N6-methyladenosine(m6A)is the most abundant modification in eukaryotic messenger RNA.1 This modification is dynamic,reversible,and mediated by proteins characterized as methyltransferases and *** investigations have found that aberrant expression of methyltransferases and demethylases results in m6A dysregulation and,in consequence,affects the biological functions in which this modification is ***,m6A dysregulation affects the development and maintenance of various diseases,including cancer.2 For this reason,we explored the potential role that m6A modification has in invasive breast cancer of no special type(IBC-NST)and its molecular subtypes luminal A,luminal B HER2-,luminal B HER2+,HER2+,and triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)whose degree of global m6A methylation has not yet been studied.

The highly competitive offer of medical training programs and schools,globalization and constant mobility of physicians and medical students(MS),and the commitment to society to deliver competent physicians,demands the definition of performance *** would allow to make their performances comparable no matter where they studied or which textbook did they used as reference,to have evaluation mechanisms that guarantee mastery of the integral evaluation of the *** has been the key in the teaching-learning process as this obtains a formative and summative element,at different moments,from the extent to which the students have acquired knowledge,skills and *** progress of the learner must be enhanced with effective feedback on their performance and self-direction of the results obtained in each of the mechanisms ***,traditionally,this has been considered as the accreditation of compliance with a standard,the evaluation also functions in an integral way as a formative process that identifies advances and deficiencies in the training of residents that allows the definition of actions and strategies for improving the operation of the *** assessment mechanisms are associated with the areas of competence domain,some of the most common tools are:theoretical exams,checklists and rubrics,portfolio,projects and ***,the importance of defining standards which are perceived as fair and designed according to the learning objectives remains a priority to guarantee the credibility of the evaluation agencies and *** strategies to assure credibility include the involvement of expert and trained evaluators,allowing the process to be carried out with transparency and diligence,and the principles employed should be supported by educational research.

We present herein the implementation of pH-responsiveness into a new polycationic macrobicyclic structure,namely what we have termed the“red cage”.The hydrolytically-stable cryptand-like compound has been prepared in a relatively high yield in aqueous media by a kinetically-controlled hydrazone-exchange reaction,promoted by the unusual high stability of the new hydrazone CvN bonds *** organic media the macrobicycle was found not able to complex model aromatic *** buffered aqueous solutions,as a comparison,the“red cage”was found able to recognize them,but the binding was observed to be more efficient in acidic form of the cyclophane compared with its conjugate base.

AIM： To evaluate the effects of indomethacin [dual cyclooxygenase （COX）-I/COX-2 inhibitor] and 3-（3,4-difluorophenyl）-4-（4-（methylsulfonyl） phenyl）- 2-（5H）-furanone （MF-tricyclic）（COX-2 selective inhibi- tor） in a rat experimental model of Barrett＇s esophagus and esophageal ***： A total of 112 surviving post-surgery rats were randomly divided into three groups： the control group （n = 48）, which did not receive any treatment; the indomethacin group （n = 32）, which were given 2 mg/kg per day of the COX-I/COX-2 inhibitor; and the MF-tricyclic group （n = 32）, which received 10 mg/kg per day of the selective COX-2 inhibitor. Randomly se- lected rats were killed either 8 wk or 16 wk after sur- gery. The timing of the deaths was in accordance with a previous study performed in our group. Only rats that were killed at the times designated by the protocol were included in the study. We then assessed the histology and prostaglandin E2 （PGE2） expression levels in the rat esophagi. An additional group of eight animals that did not undergo esophagojejunostomy were included in order to obtain normal esophageal tissue as a control. RESULTS： Compared to a control group with no treat- ment （vehicle-treated rats）, indomethacin treatment was associated with decreases in ulcerated esophageal mucosa （16% vs 35% and 14% vs 17%, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respectively; P = 0.021）, length of intestinal metaplasia in continuity with anastomosis （2 4- 1.17 mm vs 2.29 ＋ 0.75 mm and 1.25 4- 0.42 mm vs 3.5 4- 1.54 mm, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respec- tively; P = 0.007）, presence of intestinal metaplasia beyond anastomosis （20% vs 71.4% and 0% vs 60%, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respectively; P = 0.009）, severity of dysplasia （0% vs 71.4% and 20% vs 85.7% high-grade dysplasia, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, re- spectively; P = 0.002）, and adenocarcinoma incidence （0% vs 57.1% and 0% vs 60%, 2 mo and 4 mo after surgery, respectively; P 〈 0.0001）. BACKGROUND:Since we have previously shown an increase of mast cells in the small bowel and in the mesenteric lymph nodes in the rats with prehepatic portal hypertension,it can be hypothesized that this essential inflammatory cell would be involved in the pathogeny of the splanchnic changes related to portal hypertension. METHODS:To verify this hypothesis,we first studied mast cell infiltration in the ileum and in the mesenteric lymph nodes in sham-operated male Wistar rats(n=12) and in short-term prehepatic portal hypertensive rats (n=12),and the serum levels of rat mast cell protease Ⅱ(RMCP-Ⅱ)by *** a second set of experiments ketotifen,a mast cell stabilizer drug,was administered to sham-operated(n=10)and portal hypertensive(n=12) rats 24 hours before the intervention and prostanoids (PGE2,PGI2,TXB2)and leukotrienes(LTC4,LTB4)were assayed by RIA,mast cell infiltration in the ileum and in the mesenteric lymph nodes and the serum levels of RMCP-Ⅱwere also studied,to show its effectiveness to prevent the mesenteric alterations produced by the inflammatory mediators released by the mast cell. RESULTS:Forty-eight hours after the intervention RMCP-Ⅱ (P<0.05),PGE2(P<0.001)and LTC4 serum levels decreased and mast cell number and RMCP-Ⅱlevels increased in mesenteric lymph nodes in portal hypertensive *** administration of ketotifen reduced portal pressure(P<0.001),serum levels of PGE2(P<0.001)and RMCP-Ⅱ(P<0.001)in mesenteric lymph nodes. CONCLUSIONS:In acute portal hypertension in the rat,the mast cell translocation from intestinal mucosa to mesenteric lymph nodes,where they are activated and degranulates,would represent a defence mechanism to avoid the activation of an acute and massive inflammatory response in this *** administration of ketotifen is able to reduce the splanchnic inflammatory changes related to acute portal hypertension in the rat.

This text sets out the different arguments regarding surrogacy as a reproductive medicine tech-nique in Colombia. The procedure is described, as well as the legal matters that this issue generates. Gestational carriers appear as an alternative for couples who want to have a child but they are not able to conceive because of infertility issues and do not want to go through an adoption process. Therefore, they adhere to surrogacy as an alternative of assisted human reproduction;a procedure that in Colombia faces serious legal gaps and causes ethical dilemmas in the collective imagery. These situations suggest an open discussion through a dialectics between the scientific progress advances, the lack of legal regulation and the constants against ethical positions that the surrogacy procedure causes in Colombia and other parts of the world.
