Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)and esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma(EGJA)are the two main types of gastrointestinal cancers that pose a huge threat to human *** remains one of the most common malignant diseases around the *** contrast to the decreasing prevalence of ESCC,the incidence of EGJA is rising *** detection represents one of the most promising ways to improve the prognosis and reduce the mortality of these *** approaches for early diagnosis mainly depend on invasive and costly ***-invasive biomarkers are in great need to facilitate earlier detection for better clinical management of ***-associated autoantibodies can be detected at an early stage before manifestations of clinical signs of tumorigenesis,making them promising biomarkers for early detection and monitoring of ESCC and *** this review,we summarize recent insights into the iden-tification and validation of tumor-associated autoantibodies for the early detection of ESCC and EGJA and discuss the challenges remaining for clinical validation.

AIM:To investigate the expression profile of miRNA in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).METHODS:The expression profile of miRNA in ESCC tissues was analyzed by miRNA *** expression levels of miR-143 and miR-145 in 86 ESCC patients were determined by real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR) using TaqMan *** mobility effect was estimated by wound-healing using esophageal carcinoma cells transfected with miRNA expression ***:A set of miRNAs was found to be deregulated in the ESCC tissues,and the expression levels of miR-143 and-145 were significantly decreased in most of the ESCC tissues *** miR-143 and miR-145 expression correlated with tumor invasion *** transfection of human esophageal carcinoma cells with miR-143 and miR-145 expression plasmids resulted in a greater inhibition of cell mobility,however,the protein level of the previously reported target of miR-145,FSCN1,did not show any significant ***:These findings suggest that the deregulation of miRNAs plays an important role in the progression of *** miR-143 and miR-145 might act as anti-oncomirs common to ESCC.

Actin fibers are an important part of the cytoskeleton,providing vital support for the plasma *** function is driven by its ATPase(ATP:adenosine triphosphate)activity,i.e.,ATP+H_(2)O→ADP+*** seemingly simple reaction has attracted much attention because the hydrolysis of ATP provides energy to support life ***,the reaction mechanism of ATP hydrolysis in actin is not *** order to gain deep insights into the functions of actin,it is essential to elucidate the reaction mechanism of the actin ATP *** this paper,we have studied the reaction mechanism of the ATP hydrolysis in actin by the combined quantum mechanical and molecular mechanics(QM/MM)*** results show that 1)bond cleavage of the Pγ—OS of ATP and bond formation between oxygen of the lytic water and Pγatoms take place simultaneously,and this is the rate-limiting step of the hydrolysis;2)the proton on the lytic water transfers to the phosphate to form H_(2)P_(γ)O_(4)−via one bridge *** energy barrier of the complete reaction is 17.6 kcal/mol(1 kcal=4.184 kJ),which is in high agreement with the experimental value.

Dear Editor,Fascin actin-bundling protein 1(Fascin,gene name:FSCN1)is the primary actin-bundling protein that clusters filaments into stable and bundled filopodia[1].In previous studies,elevated levels of Fascin promoted filopodia formation and enhanced the invasive ability of tumor cells,suggesting that Fascin is a target for therapeutic intervention[2,3].Therefore,it is necessary to elucidate the detailed molecular mechanism by which Fascin bundles F-actin filaments.

Phase separation is the basis for the formation of membrane-less organelles in cells and is involved in many biological processes. Many biological macromolecules, such as proteins and nucleic acids, exert their biological functions by forming phase-separated condensates, and phase separation is closely related to various human diseases. Gene transcriptional regulation is an indispensable part of gene expression and normal function in cells. Its abnormal regulation often causes the occurrence of different diseases. In recent years, the occurrence of phase separation during transcriptional regulation has become an area of intense research. This review summarizes the process of phase separation involved in heterochromatin formation and chromatin remodeling, transcriptional regulation and post-transcriptional regulation. It provides a reference for understanding gene regulation during cell identity and disease development.

This study entailed an investigation of the mechanical properties,microstructural and texture orientation evolutions of Cu-Cr-Co-Ti alloys prepared via twostage cryorolling and intermediate aging *** this end,X-ray diffraction and electron backscatter diffraction were *** results indicate that the two-stage cryorolling and intermediate aging treatments led to the development of profuse twin bundles and significantly enhanced the mechanical *** initial cryorolling led to coplanar slip and developed a strong Y({111})orientation,accelerating the formation of Goss({011})orientation and a Brass-type *** intermediate aging treatment relieved the restriction on dislocation slip and reoriented the grains toward the Copper({112})and Z({111})*** Z orientation,with a relatively high volume fraction,dominated the *** cryorolling intensified twinning and shear banding,transforming the Copper-type shear bands into Brass-type shear bands with rhomboidal prism *** areas inside the Brasstype shear bands exhibited a Y orientation,and the areas outside the shear bands exhibited a stable Brass-type *** evident decrease in the weighted Schmid factors demonstrated that the two-stage cryorolling and intermediate aging treatment can modify the texture evolution and aid the design of high-performance Cu alloys.

In this paper, we have introduced the concepts of pseudomonotonicity properties for nonlinear transformations defined on Euclidean Jordan algebras. The implications between this property and other P-properties have been studied. More importantly, we have solved the solvability problem of the nonlinear pseudomonotone complementarity problems over symmetric cones.

Background:Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)is the predominant subtype of esophageal carcinoma in *** study was to develop a staging model to predict outcomes of patients with ***:Using Cox regression analysis,principal component analysis(PCA),partitioning clustering,Kaplan-Meier analysis,receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis,and classification and regression tree(CART)analysis,we mined the Gene Expression Omnibus database to determine the expression profiles of genes in 179 patients with ESCC from GSE63624 and GSE63622 ***:Univariate cox regression analysis of the GSE63624 dataset revealed that 2404 protein-coding genes(PCGs)and 635 long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)were associated with the survival of patients with *** categorized these PCGs and lncRNAs into three principal components(PCs),which were used to cluster the patients into three *** analysis demonstrated that the predictive ability of PCG-lncRNA PCs when applied to new patients was better than that of the tumor-node-metastasis staging(area under ROC curve[AUC]:0.69 vs.0.65,Pents into three different groups,and its effectiveness was validated by analysis of another cohort of 105 ***:The LSB staging model has clinical significance for the prognosis prediction of patients with ESCC and may serve as a three-gene staging microarray.

AIM:To explore the factors influencing individuals’willingness to participate in ophthalmic clinical ***:A questionnaire survey was conducted from January to April 2021 among patients and their family members at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center,Sun Yat-sen University,in Guangzhou,*** survey gathered data on respondents’willingness,demographic and socioeconomic profiles,as well as their reasons and concerns regarding engagement in clinical ***:Of the 1078 residents surveyed(mean age 31.2±13.1y;65.8%females)in Guangzhou,749(69.5%)expressed a willingness to participate in future ophthalmic clinical *** characteristics associated with greater willingness included a younger age,lower annual income,higher education,prior participation experience,previous ophthalmic treatment,and a better understanding of clinical *** the exception of age,these characteristics were significantly linked to a higher *** primary barrier to participation,expressed by 64.8%of those willing and 54.4%of those unwilling,was“Uncertain efficacy”.In terms of motivations,the willing group ranked“Better therapeutic benefits”(35.0%),“Professional monitoring”(34.3%),and“Trust in healthcare professionals”(33.1%)as their top three reasons,whereas the unwilling participants indicated“Full comprehension of the protocol”(46.2%)as the key ***:This study reveals a substantial willingness to participate in ophthalmic clinical trials and demonstrates the predictive role of demographic and socioeconomic *** in motivators and concerns between willing and unwilling participants highlight the significance of tailored recruitment ***,the need for and trust in healthcare professionals stand out as powerful motivations,underscoring the importance of enhancing physician-patient relationships,adopting patient-centered communication approaches,and addressing individualized needs to improve accrual rates.
