The interfaces between the inorganic metal oxide and organic photoactive layer are of outmost importance for efficiency and stability in organic solar cells(OSCs).Tin oxide(SnO_(2))is one of the promising candidates for the electron transport layer(ETL)in high-performance inverted *** a solution-processed SnO_(2)ETL is employed,however,the presence of interfacial defects and suboptimal interfacial contact can lower the power conversion efficiency(PCE)and operational stability of ***,highly efficient and stable inverted OSCs by modification of the SnO_(2)surface with ultraviolet(UV)-curable acrylate oligomers(SAR and OCS)are *** highest PCEs of 16.6%and 17.0%are achieved in PM6:Y6-BO OSCs with the SAR and OCS,respectively,outperforming a device with a bare SnO_(2)ETL(PCE 13.8%).The remarkable enhancement of PCEs is attributed to the optimized interfacial contact,leading to mitigated surface *** strikingly,improved light-soaking and thermal stability strongly correlated with the interfacial defects are demonstrated for OSCs based on SnO_(2)/UV cross-linked resins compared to OSCs utilizing bare SnO_(2).We believe that UV cross-linking oligomers will play a key role as interfacial modifiers in the future fabrication of large-area and flexible OSCs with high efficiency and stability.

Signal transducer and activator of transcription factor 3(STAT3)is a transcription factor that regulates various cellular processes such as proliferation,survival and angiogenesis in cancer *** the present study,we investigated the mechanisms whereby isothiocyanate sulforaphane(SFN)suppresses STAT3 activation in DU145 prostate cancer *** significantly inhibited SFN-inhibited STAT3 phosphorylation at Tyr705 as well as the deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)binding capability in electrophoresis mobility shift assay(EMSA)in time-and concentration-dependent *** also abrogated the Janus activated kinase 2(JAK2)*** addition,SFN down-regulated STAT3-related gene products including Bcl-2,Bcl-xL,and cyclin D1 and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),and inhibited the proliferation and induced ***,SFN mediated reactive oxygen species(ROS)production at the early ***,these results demonstrate that ROS generation may be involved in the inhibition of JAK2/STAT3 activation and apoptosis in DU145 cells.

The effects of reduction ratio during roll bonding on the microstructural evolution at interface and subsequent mechanical properties of roll-bonded Al/Cu 2-ply sheets were investigated. The interface microstructures for several Al/Cu 2-ply sheets fabricated under different reduction ratios between 30% and 65% were verified by transmission electron microscopy(TEM). Taking the difference of interface microstructure into consideration, 3-point bending and peel tests were performed for obtaining flexural and bonding strengths for Al/Cu 2-ply sheets. The effect of the quantified areas of metallurgical bonding at interfaces on the bonding strength was also discussed. The results show that both the bonding and flexural strengths for Al/Cu 2-ply sheets are reduced by decreasing the reduction ratio during the roll bonding process, which is strongly correlated with the interface microstructure. This was especially verified by observing the interface delamination from the 3-point bent samples.

We investigated whether inhibiting phosphorylated p70S6K （p-p70S6K） suppresses the proliferation and growth of noninvasive low-grade urothelial carcinoma （LG-URCa） in vitro and whether p-p70S6K can serve as a predictive biomarker for the recurrence of noninvasive LG-URCa of the bladder in patients. We constructed a tissue microarray （TMA） for 95 LG-URCa and 35 benign urothelium samples and performed immunohistochemical staining for p-p70S6K and p-4E-BP1. A Cox regression model was used to investigate the predictive factors for recurrence of LG-URCa. We investigated the dose-dependent antiproliferative effect of rapamycin, its antiproliferative effect and the growth-inhibition effect of p70S6K siRNA transfection in RT4 and 253J cell lines. The pT1 staged group （P 〈 0.05; hazard ratio （HR）, 2.415） and the high p-p70S6K staining group （P 〈 0.05; HR, 2.249） were independent factors for predicting recurrence. Rapamycin inhibited RT4 and 253J cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner （r = -0.850, P 〈 0.001 in RT4 cells; r = -0.835, P 〈 0.001 in 253J cells）. RT4 and 253J cell proliferation and growth were inhibited by the transfection of p70S6K siRNA and rapamycin, respectively （P 〈 0.05）. Transfection of p70S6K siRNA resulted in inhibitory effects on cell proliferation and growth that were similar to those of rapamycin. Our results suggest that inhibiting p70S6K phosphorylation is important to prevent recurrence and that p70S6K phosphorylation can be used as a molecular biomarker to predict recurrence of certain LG-URCa of the bladder.

A decoupled procedure for convection-radiation simulation in scramjets

Following an order analysis of key parameters, a decoupled procedure for simulation of convection-radiation heat transfer problems in supersonic combustion ramjet(scramjet) engine was developed. The radiation module of the procedure consisted of Perry 5GG weighted sum gray gases model for spectral property calculation and discrete ordinates method S4 scheme for radiative transfer computation, while the flow field was computed using the Favrè average conservative Navier-Stokes(N-S) equations, in conjunction with Menter's k-ω SST two-equation model. A series of 2D supersonic nonreactive turbulent channel flows of radiative participants with selective parameters were simulated for validation purpose. Radiative characteristics in DLR hydrogen fueled and NASA SCHOLAR ethylene fueled scramjets were numerically studied using the developed procedure. The results indicated that the variations of spatial distributions of the radiative source and total absorption coefficient are highly consistent with those of the temperature and radiative participants, while the spatial distribution of the incident radiation spreads wider. It also demonstrated that the convective heating is significantly affected by the complexity of the flow field, such as the shock wave/boundary layer interactions, while the radiative heating is simply an integral effect of the whole flow field. Although the radiative heating in the combustion chambers reaches a certain level, an order of magnitude of 10 k W/m2, it still contributes little to the total heat transfer(<7%).

Protein ubiquitination is an important means of posttranslational modification which plays an essential role in the regulation of various aspects of leukocyte development and function. The specificity of ubiquitin tagging to a protein substrate is determined by E3 ubiquitin ligases via defined E3-substrate interactions. In this review, we will focus on two E3 ligases, VHL and Itch, to discuss the latest progress in understanding their roles in the differentiation and function of CD4+ T helper cell subsets, the stability of regulatory T cells, effector function of CD8+ T cells, as well as the development and maturation of innate lymphoid cells. The biological implications of these E3 ubiquitin ligases will be highlighted in the context of normal and dysregulated immune responses including the control of homeostasis, inflammation, auto-immune responses and anti-tumor immunity. Further elucidation of the ubiquitin system in immune cells will help in the design of new therapeutic interventions for human immunological diseases and cancer.
