Multi-temporal,globally consistent,high-resolution human population datasets provide consistent and comparable population distributions in support of mapping sub-national heterogeneities in health,wealth,and resource access,and monitoring change in these over time.the production of more reliable and spatially detailed population datasets is increasingly necessary due to the importance of improving metrics at sub-national and multitemporal scales.this is in support of measurement and monitoring of UN Sustainable Development Goals and related agendas.In response to these agendas,a method has been developed to assemble and harmonise a unique,open access,archive of geospatial datasets.Datasets are provided as global,annual time series,where pertinent at the timescale of population analyses and where data is available,for use in the construction of population distribution layers.the archive includes sub-national census-based population estimates,matched to a geospatial layer denoting administrative unit boundaries,and a number of co-registered gridded geospatial factors that correlate strongly with population presence and density.Here,we describe these harmonised datasets and their limitations,along with the production workflow.Further,we demonstrate applications of the archive by producing multi-temporal gridded population outputs for Africa and using these to derive health and development metrics.the geospatial archive is available at https://***/10.5258/SOtON/WP00650.

Excitons,bound electron–hole pairs,in two-dimensional hybrid organic inorganic perovskites(2D HOIPs)are capable of forming hybrid light-matter states known as exciton-polaritons(E–Ps)when the excitonic medium is confined in an optical cavity.In the case of 2D HOIPs,they can self-hybridize into E–Ps at specific thicknesses of the HOIP crystals that form a resonant optical cavity with the excitons.However,the fundamental properties of these self-hybridized E–Ps in 2D HOIPs,including their role in ultrafast energy and/or charge transfer at interfaces,remain unclear.Here,we demonstrate that>0.5µm thick 2D HOIP crystals on Au substrates are capable of supporting multiple-orders of self-hybridized E–P modes.these E–Ps have high Q factors(>100)and modulate the optical dispersion for the crystal to enhance sub-gap absorption and emission.through varying excitation energy and ultrafast measurements,we also confirm energy transfer from higher energy E–Ps to lower energy E–Ps.Finally,we also demonstrate that E–Ps are capable of charge transport and transfer at interfaces.Our findings provide new insights into charge and energy transfer in E–Ps opening new opportunities towards their manipulation for polaritonic devices.

Background:Atherosclerosis forms the pathological basis for the development of cardiovascular disease.Since pathological processes initially develop without clinically relevant symptoms,the identification of early markers in the subclinical stage plays an important role for initiating early interventions.there is evidence that regulatory t cells(tregs)are involved in the development of atherosclerosis.therefore,the present study aimed to identify and investigate associations with tregs and their subsets in a cohort of healthy elderly individuals with and without subclinical atherosclerotic plaques(SAP).In addition,various lifestyle and risk factors,such as cardiorespiratory fitness,were investigated as associated signatures.Methods:A cross-sectional study was performed in 79 participants(male:n=50;age=63.6±3.7 years;body mass index=24.9±3.1 kg/m2;mean±SD)who had no previous diagnosis of chronic disease and were not taking medication.Ultrasound of the carotids to identify SAP,cardiovascular function measurement for vascular assessment and a cardiorespiratory fitness test to determine peak oxygen uptake were performed.Additionally,tests were conducted to assess blood lipids and determine glucose levels.Immunophenotyping of tregs and their subtypes(resting(rtregs)and effector/memory(mtregs))was performed by 8-chanel flow cytometry.Participants were categorized according to atherosclerotic plaque status.Linear and logistic regression models were used to analyze associations between parameters.Results:SAP was detected in a total of 29 participants.the participants with plaque were older(64.8±3.6 years vs.62.9±3.5 years)and had higher peripheral systolic blood pressure(133.8±14.7 mmHg vs.125.8±10.9 mmHg).the participants with SAP were characterized by a lower percentage of rtregs(28.8%±10.7%vs.34.6%±10.7%)and a higher percentage of mtregs(40.3%±14.7%vs.30.0%±11.9%).Multiple logistic regression identified age(odds ratio(OR)=1.20(95%confidence interval(95%CI):1.011.42))and mtregs(OR=1.05(95%CI:1.021.10))as independent

Mechanisms regulating neurogenesis involve broad and complex processes that represent intriguing therapeutic targets in the field of regenerative medicine.One influential factor guiding neural stem cell proliferation and cellular differentiation during neurogenesis are epigenetic mechanisms.We present an overview of epigenetic mechanisms including chromatin structure and histone modifications;and discuss novel roles of two histone modifiers,Ezh2 and Suv4-20h1/Suv4-20h2(collectively referred to as Suv4-20h),in neurodevelopment and neurogenesis.this review will focus on broadly reviewing epigenetic regulatory components,the roles of epigenetic components during neurogenesis,and potential applications in regenerative medicine.

Antimicrobial resistance(AMR) poses a critical threat to global health and development, with environmental factors—particularly in urban areas—contributing significantly to the spread of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs). However, most research to date has been conducted at a local level, leaving significant gaps in our understanding of the global status of antibiotic resistance in urban environments. to address this issue, we thoroughly analyzed a total of 86,213 ARGs detected within 4,728 metagenome samples, which were collected by the Meta SUB International Consortium involving diverse urban environments in 60 cities of 27 countries, utilizing a deep-learning based methodology.Our findings demonstrated the strong geographical specificity of urban environmental resistome, and their correlation with various local socioeconomic and medical conditions. We also identified distinctive evolutionary patterns of ARG-related biosynthetic gene clusters(BGCs)across different countries, and discovered that the urban environment represents a rich source of novel antibiotics. Our study provides a comprehensive overview of the global urban environmental resistome, and fills a significant gap in our knowledge of large-scale urban antibiotic resistome analysis.

Assessing the Efficacy of Wheat-Soybean Based Intercropping System at Different Plant Densities in Bambili, Cameroon

Wheat is one of the most important cereals in the world, serving as a staple for millions globally. In the wake of the geopolitical crisis between Russia and Ukraine, it has become incumbent for many countries to invest in wheat production. Improving cropping systems for wheat production is paramount. Intercropping cereals with legumes has tremendous advantages. therefore, this study was designed to optimize wheat production by intercropping it with soybean at different densities. Between March and August 2023, a randomized complete block design trial was conducted in Bambili, North West of Cameroon with treatments t1 (wheat monocrop at 200,000 plants ha−1), t2 (soybean monocrop at 250,000 plants ha−1), t3 (200,000 wheat and 125,000 soybean ha−1), t4 (100,000 wheat and 250,000 soybean ha−1), t5 (200,000 wheat and 250,000 soybean ha−1) and t6 (100,000 wheat and 125,000 soybean ha−1). Results revealed that growth parameters of wheat were not significantly influenced by monocrop or intercrop. the yield of wheat was significantly higher in the monocrop than the intercrop treatments, with slight variation amongst the intercrop treatments. Soybean yield was higher in the monocrop than in the intercrop, with no variations amongst the intercrop treatments. Only the land equivalence ratio (LER) for t5 was greater than 1.0. the competitive ratio for t5 was 0.54 for wheat and 1.90 for soybean, comparatively lower than the other monocrop treatments. Intercropping wheat and soybean at 200,000:250,000 ratio is recommended.

Design to reduce electromagnetic vibration in integral-slot SPM machine considering force modulation effect

In this paper, two different designs, with dummy slots and bread-loaf magnets techniques, are presented to reduce the electromagnetic vibration in integral-slot surface-mounted permanent-magnet(SPM) machines. Firstly, the stator slotting effect on the magnetic field modulation and radial force modulation is investigated. It reveals the amplitude of the modulated magnetic field and modulated radial force is greatly affected by the slot opening effect, while the spatial order is closely associated with the slot numbers. Subsequently, the dummy slots and bread-loaf magnets design are developed for a 36-slot/12-pole integral-slot SPM machine to reduce the electromagnetic vibration. Finally, two SPM machines, with conventional and bread-loaf magnets,are manufactured. Experimental tests are carried out to validate the theoretical analyses.

the natural history,associations with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),and long-term outcomes of large duct primary sclerosing cholangitis(ldPSC)have been well documented.Small duct primary sclerosing cholangitis(sdPSC)is a much less common and relatively more benign variant.the natural history of sdPSC has been difficult to characterize given the limited number of studies in the literature especially with regards to the subset of patients who progress to large duct involvement.It has been unclear whether sdPSC represented a subset of ldPSC,an earlier staging of ldPSC,or a completely separate and distinct entity of its own.Strong associations between sdPSC and IBD have been established with suspicion that concurrent sdPSC-IBD may be a key prognostic factor in determining which patients are at risk of progression to ldPSC.Little is known regarding the discrete circumstances that predisposes some patients with sdPSC to progress to ldPSC.It has been suspected that progression to large biliary duct involvement subjects this subset of patients to potentially developing lifethreatening complications.Here the authors conducted a thorough review of the published sdPSC literature using Pubmed searches and cross-referencing to compile all accessible studies regarding cohorts of sdPSC patients in order better characterize the subset of sdPSC patients who progress to ldPSC and the associated outcomes.

Genetic Algorithm Based 7-Level Step-Up Inverter with Reduced Harmonics and Switching Devices

this paper presents a unique voltage-raising topology for a single-phase seven-level inverter with triple output voltage gain using single input source and two switched capacitors.the output voltage has been boosted up to three times the value of input voltage by conﬁguring the switched capacitors in series and parallel combinations which eliminates the use of additional step-up converters and transformers.the selective harmonic elimination(SHE)approach is used to remove the lower-order harmonics.the optimal switching angles for SHE is determined using the genetic algorithm.these switching angles are com-bined with a level-shifted pulse width modulation(PWM)technique for pulse generation,resulting in reduced total harmonic distortion(tHD).A detailed com-parison has been made against other relevant seven-level inverter topologies in terms of the number of switches,drivers,diodes,capacitors,and boosting facil-ities to emphasize the beneﬁts of the proposed model.the proposed topology is simulated using MAtLAB/SIMULINK and an experimental prototype has been developed to validate the results.the Digital Signal Processing(DSP)tMS320F2812 board is used to generate the switching pulses for the proposed technique and the experimental results concur with the simulated model outputs.
