Type 2 diabetes(T2D)mellitus is a common complex disease that currently affects more than 400 million people worldwide and has become a global health ***-throughput sequencing technologies such as whole-genome and whole-exome sequencing approaches have provided numerous new insights into the molecular bases of *** advances in the application of sequencing technologies to T2D research include,but are not limited to:(1)Fine mapping of causal rare and common genetic variants;(2)Identification of confident genelevel associations;(3)Identification of novel candidate genes by specific scoring approaches;(4)Interrogation of disease-relevant genes and pathways by transcriptional profiling and epigenome mapping techniques;and(5)Investigation of microbial community alterations in patients with *** this work we review these advances in application of next-generation sequencing methods for elucidation of T2D pathogenesis,as well as progress and challenges in implementation of this new knowledge about T2D genetics in diagnosis,prevention,and treatment of the disease.

The buried heterointerface of perovskite solar cells(PsCs)suffers from serious nonradiative recombination and ultraviolet(UV)light stress,relentlessly limiting further increase in their power conversion efficiency and operational ***,we develop an emerging strategy of incorporating a thin UV-activated tautomeric transition layer onto underlying charge transport layer and then depositing perovskite layer to construct an efficient hole-selective buried *** is revealed that the UV-activated tautomeric transition interlayer not only improves upper perovskite crystallinity,diminishes thermionic loss for collecting hole and passivates defect site at such buried contact that significantly promote charge transport and suppress nonradiative recombination,but also effectively protects adjacent perovskite from UV degradation through“UV sunscreen”*** a result,we report a remarkably enhanced efficiency of 24.76%compared to 22.02%of the control *** importantly,the achieved high-efficiency PsC features excellent resistance against UV radiation at 365 nm of 100 and 850 mW cm^(−2),which are approximately 21 and 184 times of UV flux(4.6 mW cm^(−2))under AM 1.5G solar *** work provides a promising approach of strengthening buried heterointerface for simultaneous realization of highly efficient and UV robust PsCs.

Operating limits and features of direct air capture on K_(2)CO_(3)/ZrO_(2) composite sorbent

Potassium carbonate-based sorbents are prospective materials for direct air capture(DAC).In the present study,we examined and revealed the influence of the temperature swing adsorption(TsA)cycle conditions on the CO_(2) sorption properties of a novel aerogel-based K_(2)CO_(3)/ZrO_(2) sorbent in a DAC *** was shown that the humidity and temperature drastically affect the sorption dynamic and sorption capacity of the *** a temperature at the sorption stage was 29℃ and a water vapor pressure P_(H2O) in the feed air was 5.2 mbar(1 bar=105 Pa),the composite material demonstrated a stable CO_(2) sorption capacity of 3.4%(mass).An increase in sorption temperature leads to a continuous decrease in the CO_(2) absorption capacity reaching a value of 0.7%(mass)at T=80℃.The material showed the retention of a stable CO_(2) sorption capacity for many cycles at each temperature in the *** PH2O in the inlet air from 5.2 to 6.8 mbar leads to instability of CO_(2) sorption capacity which decreases in the course of 3 consecutive TsA cycles from 1.7%to 0.8%(mass)at T=29℃.A further increase in air humidity only facilitates the deterioration of the CO_(2) sorption capacity of the material.A possible explanation for this phenomenon could be the filling of the porous system of the sorbent with solid reaction products and an aqueous solution of potassium salts,which leads to a significant slowdown in the CO_(2) diffusion in the composite sorbent *** investigate the regeneration step of the TsA cycle in situ,the macro ATRFTIR(attenuated total reflection Fourier-transform infrared)spectroscopic imaging was applied for the first *** was shown that the migration of carbonate-containing species over the surface of sorbent occurs during the thermal regeneration stage of the TsA *** movement of the active component in the porous matrix of the sorbent can affect the sorption characteristics of the composite *** revealed features make it possible

The article considers the long-term(1941-2018)transformation of the Krasnodar valley reservoir,the largest in the North *** main functions of the Krasnodar reservoir are irrigation of rice systems and flood protection of land in the Krasnodar reservoir region and the Republic of *** to topographic maps,Landsat satellite images(1974-2018)and field observations(2016-2018),four stages of transformation of the floodplain reservoir are *** selected stages are characterized by both natural causes(the transformation of the filling deltas into the extended deltas,etc.)and man-made causes(runoff diversions in the delta areas,etc.).The key factor of transformation is the formation of deltas of rivers flowing into the *** of the selected stages,against the background of a gradual reduction in the area and volume of the reservoir,is characterized by the peculiarities of the formation of river deltas with the formation of genetically homogeneous sections of delta *** the period of operation of the reservoir,the delta of the main Kuban River moved up to 32.4 km and took away an area of 35.4 km^(2) of the *** the formation of the deltas of the Kuban and Belaya rivers,a bridge was formed on the Krasnodar *** evolution of the delta regions led to the division of the reservoir into two autonomous *** total area of the delta regions was 85.9 km^(2) by 2018,i.e.,21% of the initial area of the *** transformation of the Krasnodar reservoir leads to a decrease in its regulated volume and gradual degradation.

sinterability of nanopowders of terbia solid solutions with scandia,yttria,and lutetia

The synthesis of nanopowders of terbia compounds with scandia, yttria, and lutetia was carried out using a self-propagating high-temperature synthesis method involving a mixture of nitrates of metals and glycine as a precursor. The nanopowder phase transformations were investigated using X-ray diffraction analysis. It was found that lutetia has a negligible effect on the phase formation in terbia. On the other hand, yttrium and scandium ions significantly suppressed crystallization. The densification kinetics of nanopowders of the Tb_2O_3 compounds and the microstructure of ceramics after microwave sintering were studied using dilatometry and scanning electron microscopy. The introduction of scandia, yttria, or lutetia contributed to the intensification of the densification of the terbia ceramics when heated in a microwave field. Near full-density materials of terbia solid solutions with lutetia and yttria were obtained at about 1600–1640 ℃. The ceramics of scandia–terbia compounds contained the second phase, which causes light scattering.

The development of low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells(LT-sOFCs)is of significant importance for realizing the widespread application of *** has stimulated a substantial materials research effort in developing high oxide-ion conductivity in the electrolyte layer of *** this context,for the first time,a dielectric material,CaCu_(3)Ti_(4)O_(12)(CCTO)is designed for LT-sOFCs electrolyte application in this *** individual CCTO and its heterostructure materials with a p-type Ni_(0.8)Co_(0.15)Al_(0.05)LiO_(2−δ)(NCAL)semiconductor are evaluated as alternative electrolytes in LT-sOFC at 450–550℃.The single cell with the individual CCTO electrolyte exhibits a power output of approximately 263 mW cm^(-2) and an open-circuit voltage(OCV)of 0.95 V at 550℃,while the cell with the CCTO–NCAL heterostructure electrolyte capably delivers an improved power output of approximately 605 mW cm^(-2) along with a higher OCV over 1.0 V,which indicates the introduction of high hole-conducting NCAL into the CCTO could enhance the cell performance rather than inducing any potential short-circuiting *** is found that these promising outcomes are due to the interplay of the dielectric material,its structure,and overall properties that led to improve electrochemical mechanism in CCTO–***,density functional theory calculations provide the detailed information about the electronic and structural properties of the CCTO and NCAL and their heterostructure CCTO–*** study thus provides a new approach for developing new advanced electrolytes for LT-sOFCs.

Real-time decay of fluorinated fullerene molecules on Cu（001） surface controlled by initial coverage

In this study, the evolution of C60F18 molecules on a Cu（001） surface was studied by means of scanning tunneling microscopy and density functional theory calculations. The results showed that fluorinated fuUerenes （tortoise-shaped polar C60F18） decay on Cu（001） surfaces by a step-by-step detachment of F atoms from the C60 cage. The most favorable adsorption configuration was realized when the F atoms of C60F18 pointed towards the Cu surface and six F atoms were detached from it. The results also showed that a further decay of C60F12 molecules strongly depended on the initial C60F18 coverage. The detached F atoms initially formed a two-dimensional （2D） gas phase which then slowly transformed into F-induced surface structures. The degree of contact between the C60F12 molecules and the Cu（001） surface depended on the density of the 2D gas phase. Hence, the life-time of fluorinated fullerenes was determined by the density of the 2D gas phase, which was affected by the formation of new F-induced structures and the decay of C60F12 molecules.
