Chemo-type of essential oil of Ocimum basilicum *** DR Congo and relative in vitro antioxidant potential to the polarity of crude extracts

Objective:To carry out a phyto-chemical characterization of essential oil from Ocimum basilicum L.(***) harvested in DR Congo and to assess the antioxidant potential of crude extracts with respect to the polarity for comparison ***:The phyto-chemical characterization of essential oil produced by hydrodistillation was performed by coupled gas chromatography-mass spectrometer analysis and the antioxidant potential evaluation by in vitro 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl free radical scavenging activity ***:A previously weighed amount of fresh leaves of *** produced 0.65%of essential oil that led to the identification of a set of 84.44%out of 99.98%as major compounds(> 1.5%).The chemo-type of this essential oil was linalool-methyl *** components of oil were characterized by oxygenated aromatic hydrocarbons(46.00%) and oxygenated monoterpenes(26.75%).With respect to the amount of components,methyl chavicol also known as estragole(35.72%) constituted the very large quantity afterward linalool(21.25%) and then epi-α-cadinol(8.02%),α-bergamotene(6.56%),eugenol(4.60%),1,8-cineole(4.04%),germacrene D(2.06%),thymol(1.64%),and(E)-citral(1.55%),*** oil exhibited antioxidant potential and IC_(50) =(1.180 ± 0.015) mg/***-polar crude extracts yields were low compared to the one of polar *** methanol and ethyl acetate had considerably manifested antioxidant potential with IC_(50) values equal to(0.025 ± 0.013) mg/mL and(0.085 ± 0.012) mg/mL,*** concerns to IC50 values,essential oil was less active than methanol and ethyl acetate *** methanol crude extract exhibited the highest ***-polar extracts showed insignificant radical scavenging ability that did not allow assessing IC50 *** results highlighted the occurrence of antioxidant potential compounds in polar ***:Essential oil and crude extracts of *** growing in DR Congo can be advocated as nat

Embeddings of generalised Morrey smoothness spaces

We study embeddings between generalised Triebel-Lizorkin-Morrey spaces εφ,p,qs(Rd) and within the scales of further generalised Morrey smoothness spaces like Nφ,p,qs(Rd),Bp,qs,φ(Rd) and Fp,qs,φ(Rd).The latter have been investigated in a recent paper by the first two authors(2023),while the embeddings of the scale Nφ,p,qs(Rd) were mainly obtained in a paper of the first and last two authors(2022).Now we concentrate on the characterisation of the spaces εφ,p,qs(Rd).Our approach requires a wavelet characterisation of those spaces which we establish for the system of Daubechies’ *** we prove necessary and sufficient conditions for the embedding εφ1,p1,q1s1(Rd)→εφ2,p2,q2s2(Rd).We can also provide some almost final answer to the question when εφ,p,qs(Rd) is embedded into C(Rd),complementing our recent findings in case of Nφ,p,qs(Rd).

Formation of claudin-10 based tight junctions(TJs)is paramount to paracellular Na+transport in multiple *** variants in CLDN10 have been linked to HELIX syndrome,a salt-losing tubulopathy with altered handling of divalent cations accompanied by dysfunctional salivary,sweat,and lacrimal ***,we investigate molecular basis and phenotypic consequences of a newly identified homozygous CLDN10 variant that translates into a single amino acid substitution within the fourth transmembrane helix of *** addition to hypohidrosis(H),electrolyte(E)imbalance with impaired urine concentrating ability,and hypolacrimia(L),phenotypic findings include altered salivary electrolyte composition and amelogenesis imperfecta but neither ichthyosis(I)nor xerostomia(X).Employing cellular TJ reconstitution assays,we demonstrate perturbation of cis-and trans-interactions between mutant claudin-10 *** of reconstituted TJ strands show disturbed continuity and reduced abundance in the mutant ***,both major isoforms,claudin-10a and claudin-10b,are differentially affected with claudin-10b showing more severe molecular ***,expression of the mutant in renal epithelial cells with endogenous TJs results in wild-type-like ion selectivity and conductivity,indicating that aberrant claudin-10 is generally capable of forming functional paracellular ***,mutant proteins prove pathogenic by compromising claudin-10 TJ strand *** ex vivo investigations indicate their insertion into TJs to occur in a tissue-specific manner.

Simulating small-scale climate change effects-lessons from a short-term field manipulation experiment on grassland arthropods

Climate change is expected to cause major consequences on biodiversity. Understanding species-specific reactions, such as species shifts, species declines, and changes in population dynamics is a key issue to quantify large-scale impacts of climate change on biotic communities. As it is often impossible or at least impracticable to conduct large-scale experiments on biotic responses to climate change, studies at a smaller scale may be a useful alternative. In our study, we therefore tested responses of grassland arthropods （carabid beetles, spiders, grasshoppers） to simulated climate change in terms of species activity densities and diversity. We conducted a controlled field experiment by changing water and microclimatic conditions at a small scale （16 m2）. Roof constructions were used to increase drought-like conditions, whereas water supply was enhanced by irrigation. In all, 2 038 carabid beetles （36 species）, 4 893 spiders （65 species）, and 303 Orthoptera （4 species） were caught using pitfall traps from May to August, 2010. During our experiment, we created an artificial small-scale climate change; and statistics revealed that these changes had short-term effects on the total number of individuals and Simpson diversity of the studied arthropod groups. Moreover, our results showed that certain species might react very quickly to climate change in terms of activity densities, which in turn might influence diversity due to shifts in abundance patterns. Finally, we devised methodological improvements that may further enhance the validity of future studies.
