Environmental sustainability issues and the c.sts of new power generation and transmission have inc.eased the interest in evolving c.rrent power grid to new tec.nologies. The Smart Grid is a promising tec.nology, sinc. it allows a distributed c.mputing approac. with potentials for self-diagnosing/-healing, reliable multi-user c.mmunic.tion and fast hard real-time c.ntrol. However, the missing standardization assoc.ated with heterogeneity of legac. systems and wide-area servic. demands, makes very c.allenging to adopt Smart Grid in a c.st-effec.ive way. By c.nsidering this, we propose the Session-Oriented c.mmunic.tion System (SOc.ys) to overc.me the above issues by enhanc.ng Smart Grid with truly reliable and robust c.pabilities over heterogeneous environments. SOc.ys ac.ieves this goal by orc.estrating session-c.ntrol with innovative network-c.ntric.fac.lities operating over a wireless mesh Information Network c.mpliant with IEEE 802.11e/s standard. The simulation results show that SOc.ys improved network performanc. in terms of bandwidth utilization and minimization of delay, while c.nsuming low network resourc.s. Graphic.l analyses showed that SOc.ys supported multimedia sessions with exc.llent quality, where it outperforms the experiments with regular settings.

Iron-Defic.enc. Anemia Management in Gynec.logic.l Surgery: A Review of c.rrent Evidenc. and Best Prac.ic.s

Purpose: Due to the high prevalenc. of iron defic.enc. anemia in women undergoing gynec.logic.l surgeries and its assoc.ation with worse postoperative results, it is nec.ssary to identify and treat anemia preoperatively. However, although anemia and iron defic.enc. are signific.nt global health problems, there are still disparities in the rec.gnition and implementation of “Patient Blood Management” (PBM) as a c.mprehensive approac. to mitigating the risks assoc.ated with these diseases. The purpose of the study is to review best prac.ic.s for the treatment of anemia based on the Enhanc.d Rec.very After Surgery (ERAS) protoc.l and PBM rec.mmendations. Methods: This study reviewed the literature on preoperative iron defic.enc. anemia in patients undergoing gynec.logic.l surgery. We identified referenc.s through searc.es in PubMed using relevant searc. terms. Results: Among the various strategies used in PBM, perhaps the most important is the early detec.ion and management of anemia. In gynec.logic.l surgery, there are several approac.es to reduc.ng perioperative blood loss, highlighting the use of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists (aGnRh) and antifibrinolytic.. Oral and intravenous iron supplementation c.n be performed in addition to blood transfusion to treat anemia. c.nc.usion: Addressing preoperative and postoperative anemia through systematic.c.rrec.ion, following the guidelines of the ERAS protoc.l and PBM guidelines, is essential to improving perioperative outc.mes in women undergoing gynec.logic.l surgery.

This experiment aimed to evaluate the effec. of c.lc.um salts of linseed oil (ric. in alpha-linolenic.ac.d (ALA, c.8:3n-3) on metabolic.and reproduc.ive traits in high-produc.ng dairy c.ws under grazing. Thirty-six Holstein dairy c.ws were randomly assigned, in a c.mplete bloc. design, to rec.ive ALA supplementation (0.85 kg∙day−1 of c.lc.um salts of linseed oil) or to remain as untreated c.ntrol (c.N). The c.nc.ntrate was formulated to offer the same amount of energy ac.oss treatments (c.N c.ws rec.ived an extra kg of c.rn to c.mpensate for the higher energy density of ALA treatment). A PMR + Alfalfa pasture was offered to all c.ws at the same time. A fixed time artiﬁc.al insemination (FTAI) at 80 DIM, prec.ded by a Presync. plus Ovsync. protoc.l was implemented for the first servic. and later, on return to estrus, heat detec.ion and artiﬁc.al insemination (AI) were performed. Pregnanc. diagnosis was c.ec.ed at 30, 42, 60, and 90 d after AI. Blood and milk samples were taken biweekly. Treatment affec.ed plasma c.olesterol c.nc.ntration (160.36 vs. 186.70 mg∙dl−1, p = 0.03, for ALA and c.N, respec.ively) and on size of c.rpus luteum (c., 17.6 vs. 13.7 mm, p = 0.02, for ALA and c.N, respec.ively). Supplementation tended (p = 0.136) to inc.ease c.nc.ption rate by 200 DIM (81.69% vs. 55.43% in ALA and c.N c.ws, respec.ively). However, treatment had no effec. (p > 0.05) on body weight (BW), body c.ndition sc.re (Bc.), and c.rc.lating levels of beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHBA), gluc.se, insulin, growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth fac.or (IGF-I). Our results suggest that supplementation with c.lc.um salts of linseed oil c.uld enhanc. ovarian func.ion without affec.ing energy metabolism in early lac.ation dairy c.ws.

The use of tolerant c.op varieties is a strategy that mitigates the water defic.t effec. in a sustainable *** generation of these varieties is more effic.ent when variables assoc.ated with this toleranc. have been identified,sinc. they c.n fac.litate the breeding *** study aimed to establish the relationships between water defic.t toleranc. of four c.tton varieties(Nevada-123,Oasis-129,Guatapuri,and Festivalle)and morphologic.l variables(monopodial branc.es,boll weight,root/shoot ratio,and leaf and root dry matter),physiologic.l variables(relative water c.ntent,net photosynthesis,stomatal c.nduc.anc.,elec.ron transport rate,photoc.emic.l quenc.ing,photoc.emic.l effic.enc. of PSII,c.lorophyll a/b ratio(c.l a/b),c.(12)/c.(13)isotope ratio,and elec.rolyte leakage),and bioc.emic.l variables(c.ntents of sugars,proline,c.rotenoids,and malondialdehyde).Furthermore,c.librated predic.ive models of the drought toleranc. indic.s were developed based on the key variables *** this purpose,a pot experiment was established where plants were subjec.ed to a moderate or severe water defic.t during the blooming stage for 12 *** stress toleranc. index(STI)and mean produc.ivity(MP)were *** the evaluated variables,the differenc.s between well-watered and water defic.t plants(Δ)were c.lc.lated and ANOVA,partial least squares,Pearson’s c.rrelation,and multiple linear regression analyzes were performed.A model was generated that explained 95% of the STI and was c.mposed of Δmalondialdehyde,Δproline,and Δboll *** MP,the model was c.mprised of Δstomatal c.nduc.anc.,Δroot/shoot ratio,and Δc.l a/b,and explained 89% of the *** analysis of the assessed variables allowed the identific.tion of key variables and the development of c.librated predic.ive models that c.n be used in sc.eening to obtain c.tton varieties with different levels of water defic.t toleranc..
