Does N ratio affect survival in D1 and D2 lymph node dissection for gastric cancer?

AIM:To identify whether there could have been changes in survival if lymph node ratio (N ratio) had been ***:We assessed 334 gastric adenocarcinoma cases retrospectively between 2001 and *** hundred and sixteen patients out of 334 were included in the *** were grouped according to disection1 (D1) or dissection 2 (D2) *** compared the estimated survival and actual survival determined by Pathologic nodes (pN) class and N ratio,and SPSS 15.0 software was used for statistical ***:Ninety-six (44.4%) patients underwent D1 dissection and 120 (55.6%) had D2 *** groups were evaluated,23 (24.0%) patients in D1 and 21 (17.5%) in D2 had stage migration (P=0.001).When both D1 and D2 groups were evaluated for number of pathological lymph nodes,despite the fact that there was no difference in N ratio between D1 and D2 groups,a statistically significant difference was found between them with regard to pN1 and pN2 groups (P=0.047,P=0.044 respectively).In D1,pN0 had the longest survival while pN3 had the *** D2,pN0 had the longest survival whereas pN3 had the shortest ***:N ratio is an accurate staging system for defining prognosis and treatment plan,thus decreasing methodological errors in gastric cancer staging.

Objective:To investigate which cytokines are produced after acute infection of mice with Toxoplasma gondii(***) RH ***:Mus domesticus domesticus mice in infected group were inoculated with with highly virulent *** RH strain by *** samples were obtained from infected and non-infected mice for cytokine levels for ELISA ***:The concentrations of tumor necrosis factor-α,interferon-γ,interleukin(IL)- 10 and IL-12 in the cardiac blood sample of the infected mice were significantly higher than those in uninfected controls(P0.05).Conclusions:According to our findings,immune response into T helper type 1 was predominant during acute *** *** characterization and purification of Toxoplasma molecule(s) implicated in the regulation of cytokines could lead to the development of new drug prospects to control Toxoplasma infection.

The high-speed railway and high-way networks are now expanding at a phenomenal speed in Chinaand in many other parts of the world. The related broadband wireless communication over high-speed trains and highway vehicles is a very challenging task due to hostile transmission channel conditions. The demand for such services is growing rapidly, following the proliferation of laptop/tablet computers and smart phones. This motivates the research on wireless communications in the high mobility environments.

AIM:To investigate the in vitro effects of pantoprazole on rat lower esophageal sphincter(LES)***:Rats weighing 250-300 g,provided by the Yeditepe University Experimental Research Center(Yü-DETAM),were used throughout the *** were anesthetized before *** tissues whose mucosal lining were removed were placed in a stan-dard 30-mL organ bath with a modif ied Krebs solution and continuously aerated with 95% oxygen-5% carbon dioxide gas mixture and kept at room *** tissues were allowed to stabilize for 60 ***-sequently,the contractile response to 10-6 mol/L carba-chol was *** concentrations of freshly prepared pantoprazole were added directly to the tis-sue bath to generate cumulative concentrations of 5×10-6 mol/L,5×10-5 mol/L,and 1.5×10-4 mol/***-ties were recorded on an online computer via a 4-channeltransducer data acquisition system using the software BSL PRO v 3.7,which also analyzed the ***:Pantoprazole at 5×10-6 mol/L caused a small,but statistically insignif icant,relaxation in the car-bachol-contracted LES(2.23% vs 3.95%).The 5×10-5 mol/L concentration,however,caused a signif icant relax-ation of 10.47% compared with the control.1.5×10-4 mol/L concentration of pantoprazol caused a 19.89% relaxation in the carbachol contracted LES(P<0.001).CONCLUSION:This is the fi rst study to demonstrate that pantoprazole has a relaxing effect in isolated *** results might have signif icant clinical implications for the subset of patients using proton pump inhibitors who do not receive full symptomatic alleviation from gastroesophageal reflux disease.

This paper introduces a new datapath architecture for reconfigurable processors. The proposed datapath is based on Network-on-Chip approach and facilitates tight coupling of all functional units. Reconfigurable functional elements can be dynamically allocated for application specific optimizations, enabling polymorphic computing. Using a modified network simulator, performance of several NoC topologies and parameters are investigated with standard benchmark programs, including fine grain and coarse grain computations. Simulation results highlight the flexibility and scalability of the proposed polymorphic NoC processor for a wide range of application domains.

AIM：To investigate the place of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio（NLR） and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio（PLR） in the diagnosis of and prognosis for neovascular age-related macular degeneration（AMD）. METHODS：One hundred AMD patients and 100 healthy controls were included in the study. Blood samples were obtained from the venous blood, which is used for routine analysis, and these samples were subjected to complete blood count. NLR was defined as the neutrophil count divided by the number of lymphocytes, and PLR was defined as the platelet count divided by the number of lymphocytes. RESULTS：No statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups under consideration in terms of demographic features（P〉0.05）. The average NLR in the patient group was found to be significantly higher than that in the healthy control group（P〈0.05）. The average PLR was significantly higher in the patient group as compared to the control group（P〈0.05）. As best corrected visual acuity（BCVA） increased, both NLR and PLR decreased（significant negative correlations at 49.8% and 63.0%, respectively）, whereas as central macular thickness（CMT） increased, both NLR and PLR increased（significant positive correlations at 59.3% and 70.0%, respectively）.CONCLUSION：NLR and PLR levels are higher among neovascular AMD patients as compared to healthy control group. NLR and PLR levels were found to be inversely proportional to BCVA and directly proportional to CMT.

This paper presents the implementation of an embedded automotive system that detects and recognizes traffic signs within a video stream. In addition, it discusses the recent advances in driver assistance technologies and highlights the safety motivations for smart in-car embedded systems. An algorithm is presented that processes RGB image data, extracts relevant pixels, filters the image, labels prospective traffic signs and evaluates them against template traffic sign images. A reconfigurable hardware system is described which uses the Virtex-5 Xilinx FPGA and hardware/software co-design tools in order to create an embedded processor and the necessary hardware IP peripherals. The implementation is shown to have robust performance results, both in terms of timing and accuracy.

Background:Gastric cancer is the 2 nd most common cause of cancer-related deaths,and the morbidity rate after surgery is reported to be as high as 46%.The estimation of possible complications,morbidity,and mortality and the ability to specify patients at high risk have become substantial for an intimate follow-up and for proper management in the intensive care *** study aimed to determine the prognostic value of the preoperative platelet-tolymphocyte ratio(PLR)and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and their relations with clinical outcomes and complications after gastrectomy for gastric ***:This single-center,retrospective cohort study evaluated the data of 292 patients who underwent gastrectomy with curative intent between January 2015 and June 2018 in a tertiary state hospital in Ankara,Turkey.A receiver operating characteristic curve was generated to evaluate the ability of laboratory values to predict clinically relevant postoperative *** area under the curve was computed to compare the predictive power of the NLR and ***,the cutoff points were selected as the stratifying values for the PLR and ***:The area under the curve values of the PLR(0.60,95%CI 0.542–0.657)and NLR(0.556,95%CI 0.497–0.614)were larger than those of the other preoperative laboratory *** the PLR,the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity were 50.00%and 72.22%,respectively,whereas for the NLR,the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity were 37.50%and 80.16%,*** PLR was related to morbidity,whereas the relation of the NLR with mortality was more *** study demonstrated that the PLR and NLR may predict mortality and morbidity via the ClavienDindo classification in gastric cancer *** variable was grade≥3 in the Clavien-Dindo classification,including complications requiring surgical or endoscopic interventions,life-threatening complications,and *** the PLR and NLR differed significantly according to Clavien-D
