The northeast Brazil (nEB) is known for its temporal and spatial variability of precipitation. Several studies have investigated this variability in order to understand the damaging episodes such as droughts and floods. The phenomenon of drought in the nEB is a complex topic due to affecting?millions of people and being?the object of study in several fields of knowledge. One way to try to argue about this phenomenon is through the concept of vulnerability. The “operability” of this broad concept in natural disasters is a complex task. In order to measure an indicator of vulnerability it is necessary large amount of data from different areas of knowledge, among which?include: meteorology, socio-environmental, economic, public health, among other areas. The main objective of this study is to create an index of vulnerability to climate extremes (drought and flood) for the nEB and to compare this rate with those found in the scientific literature. The data that will be used in this study are from AnA (Agência nacional das águas), IBGE (Instituto Brasileiro de Georgrafia e Estatística), and Ministry of national integration.

The effect of chromium addition on the structure and electrical properties of CaCu3Ti4O12 is *** based on the formula CaCu3Ti4-xCrxO12-σ(x = 0, 0.025, 0.050 and 0.075 mol%) are prepared by solid-state reaction. Pellets sintered at 1070℃ for 12 h are characterised by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive spectroscopy and impedance spectroscopy. Current densityelectric field, dielectric loss and permittivity measurem.nts are also carried out. Rietveld refinem.nt showed the substitution of Cr(Ⅲ) on the Ti(Ⅳ) site, with the maximum substitution for x = 0.025 mol%.The generation of electrical defects in the grain boundary region by chromium doping is responsible for increasing the electric breakdown field strength and nonlinearity coefficient at room temperature from 1723 V/cm and 5.29 for x = 0 mol% to 3431 V/cm and 8.16 for x = 0.025 mol%. This composition shows the greatest improvem.nt in ceramic varistor parameters.

The origin and petrogenesis of the Cameroon Volcanic Line （CVL）, composed of volcanoes that form on both the ocean floor and the continental crust, are difficult to understand because of the diversity, het- erogeneity, and nature of available data. Major and trace elem.nts, and Sr-nd-Pb isotope data of volcanic rocks of the CVL spanning four decades have been compiled to reinterpret their origin and petrogenesis. Volcanic rocks range from nephelinite, basanite and alkali basalts to phonolite, trachyte and rhyolite with the presence of a compositional gap between Si02 58-64 wt.%. Similarities in geochemical characteristics, modeled results for two component mixing, and the existence of mantle xenoliths in most mafic rocks argue against significant crustal contamination. Major and trace elem.nt evidences indicate that the melting of mantle rocks to generate the CVL magma occurred dominantly in the garnet lherzolite stability feld. Melting models suggest small degree （〈3%） partial melting of mantle bearing （6-10%） garnet for Mr. Etinde, the ngaoundere Plateau and the Biu Plateau, and 〈5% of garnet for the oceanic sector of the CVL, Mr. Cameroon, Mt. Bambouto, Mt. Manengouba and the Oku Volcanic Group. The Sr-nd-Pb isotope sys- tematics suggest that mixing in various proportions of Depleted MORB Mantle （DMM） with enriched mantle 1 and 2 （em1 and em2） could account for the complex isotopic characteristics of the CVL lavas. Low Mg number （Mg# - 100 x MgO/（MgO ＋FeO）） and ni, Cr and Co contents of the CVL mafic lavas reveal their crystallization from fractionated melts. The absence of systematic variation in nbJTa and Zr/Hf ratios, and Sr-nd isotope compositions between the mafic and felsic lavas indicates progressive evolution of magmas by fractional crystallization. Trace elem.nt ratios and their plots corroborate mantle het- erogeneity and reveal distinct geochemical signatures for individual the CVL volcanoes.

The Quarter-Horses regularly participate in non-traditional sports that simulate activities on cattle ranches. In the vaquejada races, the horses run at about 30 km/h, reaching maximum heart rates of around 200 bpm, indicating the great physical effort during competitions and with that could impact welfare. To test the hypothesis that vaquejada horses can be evaluated for the quality of welfare through a combination of non-invasive and invasive methods, an experiment was developed that aimed to assess the quality of welfare through thermography and blood biomarkers before and after vaquejada races. Ten vaquejada horses, which were in regular competition, were submitted to the vaquejadas racing test were used. Thermography was performed in 14 regions of interest (head, neck and thorax) in the following phases: pre-race and +1, +4 and +24 hours of the races. Blood samples were collected in pre-race, immediately after and +1, +4 and +24 hours of the races. Results were submitted to AnOVA and Tukey’s test, with p set at 5%. Thermography showed that local temperatures before the race and +24 hours after the races were similar (p > 0.05), as well as between +1 and +4 hours after the races (p > 0.05), which showed higher surface temperatures than the first group (pre-race and +24 hours) (p 0.05) after the exercises. In conclusion, the vaquejada horses evaluated by infrared thermography and blood analyses maintained the quality of well-being, with the physiological elevation of several parameters after the races and recovery in less than 24 hours after the races. Thermographic images were also able to help in the analysis of the regions of interest that have contact with harnesses, dem.nstrating that the use of adequate and correct equipment does not compromise animal welfare.

The objectives of this research work were to evaluate the effect of in vitro gastrointestinal digestion (GIT) on melon peel juice (MPJ) powder from fruit processing industry by-products,considering (i) the recovery and accessibility indexes,(ii) the changes on antioxidant activity,and (iii) the prebiotic *** exposition to GIT conditions a decrease on the total phenolic content (TPC = 65.31%) and antioxidant activity by ABTS = 39.77% and DPPH = 45.91% were ***,these both parameters exhibited stable accessibility,accounting with 81.89%,76.55%,and 54.07% for TPC,ABTS and DPPH,*** gastrointestinal digestion,the non-absorbed fraction exhibited a positive impact on the growth of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus strains,possibly associated with the high content of simple sugar (glucose and fructose).This fraction also showed to be safe on Caco-2 intestinal *** findings suggest that MPJ might be used as a potential food functional ingredient.
