical *** allowed the slip coefficient to be evaluated.

Polymersomes scalably fabricated via flash nano- precipitation are non-toxic in non-human primates and associate with leukocytes in the spleen and kidney following intravenous administration

Vesicular nanocarrier formulations confer the ability to deliver hydrophobic and hydrophilic cargos simultaneously to cells of interest in vivo. While liposomal formulations reached the clinic long ago, younger technologies such as polymeric vesicles （polymersomes） have yet to make the transition to clinical approval and use, in part due to difficulties in ensuring their safe and scalable production. In this work, we demonstrate the scalable production of poly（ethylene glycol）-block-poly（propylene sulfide）（PEG-bl-PPS） polymersomes via flash nanoprecipitation, and further show the safe administration of these nanocarriers to mice and non-human primates. In mice, PEG-bl-PPS polymersomes were found to be well tolerated at up to 200 mg/（***）. Following the administration of a more relevant 20 mg/（***） dosage in non-human primates, polymersomes were found to associate with numerous phagocytic immune cell populations, including a remarkable 68% of plasmacytoid dendritic cells and 〉 95% of macrophages in the spleen, while showing no toxicity or abnormalities in the liver, kidney, spleen, or blood. despite the presence of a dense PEG corona, neither anti-PEG antibodies nor complement activation were detected. This work provides evidence of the translatability of PEG-bI-PPS polymersomes into the clinic for therapeutic applications in humans.

Over 95% of plastid proteins are nuclear-encoded as their precursors containing an N-terminal extension known as the transit peptide （TP）. Although highly variable, TPs direct the precursors through a conserved, posttranslational mechanism involving translocons in the outer （TOC） and inner envelope （TOC）. The organelle import specificity is mediated by one or more components of the Toc complex. However, the high TP diversity creates a paradox on how the sequences can be specifically recognized. An emerging model of TP design is that they contain multiple loosely conserved motifs that are recognized at different steps in the targeting and transport process. Bioinformatics has demonstrated that many TPs contain semiconserved physicochemical motifs, termed FGLK. In order to characterize FGLK motifs in TP recognition and import, we have analyzed two well-studied TPs from the precursor of RuBisCO small subunit （SStp） and ferredoxin （Fdtp）. Both SStp and Fdtp contain two FGLK motifs. Analysis of large set mutations （-85） in these two motifs using in vitro, in organello, and in vivo approaches support a model in which the FGLK domains mediate interaction with TOC34 and possibly other TOC components. In vivo import analysis suggests that multiple FGLK motifs are functionally redundant. Furthermore, we discuss how FGLK motifs are required for efficient precursor protein import and how these elements may permit a convergent function of this highly variable class of targeting sequences.

The authors prove that the total descendant potential functions of the theory of Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten for d4 with symmetry group J and for d4T with symmetry group Gmax, respectively, are both tau-functions of the d4 Kac-Wakimoto/drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy. This completes the proof, begun in the article by Fan-Jarvis-Ruan（2013）, of the Witten Integrable Hierarchies Conjecture for all simple（AdE） singularities.

Theoretical potential for low energy consumption phase change memory utilizing electrostatically-induced structural phase transitions in 2d materials

Structural phase-change materials are of great importance for applications in information storage *** driven structural phase transitions are employed in phase-change memory to achieve lower programming voltages and potentially lower energy consumption than mainstream nonvolatile memory ***,the waste heat generated by such thermal mechanisms is often not optimized,and could present a limiting factor to widespread *** potential for electrostatically driven structural phase transitions has recently been predicted and subsequently reported in some two-dimensional materials,providing an athermal mechanism to dynamically control properties of these materials in a nonvolatile fashion while achieving potentially lower energy *** this work,we employ dFT-based calculations to make theoretical comparisons of the energy required to drive electrostatically-induced and thermally-induced phase *** theoretical limits in monolayer MoTe2 and thin films of Ge_(2)Sb_(2)Te_(5),we find that the energy consumption per unit volume of the electrostatically driven phase transition in monolayer MoTe2 at room temperature is 9% of the adiabatic lower limit of the thermally driven phase transition in Ge_(2)Sb_(2)Te_(5).Furthermore,experimentally reported phase change energy consumption of Ge_(2)Sb_(2)Te_(5) is 100–10,000 times larger than the adiabatic lower limit due to waste heat flow out of the material,leaving the possibility for energy consumption in monolayer MoTe2-based devices to be orders of magnitude smaller than Ge_(2)Sb_(2)Te_(5)-based devices.
