Genomic signatures of selection,local adaptation and production type characterisation of east Adriatic sheep breeds

Background The importance of sheep breeding in the Mediterranean part of the eastern Adriatic has a long tradition since its arrival during the Neolithic *** production system is extensive and generally carried out in traditional systems without intensive systematic breeding programmes for high uniform trait production(carcass,wool and milk yield).Therefore,eight indigenous Croatian sheep breeds from eastern Adriatic treated here as metapopulation(eAS),are generally considered as multipurpose breeds(milk,meat and wool),not specialised for a particular type of production,but known for their robustness and resistance to certain environmental *** objective was to identify genomic regions and genes that exhibit patterns of positive selection signatures,decipher their biological and productive functionality,and provide a"genomic"characterization of eAS adaptation and determine its production *** We identified positive selection signatures in eAS using several methods based on reduced local variation,linkage disequilibrium and site frequency spectrum(eROHi,iHS,nSL and CLR).Our analyses identified numerous genomic regions and genes(e.g.,desmosomal cadherin and desmoglein gene families)associated with environmental adaptation and economically important *** candidate genes were related to meat/production and health/immune response traits,while some of the candidate genes discovered were important for domestication and evolutionary processes(e.g.,HOXa gene family and FSIP2).These results were also confirmed by GO and QTL enrichment *** Our results contribute to a better understanding of the unique adaptive genetic architecture of eAS and define its productive type,ultimately providing a new opportunity for future breeding *** the same time,the numerous genes identified will improve our understanding of ruminant(sheep)robustness and resistance in the harsh and specific Mediterranean environment.

Fabrication and characteristics of ZnO thin films deposited by RF sputtering on plastic substrates for flexible display

In three-dimensional computed tomography angiography (3d-CTA) in our facility, we usually scan the volume of the brain according to the bolus tracking method. Fluoroscopic slice is placed at the Willis’s ring and the timing of scan is determined subjectively by a radiological technologist after strong enhancement of the basal cerebral artery is confirmed. In these procedures, however, variation of scan timing is often problematic. Therefore, we design the surpassing method to place the small region-of-interest (ROI) at the basal cerebral arteries and to start CT scan automatically. In this protocol, the fluoroscopic slices of the distal internal carotid arteries are selected referring to the precontrast volume data, small ROIs are set in bilateral internal carotid arteries, and scan trigger of CT is started automatically at the threshold of 170 HU. The maximum 80 mL of iodine contrast agent 300 mgI/mL is injected intravenously at the rate of 4.0 mL/sec, and the volume of the arterial phase is scanned automatically. We measure ROIs at the internal carotid arteries based on the obtained volume data of arterial phase and estimate the optimal scan timings from the fluoroscopic CT images reformatted at the intervals of 0.1 sec. In 38 of 53 patients, placement of the small ROIs is succeeded and automatic or manual CT scan is performed. In the patients who succeed in placement of the small ROIs, optimal scan timing of the arterial phase is obtained, while in the patients who fail placement of the small ROIs, a large variation is observed in their scan timings. Their results suggest that more stable scanning of the arterial phase is available by means of small ROI placement and automatic scanning. The clinical significance is large because the stability and reproducibility of the examination provide a quantitative analysis and more accurate diagnosis.

Continuous regional arterial infusion therapy with gabexate mesilate for severe acute pancreatitis

AIM： To evaluate the efficacy of continuous regional arterial infusion therapy （CRAI） with gabexate mesilate and antibiotics for severe acute pancreatitis （SAP）. MeTHOdS： We conducted a prospective study on patients who developed SAP with or without CRAI. Out of 18 patients fulfilled clinical diagnostic criteria for SAP in Japan, 9 patients underwent CRAI, while 9 patients underwent conventional systemic protease inhibitor and antibiotics therapy （non-CRAI）. CRAI was initiated within 72 h of the onset of pancreatitis. Gabexate mesilate （2400 mg/d） was continuously administered for 3 to 5 d. The clinical outcome including serum inflammation-related parameters were examined. ReSULTS- The duration of abdominal pain in the CRAI group was 1.9 =1：0.26 d, whereas that in the non-CRAI group was 4.3 ±0.50. The duration of SIRS in the CRAI group was 2.2 ± 0.22 d, whereas that in the non- CRAI group was 3.2 ± 0.28. Abdominal pain and SIRS disappeared significantly in a short period of time after the initiation of CRAI using gabexate mesilate. The average length of hospitalization significantly differed between the CRAI and non-CRAI groups, 53.3 ± 7.9 d and 87.4± 13.9 d, respectively. during the first two weeks, levels of serum CRP and the IL6/IL10 ratio in the CRAI group tended to have a rapid decrease compared to those in the non-CRAI group. CONCLUSION： The present results suggest that CRAI using gabexate mesilate was effective against SAP.

Left-turn-across-path-from-opposite-direction(LTAP/Od)conflicts are one of the most common crash types at *** research aims to reveal the general and dynamic information about the conflict for the most relevant street layouts for each conflict configuration of the LTAP/Od accidents involving passenger cars,motorcycles and *** analysis was based on 276 LTAP/Od 157 car-to-motorcycle conflicts and 75 car-to-ebike *** accidents belonging to the three types were observed at the wo accidents collected by the China in-depth accident study(CIdAS 2011-2019).The LTAP/Od accidents include 44 car-to-car *** layout without a green belt separating the oncoming lane and no offset lane between the turning car and the oncoming traffic,the main distance between both vehicles in the beginning of the critical situation being about four metres,occurring in the clear day with no rain and at junctions lighted either because of daylight or based on street *** terms of the turning car initial speed,the range is 15-30 km/h for most car-to-car and car-to-motorcycle accidents,but 30-40 km/h for most car-to-ebike *** for the collision speed,this range is between10 km/h and 20km/h for car-to-car and car-to-ebike accidents and between10 km/h and passenger cars,the maximum longitudinal distance is 60 m for both types of accidents and the maximum lateral distance ranges 25 km/h for car-to-motorcycle *** on the distributions of objective motorcycles’and ebikes'positions in collisions with from -20 m to 20m and from -15 m to 15 m,respectively.

Applications of finite element simulation in orthopedic and trauma surgery

Research in different areas of orthopedic and trauma surgery requires a methodology that allows both a more economic approach and the ability to reproduce different situations in an easy way. Simulation models have been introduced recently in bioengineering and could become an essential tool in the study of any physiological unity, regardless of its complexity. The main problem in modeling with finite elements simulation is to achieve an accurate reproduction of the anatomy and a perfect correlation of the different structures, in any region of the human body. Authors have developed a mixed technique, joining the use of a three-dimensional laser scanner Roland Picza captured together with computed tomography(CT) and 3d CT images, to achieve a perfect reproduction of the anatomy. Finite element(Fe) simulation lets us know the biomechanical changes that take place after hipprostheses or osteosynthesis implantation and biological responses of bone to biomechanical changes. The simulation models are able to predict changes in bone stress distribution around the implant, so allowing preventing future pathologies. The development of a Fe model of lumbar spine is another interesting application of the simulation. The model allows research on the lumbar spine, not only in physiological conditions but also simulating different load conditions, to assess the impact on biomechanics. different degrees of disc degeneration can also be simulated to determine the impact on adjacent anatomical elements. Finally, Fe models may be useful to test different fixation systems, i.e., pedicular screws, interbody devices or rigid fixations compared with the dynamic ones. We have also developed models of lumbar spine and hip joint to predict the occurrence of osteoporotic fractures, based on densitometric determinations and specific biomechanical models, including approaches from damage and fracture mechanics. 1 INTROdUCTION In the design of nuclear power plant facilities in Japan, their behavior in response to severe earthquakes must be accurately estimated. The degree of the basemat uplift can be indicated using a ground contact ratio (77). The analysis model to estimate the seismic response of buildings considering the basemat uplift is shown when μ≥50% in the current design method. However, when μe detailed investigations are required due to the difficulty in estimating the induced vertical motion.

Background/Aim:Prognosis plays a vital role in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC) patient management and decision-making,the identification of prognostic factor BP180 was required in *** and Methods:Protein expression of bullous pemphigoid antigen II(BP180) was verified by immunohistochemistry(IHC) in a tissue microarray study of 202 ***:IHC analysis revealed that protein expression of BP180 among HNSCC patients differed significantly in the presence and absence of neural invasion,and according to T status in laryngeal and pharyngeal cancer subgroups.Οverall survival and multivariate analysis showed that positive BP180-IHC and advanced clinical stage were significant independent positive predictors of mortality in HNSCC *** addition,in the oral cancer subgroup,independent positive predictors were positive BP180-IHC,advanced N status and neural *** laryngeal and pharyngeal cancer subgroups,predictors were positive BP180-IHC and advanced clinical ***:BP180 is a prognostic factor in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
