he bunker industry has faced negative perception to their trust and credibility in recent *** is further compounded by the need for the industry to answer new challenges to meet the requirement of the International Maritime Organization *** aim of this work is to illustrate how blockchain technology may be adopted for aiding in bunker dispute *** demonstrate how blockchain may aid in disputes within the bunker industry,this paper first examines the existing bunker supply process,which involves the formation of contracts under English law,the Bunker Delivery Notes,the different types of disputes that may arise during a bunker transaction and the methods of dispute resolution utilised by the ***,the current literature in relation to blockchain technology and blockchain smart contracts is ***,interviews and surveys within the industry have been conducted to identify the benefits and challenges in adopting blockchain *** research found that blockchains may benefit the bunker supply chain offering the effective resolution of bunker quality ***,blockchains may also serve as a verification tool for electronic bunker delivery notes,which may aid quality and quantity bunker disputes as well as compliance with the new International Maritime Organisation 2020 *** a result,despite the research having shown blockchain to be situationally dependent and having an element of legal uncertainty,blockchain does offer a solution to aid in bunker disputes and for improving the trust and credibility within the bunker industry.

This paper presents a reliability analysis of the pseudo-static seismic bearing capacity of a strip foundation using the limit equilibrium theory. The first-order reliability method(FORM) is employed to calculate the reliability index. The response surface methodology(RSM) is used to assess the Hasofer e Lind reliability index and then it is optimized using a genetic algorithm(GA). The random variables used are the soil shear strength parameters and the seismic coefficients(khand kv). Two assumptions(normal and non-normal distribution) are used for the random variables. The assumption of uncorrelated variables was found to be conservative in comparison to that of negatively correlated soil shear strength parameters. The assumption of non-normal distribution for the random variables can induce a negative effect on the reliability index of the practical range of the seismic bearing capacity.

A probabilistic study of a circular tunnel excavated in a soil mass using the response surface methodology(RSM)is presented.A deterministic model based on two-dimensional numerical simulations in a transversal section is used,and the serviceability limit state(SLS)is considered in the *** model permits the surface settlement curve and the bending moment on the tunnel lining to be *** the soil parameters are considered as random ***ﬁrst-order reliability method(FORM)and the response surface methodology(RSM)are utilized for the assessment of the Hasofer-Lind reliability index(bHL)optimized by the use of a genetic algorithm(GA).Two assumptions(normal and non-normal distribution)were used for the random *** comparison analysis considering a correlation between the friction angle and the cohesion indicates that the results are conservative if a negative correlation among strength parameters is not taken into *** assumption of a non-normal distribution for the random variables has an important effect on the reliability index for the practical range of values of surface settlements.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) represents the fourth cause of death in cancer and has a 5-year survival of < 5%.Only about 15% of the patients present with a resectable PDAC with potential to undergo "curative" *** surgery,local and systemic recurrence,is though very *** median survival of resected patients with adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery is only 20-23 *** underscores the significant need to improve PDAC management *** survival rate is dependent on new breakthroughs in our understanding of not at least tumor *** aim of this review is to update and comment on recent knowledge concerning PDAC biology and new diagnostics and treatment *** fundamental approach to improve survival rates is by earlier and improved diagnosis of the *** recent years,novel blood-based biomarkers have emerged based on genetic,epigenetic and protein changes in PDAC with very promising *** biomarkers to enter clinical practice they need to have been developed using adequate control groups and provide high sensitivity and specificity and by this identify patients at risk already in a pre-symptomatic *** way to improve outcomes,is by employing neoadjuvant treatments thereby increasing the number of resectable *** systemic treatment regimes like FOLFIRINOX and nab-paclitaxel have demonstrated improvements in prolonging survival in advanced cases,but long-term survival is still *** future improved understanding of PDAC biology will inevitably render new treatment options directed against both the cancer cells and the surrounding microenvironment.

Transparency is a widely used but poorly defined term within the explainable artificial intelligence *** is due,in part,to the lack of an agreed definition and the overlap between the connected—sometimes used synonymously—concepts of interpretability and *** assert that transparency is the overarching concept,with the tenets of interpretability,explainability,and predictability *** draw on a portfolio of definitions for each of these distinct concepts to propose a human-swarm-teaming transparency and trust architecture(HST3-Architecture).The architecture reinforces transparency as a key contributor towards situation awareness,and consequently as an enabler for effective trustworthy human-swarm teaming(HST).

In digital soil mapping(DSM),a fundamental assumption is that the spatial variability of the target variable can be explained by the predictors or environmental *** to adequately sample the predictors have been well documented,with the conditioned Latin hypercube sampling(cLHS)algorithm receiving the most attention in the DSM *** advances in sampling design,a critical gap remains in determining the number of samples required for DSM *** propose a simple workflow and function coded in R language to determine the minimum sample size for the cLHS algorithm based on histograms of the predictor variables using the Freedman-Diaconis rule for determining optimal bin *** preprocessing was included to correct for multimodal and non-normally distributed data,as these can affect sample size determination from the *** on a user-selected quantile range(QR)for the sample plan,the densities of the histogram bins at the upper and lower bounds of the QR were used as a scaling factor to determine minimum sample *** technique was applied to a field-scale set of environmental covariates for a well-sampled agricultural study site near Guelph,Ontario,Canada,and tested across a range of *** results showed increasing minimum sample size with an increase in the QR *** sample size increased from 44 to 83 when the QR increased from 50% to 95% and then increased exponentially to 194 for the 99%*** technique provides an estimate of minimum sample size that can be used as an input to the cLHS algorithm.

Previous studies have shown that individuals responded preferentially to the mark of the top-scent donor relative to that of the bottom-scent donor of an over-mark. However, terrestrial mammals are likely to encounter over-marks consisting of the scent marks of more than two same-sex conspecifics in the intersections of runways, near the nests of sexually receptive female conspecifics, and inside and along the borders of the territories of conspecifics. We determined how meadow voles, Microtus pennsylvanicus, respond to the marks of the top-, middle-, and bottom-scent donors of an over-mark. We tested the hypothesis that voles exposed to an over-mark will respond preferentially to the scent marks that were deposited more recently, the scent marks that were on top or near the top of the over-mark, compared to the scent marks that were deposited earlier or near the bot- tom of the over-mark. Voles spent more time investigating the mark of the top-scent donor than that of the either the middle- or bottom-scent donor. However, males but not female voles spent more time investigating the middle-scent mark than the bot- tom-scent mark. We also tested the hypothesis that voles evaluate and respond to over-marks differently from single scent marks. Voles spent more time investigating the marks of the top-, middle-, and bottom-scent donors compared to scent marks that were not part of the over-mark. Voles can distinguish among the overlapping scent marks of three scent donors and sex differences exist in the values they appear to attach to each of these scent marks [Current Zoology 57 （4）： 441-448, 2011 ].
