The utilisation of oil palm fibre(OPF)and pineapple leaf fibres(PALF)as reinforcement materials for bio-phenolic composites is growing especially in automotive lightweight *** major aim of this current study is to investigate the influence of alkali(Ca(OH)_(2)) treatment on pure and hybrid *** effects of enhancements in chemical interactions were evaluated by the Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectrometer(FTIR).Dynamic mechanical Analysis(DmA)and Thermogravimetric Analysis(TGA)performance of untreated reinforcements(OPF and PALF)and treated(OPF/OPF)composites at varying temperature and noted sufficient interfacial bonding contributing towards the improvements in thermal *** DmA results,the storage modulus improved with treated composites while the damping factor was ***,the treated hybrid composites exhibited significant improvements in thermal stability compared to untreated fibre *** results indicated that alkali calcium hydroxide(Ca(OH2(:T)incorporation in hybrid composites(OPF/PALF)results in increased tensile strength and modulus among all ***,the alkali-treated(Ca(OH)_(2))-treated pure composite(T/50%PALF),and hybrid composites(T/1OPF.1PALF)exhibited better flexural strength as compared with other *** contrast,the T/50%PALF showed higher flexural stress of 78.2 mPa,while the flexural modulus was recorded at 6503 *** can be proposed from the findings of this study that the alkali treatment(5%Ca(OH)_(2))can be utilised to improve the strength and efficiency of agriculture biomass to be used as reinforcements in ***,the hybridisation of bio-fibre composites has the potential as a novel variety of biodegradable and sustainable composites appropriate for several industrial and engineering applications.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: The diagnosis and management

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is now the most frequent chronic liver disease that occurs across all age groups and is recognized to occur in 14%-30% of the general population, representing a serious and growing clinical problem due to the growing prevalence of obesity and overweight. Histologically, it resembles alcoholic liver injury but occurs in patients who deny significant alcohol consumption. NAFLD encompasses a spectrum of conditions, ranging from benign hepatocellular steatosisto inflammatory nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, fibrosis, and cirrhosis. The majority of hepatocellular lipids are stored as triglycerides, but other lipid metabolites, such as free fatty acids, cholesterol, and phospholipids, may also be present and play a role in disease progression. NAFLD is associated with obesity and insulin resistance and is considered the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome, a combination of medical conditions including type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and visceral adiposity. Confirmation of the diagnosis of NAFLD can usually be achieved by imaging studies; however, staging the disease requires a liver biopsy. Current treatment relies on weight loss and exercise, although various insulin-sensitizing agents, antioxidants and medications appear promising. The aim of this review is to highlight the current information regarding epidemiology, diagnosis, and management of NAFLD as well as new information about pathogenesis, diagnosis and management of this disease.

Efficacy of topical dorzolamide 2% in diabetic cystoid macular edema

AIm:To study the effect of topical dorzolamide 2%on macular thickness reduction in diabetic cystoid macular edema(CmE).mETHODS:This was a prospective,non-randomized,open study including eyes with diabetic macular edema(DmE).All eyes received topical dorzolamide 2%three times daily for one *** in best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),and central macular thickness(CmT)by optical coherence tomography were evaluated at 1 wk,1,and 3 mo ***:Ninety-three eyes(84 patients)were ***±SD(log mAR)BCVA improved significantly from 1.08±0.26 pretreatment to 0.66±0.24 at 1 mo and 0.87±0.26 at 3 mo post-treatment(Pmean±SD CmT was significantly reduced from 535.27±97.4μm at baseline to 357.43±125.8μm at 1 mo and 376.23±114.5μm at 3 mo post-treatment(Pmic side effects were ***:Topical dorzolamide 2%results in significant improvement of mean BCVA and reduction of mean CmT at 3 mo *** can be used as an effective,affordable,and safe therapy for treatment of nonrefractory diabetic CmE.

Recently,significant efforts have been exerted to replace mineral oil with environmentally friendly oils due to safety and environmental ***,there is a need to clarify the physical mechanisms behind the ageing impact of these *** authors use advanced optical spectroscopy techniques in correlation with dielectric measurements to understand the ageing processes in environmentally friendly oils as well as mineral ***,different samples of environmentally friendly oils and mineral oil were utilised to investigate the ageing *** samples were subjected to different ageing periods using a thermal accelerated ageing ***,the severity of the produced byproducts due to the oil degradation is examined based on several measured properties representing macroscopic and microscopic *** macroscopic category was evaluated through dielectric properties,including breakdown voltage,dielectric permittivity,and dissipation *** microscopic category,on the other hand,was assessed using techniques such as ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy and photoluminescence *** techniques enabled a deep understanding of the molecular-level changes occurring in the oil under ageing conditions,thereby getting new insights into oil ageing *** is worth mentioning that natural ester oil demonstrated the most favourable performance across various properties under ageing conditions.

Expansion of GARP-Expressing CD4^(+)CD25^(-)FoxP3^(+)T Cells and SATB1Association with Activation and Coagulation in Immune Compromised HIV-1-Infected Individuals in South Africa

Effect of treating chronic hepatitis C with direct-acting antivirals on extrahepatic cutaneous manifestations

modification of Serum Galectin-3 and Reversal of Cardiac Remodeling Following Pediatric Transcatheter Atrial Septal Defect Closure

Objectives:We aimed to evaluate the effect of percutaneous atrial septal defect(ASD)closure in children using right heart indices and serum galectin-3(Gal-3),as potential biomarkers of right heart ***:This case–control prospective study included 40 children with ASD and 25 control *** echocardiographic evaluation was performed before the procedure,as well as 24 h,1 month,and 6 months after *** Gal-3 was measured before,and 1 month after the ***:Serum Gal-3 concentration,right atrial(RA)dimensions,right ventricular(RV)dimensions,indexed RA area,and right index of myocardial performance(RImP)were significantly increased in children with ASD compared with control subjects while tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion(TAPSE)was significantly *** months after closure,RA,and RV dimensions significantly decreased and RVfunction improved(RImP decreased and TAPSE increased).Gal-3 oncentration significantly decreased 1 month after ASD closure,but it did not reach normal range compared with control subjects.A positive correlation between Gal-3 and age at closure,RA area,RV dimensions,and RImP was observed.A positive correlation was observed between the decrease in Gal-3 concentration and the decrease in RA area and RV dimensions 1 month after ASD closure.A significant negative correlation was observed between TAPSE and Gal-3 concentration before and after ***:Percutaneous ASD closure can improve right-sided indices and decrease serum Gal-3 ***-3 can be used as a sensitive biomarker of right heart remodeling,with a decrease in Gal-3 concentration suggesting reversal of maladaptive remodeling.

以氨三乙酸HNTA2-为主要配体,缬氨酸(valine)或亮氨酸(leucine)为次要配体在微酸性介质中合成了Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ),and Zn(Ⅱ)的三元配合物。用元素分析、热分析、FTIR,UV-Vis分光光度法,磁性测量和质谱法表征了合成的三元配合物。结果表明,三元配合物可在金属(m):氨三乙酸(HNTA)∶缬氨酸(valine)或亮氨酸(leucine)=1∶1∶1时制得,其分子结构为[m(HNTA)(valine)(H2O)2].1.5H2O and[m(HNTA)(leucine)(H2O)2].1.5H2O(其中m=Ni(Ⅱ)or Cu(Ⅱ))和H2[Zn(NTA)(valine)(H2O)]H2O。标题三元过渡金属配合物为八面体对称构型。同时研究了该三元配合物对大肠杆菌,金黄色葡萄球菌,白色念珠菌,黄曲霉菌(菌株从开罗大学理学院微分析中心获得)的抗菌活性。根据推荐的知名方法用标准的抗菌和抗真菌剂进行体外测试(in vitro)以评估我们的新制备的配合物对细菌和真菌物种的生长抑制活性。

In Vitro assessment of the nutritive value of expanded soybean meal for dairy cattle

Little information is available about the nutritive value of expanded soybean meal, which is produced by expansion of soybeans prior to solvent extraction of the oil. During processing, expanded soybean meal is subjected to additional heat, which might increase the concentration of ruminally undegraded protein. Processing of soybeans with heat during oil extraction could affect lysine availability by increasing ruminally undegraded protein or by impairing intestinal digestion. Our objective was to compare solvent and expanded soybeans with regard to chemical composition and nutritive value for dairy cattle. Samples of expanded soybean meal （n = 14） and solventextracted soybean meal （n = 5） were obtained from People＇s Republic of China to study effects of the expansion process on nutritive value for dairy cattle. Solvent-extracted soybean meal （n = 2） and mechanically extracted （heated） soybean meal （n = 2） from the United States served as references for comparison. Samples were analyzed for crude fat, long-chain fatty acids, crude protein, amino acids, chemically available lysine, in situ ruminal protein degradation, and in vitro intestinal digestibility. No differences were found between solvent-extracted soybean meals from China and expanded soybean meals from China for crude fat, crude protein, amino acids, or chemically available lysine. In situ disappearance of nitrogen, ruminally undegraded protein content, and in vitro intestinal digestion of the ruminally undegraded protein were generally similar between solvent-extracted soybean meals made in China and expanded soybean meals made in China; variation among soybean meals was small. Results indicate that the additional heat from the expansion process was not great enough to affect the nutritive value of soybean meal protein for ruminants.
