Water flooding and pressure maintenance are recommended to improve oil recovery practices after low recovery of petroleum reservoirs occurs during primary *** crystal formation is a frequent occurrence when using these *** experimental,numerical,and theoretical studies have been done on the mechanisms underlying scaling and permeability reduction in porous media;however,there has not been a satisfactory model *** study developed a phenomenological model to predict formation damage caused by salt *** with existing models,which provide a scaling tendency,the proposed model predicts the profile of scale *** salt precipitation model simulates reactive fluid flow through porous media.A thermodynamic,kinetic,and flow hydrodynamic model was developed and coupled with the ion transport equation to describe the movement of ***,a set of carefully designed dynamic experiments were conducted and the data were compared with the model *** forecasts and experimental data were observed to have an average absolute error(AAE)ranging from 0.68%to 5.94%,which indicates the model's suitability.

Co-integration of nanomaterials into microdevices poses several technological challenges and presents numerous scientific opportunities that have been addressed in this paper by integrating zinc oxide nanowires(ZnO-NWs)into a microfluidic *** addition to the applications of these combined materials,this work focuses on the study of the growth dynamics and uniformity of nanomaterials in a tiny microfluidic reactor environment.A unique experimental platform was built through the integration of a noninvasive optical charaaerization technique with the microfluidic *** platform allowed the unprecedented demonstration of time-resolved and spatially resolved monitoring of the in situ growth of NWs,in which the chemicals were continuously fed into the microfluidic *** platform was also used to assess the uniformity of NWs grown quickly in a 10-mm-wide microchamber,which was intentionally chosen to be 20 times wider than those used in previous attempts because it can accommodate applications requiring a large surface of interaction while still taking advantage of submillimeter *** observations included the effects of varying the flow rate on the NW diameter and length in addition to a synergetic effect of continuous renewal of the growth solution and the confined environment of the chemical reaction.

The importance of using adaptive traffic signal control for figuring out the unpredictable traffic congestion in today's metropolitan life cannot be overemphasized. The vehicular ad hoc network(VANET), as an integral component of intelligent transportation systems(ITSs), is a new potent technology that has recently gained the attention of academics to replace traditional instruments for providing information for adaptive traffic signal controlling systems(TSCSs). Meanwhile, the suggestions of VANET-based TSCS approaches have some weaknesses:(1) imperfect compatibility of signal timing algorithms with the obtained VANET-based data types, and(2) inefficient process of gathering and transmitting vehicle density information from the perspective of network quality of service(Qo S). This paper proposes an approach that reduces the aforementioned problems and improves the performance of TSCS by decreasing the vehicle waiting time, and subsequently their pollutant emissions at intersections. To achieve these goals, a combination of vehicle-to-vehicle(V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure(V2I) communications is used. The V2 V communication scheme incorporates the procedure of density calculation of vehicles in clusters, and V2 I communication is employed to transfer the computed density information and prioritized movements information to the road side traffic controller. The main traffic input for applying traffic assessment in this approach is the queue length of vehicle clusters at the intersections. The proposed approach is compared with one of the popular VANET-based related approaches called MC-DRIVE in addition to the traditional simple adaptive TSCS that uses the Webster method. The evaluation results show the superiority of the proposed approach based on both traffic and network Qo S criteria.

About 8%of the imported iron oxide pellets burdens to Egypt are *** this paper,broken pellets waste(BPW)is used as raw material for the preparation of hard magnetic glass ceramics(HMGC)as well as soft magnetic glass ceramics(SMGC).About 54 wt%and 37 wt%of BPW are used to prepare SMGC and HMGC,*** thermal analysis(DTA)reveals two broad exothermic peaks for HMGC at 591℃and 697℃,whereas one exothermic peak at 820℃is detected for SMGC.X-ray diffraction(XRD)shows the crystallization of hematite as the sol phase in BPW,and meanwhile,Zn-ferrite and Ba-hexaferrite are identified in SMGC and HMGC,*** electron microscopy(TEM)reveals the crystallization of nanosize particles of~20 nm for SMGC and~12 nm for *** scanning magnetometer(VSM)reveals an increase in saturation magnetization from~1 emu/g for BPW to~77 emu/g for SMGC and 21 emu/g for HMGC.

Regeneration of craniofacial bone defects is a key issue in the bone regeneration ***,novel treatment strategies,such as tissue engineering using porous scaffolds,have been *** ideal tissue-engineered scaffold for bone tissue regeneration should possess pores to facilitate nutrients transmission and support repar-ative tissue ingrowth,bioactivity for osteoconduction and osseointegration,and biocompatibility to improve cell attachment,proliferation,and extracellular matrix *** the present study,we manufactured chitosan-based hydrogels substituted with alginate with optimized properties by extrusion-based three-dimensional(3D)printing.3D printing of the scaffolds enables the designing and developing of complex architectures for cranio-facial reconstruction using computer-aided design(CAD).Different ratios(2.5,5,and 10%)of hydroxyapatite were added to the hydrogel,printed,and subsequently lyophilized to augment the physical and biological char-acteristics of the *** incorporation into the chitosan-based scaffolds increased the porosity and pore size of the printed *** addition,the presence of hydroxyapatite amplified apatite formation and decreased the size of formed apatite *** the scaffold samples showed biocompatible properties and did not have toxicity toward rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem ***,the scaffolds containing 5%w/w hydroxyapatite exhibited significant growth in cell viability compared to the ***,it is concluded that chitosan-based scaffolds adorned with hydroxyapatite are considerable for regenerating craniofacial bone defects.

BACKGROUND: Timely identifi cation of high blood lactate levels in septic patients may allow faster detection of those patients requiring immediate resuscitation. Point-of-care(POC) testing is being increasingly utilized in the emergency department(ED). We examined the accuracy and timesaving effect of a handheld POC lactate device for the measurement of fingertip and whole blood lactate as compared with reference laboratory blood testing in septic ED ***: A convenience sample of adult ED patients receiving serum lactate testing were enrolled prospectively in the ED of a multidisciplinary tertiary care hospital serving the population of one of the major cities of Pakistan. Participants underwent fi ngertip POC lactate measurement with a portable device and simultaneous whole blood sampling for analysis by both the POC lactate device and standard laboratory method. Lactate measurements were compared by intraclass correlation(ICC) and Bland and Altman ***: Forty-three septic patients were included in the study. The fingertip POC & whole blood POC lactate measurements each correlated tightly with the reference method(ICC=0.93 & ICC=0.92, respectively). Similarly at 6 hours, the fingertip POC & whole blood POC lactate measurements demonstrated satisfactory correlation with the reference method(ICC=0.95 & ICC=0.97, respectively).CONCLUSION: Fingertip POC lactate measurement is an accurate method to determine lactate levels in septic ED *** WORDS: Sepsis; Point of care; Lactate; Emergency department;

The effect of swelling agent on the physicochemical properties of mesoporous hydroxyapatite particles synthesized by self-assembly process has been investigated. Cetyl trimethylammonium bromide(CTAB) and 1-dodecanethiol were used as soft template and swelling agent respectively. The results of the field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), simultaneous thermal analysis(STA), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET) surface area, small-angle X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)assessments revealed that in the case of low concentration, 1-dodecanethiol performed as swelling agent and caused an increase in the pore size. However, at higher concentrations it led to the formation of microemulsion and foamy structures. The optimum swelling agent: surfactant mass ratio in synthesis of mesoporous hydroxyapatite particles with high pore volume was determined to be around 2.1 in this study.

A narrative review of the success of intramuscular gluteal injections and its impact in psychiatry

There are 12 billion injections given worldwide every year. For many injections, the intramuscular route is favoured over the subcutaneous route due to the increased vascularity of muscle tissue and the corresponding increase in the bioavailability of drugs when administered intramuscularly. This paper is a review of the variables that affect the success of intramuscular injections and the implications that these success rates have in psychiatry and general medicine. Studies have shown that the success rates of intended intramuscular injections vary between 32 and 52%, with the rest potentially resulting in inadvertent subcutaneous drug deposition. These rates are found to be even lower for certain at-risk populations, such as obese patients and those on antipsychotic medications. The variables associated with an increased risk of injection failure include female sex, obesity, site of injection, and subcutaneous fat depth. New guidelines and methods are needed in order to address this challenge and ensure that patients receive optimum care. Looking forward, the best way to improve the delivery of intramuscular injections worldwide is to develop uniform algorithms or innovative medical devices to confirm or guarantee successful delivery at the bedside.
