Transcriptomic and metabolomic insights into the role of the flgK gene in the pathogenicity of Pseudomonas plecoglossicida to orange-spotted grouper(Epinephelus coioides)

Genetic Analysis on Characteristics to Measure Drought Resistance Using Dongxiang Wild Rice(Oryza rufupogon Griff.) and Its Derived Backcross Inbred Lines Population at Seedling Stage

Drought stress is one of the major constraints to rice （Oryza sativa L.） production and yield stability especially in rainfed ecosystems and is getting worse as the climate changes worldwide. Dongxiang wild rice （DXWR） Oryza rufipogon Griff., contains drought resistant gene. Improving drought resistance of cultivars is crucial to increase and stabilize rice grain yield via transferring resistant gene from species related to rice. In this paper, four upland rice, sixty backcross inbred lines （BILs） derived from BC1F5 of R974//DXWR/R974, and their parents were employed to evaluate drought-resistance at seedling stage in the greenhouse. Nine traits were recorded for assessment of drought resistance, including maximum root length （MRL）, number of roots （NR）, shoot length （SL）, dry root weight （DRW）, fresh root weight （FRW）, root relative water content （RRWC）, leaf relative water content （LRWC）, level for rolling leaf （LRL）, and seedling survivability under repeat drought （SSRD）. Using more than 88% of accumulative contribution resulted from the principal component analysis （PCA）, the nine traits were classified into five independent principal components and the line 1949 showed the highest resistance. Analysis on the stepwise regression equation and correlation demonstrated that MRL, RN, FRW, and RRWC significantly influenced the drought resistance, thus could be used as comprehensive index for drought resistance at the seedling stage. Using the major gene plus polygene mixed inheritance model of quantitative traits, the inheritance of drought-resistance of BIL population at seedling stage was mostly controlled by two independent genes plus polygene. As a result, the DXWR could be precious resources for genetic improvement of drought resistance in cultivated rice.

Immune-regulating camouflaged nanoplatforms:A promising strategy to improve cancer nano-immunotherapy

Although nano-immunotherapy has advanced dramatically in recent times,there remain two significant hurdles related to immune systems in cancer treatment,such as(namely)inevitable immune elimination of nanoplat-forms and severely immunosuppressive microenvironment with low immunogenicity,hampering the perfor-mance of *** address these issues,several immune-regulating camouflaged nanocomposites have emerged as prevailing strategies due to their unique characteristics and specific *** this review,we emphasize the composition,performances,and mechanisms of various immune-regulating camouflaged nano-platforms,including polymer-coated,cell membrane-camouflaged,and exosome-based nanoplatforms to evade the immune clearance of nanoplatforms or upregulate the immune function against the ***,we discuss the applications of these immune-regulating camouflaged nanoplatforms in directly boosting cancer immunotherapy and some immunogenic cell death-inducing immunotherapeutic modalities,such as chemo-therapy,photothermal therapy,and reactive oxygen species-mediated immunotherapies,highlighting the cur-rent progress and recent ***,we conclude the article with interesting perspectives,suggesting future tendencies of these innovative camouflaged constructs towards their translation pipeline.

Large-scale nanowires are grown on Si wafers by the catalyst-free one-step thermal reaction method in Ar/H_(2) mixture atmosphere at 1000°*** x−ray diffraction and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy results reveal that the final nanowires are of silicon *** field emission scanning electron microscopy shows that these self-organized Si nanowires(SiNWs)possess curly crowns with diameters varying from 10 to 300 nm and lengths of up to several hundreds of *** transmission electron microscopy indicates that the nanowires are pure Si with amorphous *** the measurement results show that no silicon oxide is generated in our *** growth mechanism is proposed *** oxide is reduced into Si nanoparticles under the Ar/H_(2) mixture,which is the main reason for the formation of such *** experiments offer a method of preparing Si nanostructures by simply reducing silicon oxide at high temperature.

Optimizing water management practice to increase potato yield and water use efficiency in North China

Potato is one of the staple food crops in North ***,potato production in this region is threatened by the low amount and high spatial-temporal variation of *** yield and water use efficiency(WUE)of potato by various water management practices under water resource limitation is of great importance for ensuring food security in ***,the contributions of different water management practices to yield and WUE of potato have been rarely investigated across North China’s potato planting *** on meta-analysis of field experiments from the literature and model simulation,this study quantified the potential yields of potatoes without water and fertilizer limitation,and yield under irrigated and rainfed conditions,and the corresponding WUEs across four potato planting regions including the da Hinggan Mountains(DH),the Foothills of Yanshan hilly(YH),the North foot of the Yinshan Mountains(YM),and the Loess Plateau(LP)in North *** average potential potato tuber dry weight yield by the APSIM-Potato Model was 12.4 t ha^(–1)for the YH region,11.4 t ha^(–1)for the YM region,11.2 t ha^(–1)for the DH region,and 10.7 t ha^(–1)for the LP region,*** rainfed potato tuber dry weight yield accounted for 61,30,28 and 24%of the potential yield in the DH,YH,YM,and LP *** maximum WUE of 2.2 kg m^(–3)in the YH region,2.1 kg m^(–3)in the DH region,1.9 kg m^(–3)in the YM region and 1.9 kg m^(–3)in the LP region was achieved under the potential yield ***-furrow planting could boost yield by 8–49%and WUE by 2–36%while ridge-furrow planting with film mulching could boost yield by 35–89%and WUE by 7–57%across North *** study demonstrates that there is a large potential to increase yield and WUE simultaneously by combining ridge-furrow planting with film mulching and supplemental irrigation in different potato planting regions with limited water resources.

Nonreciprocal Photon Blockade Based on Zeeman Splittings Induced by a Fictitious Magnetic Field

Quantum nonreciprocity, such as nonreciprocal photon blockade, has attracted a great deal of attention due to its unique applications in quantum information processing. Its implementation primarily relies on rotating nonlinear systems, based on the Sagnac effect. Here, we propose an all-optical approach to achieve nonreciprocal photon blockade in an on-chip microring resonator coupled to a V-type Rb atom, which arises from the Zeeman splittings of the atomic hyperfine sublevels induced by the fictitious magnetic field of a circularly polarized control laser. The system manifests single-photon blockade or multi-photon tunneling when driven from opposite directions. This nonreciprocity results from the directional detunings between the countercirculating probe fields and the V-type atom, which does not require the mechanical rotation and facilitates integration. Our work opens up a new route to achieve on-chip integrable quantum nonreciprocity, enabling applications in chiral quantum technologies.

Effect of NS398 on inducing apoptosis and down-regulating Bcl-2 protein in human osteosarcoma cell MG-63 line

Objective： This study investigated the effect of NS398 on anti-proliferation and the mechanism of inducing apoptosis of human osteosarcoma cell MG-63 line in vitro. Methods： Growth suppression was detected by MTT method. Special morphological changes of apoptosis were observed by transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and DNA fragments electrophoresis. The apoptotic rates were quantified by flow cytometry （FCM）. And Bcl-2 protein level were detected by Western Blotting assay. Results： Different concentration NS398 inhibited the cell growth. Through TEM and DNA electrophoresis, the special morphological changes were observed after 24, 48 and 72 h treatment with NS398. The apoptotic rates of MG-63 cells treated with NS398 were respectively, significantly higher than that of the control group（ P 〈0.01 ）. Western blot assay showed that NS398 reduced Bcl-2 protein expression. Conclusion： NS398 suppressed the proliferation of human osteosarcoma cell MG-63 line and induced apoptosis. The mechanism may be associated with down-regulation expression level of bcl-2 protein.

Background:Cryptosporidium *** an important intestinal protozoan causing diarrhea in humans,livestock,and wild *** infection remains a major public health issue,but its epidemiology in humans is still unclear,particularly in rural *** study was designed to determine the prevalence of and risk factors associated with Cryptosporidium infection in a rural southwestern Chinese ***:A community-based cross-sectional survey was conducted among 687 residents of a small town in a Yi autonomous prefecture of southwest China in *** samples were examined using a broad set of quality-controlled diagnostic methods for hepatitis B virus(HBV)and human immunodeficiency virus(HIV).Stool specimens were processed using the modified acid-fast staining method,and microscopically examined for Cryptosporidium *** and multivariable analyses were performed to determine the risk factors associated with Cryptosporidium ***:The majority of the participants were Yi people with poor living conditions and unsatisfactory hygiene habits,and the study area was of very low socioeconomic *** the 615 individuals included in the analysis,14(2.3%)were HIV positive,51(8.3%)were infected with HBV,and 74(12.0%)had Cryptosporidium *** prevalences of HIV/HBV,HIV/Cryptosporidium,and HBV/Cryptosporidium co-infections were 0.3%,0.3%,and 1.8%,*** prevalence of HBV infection was higher in individuals with Cryptosporidium infection(χ^(2)=5.00,P=0.03).Owning livestock or poultry was an important risk factor for Cryptosporidium infection(aOR=2.27,95%CI:1.01-5.08,P<0.05).Cryptosporidium infection was significantly associated with HBV infection(aOR=3.42,95%CI:1.47-7.92,P<0.01),but not with HIV infection(aOR=0.57,95%CI:0.07-4.39,P=0.59).Conclusions:The prevalence of Cryptosporidium infection was high in the rural area of southwestern China that was investigated,and there was a significant association between HB
