Background:Schistosomiasis is a chronic parasitic disease caused by blood flukes(trematode worms)of the genus *** transmission has been reported in 78 countries affecting at least 258 million people *** was documented that *** species was prevalent in Shan State,Myanmar,but the serological study was not conducted *** objective of the present study was to detect schistosoma antibodies and explore associated factors among local residents living around Inlay Lake,Nyaung Shwe Township,and Southern Shan State,***:An exploratory and cross-sectional analytic study was conducted among local residents(n=315)in selected rural health center(RHC)areas from December 2012 through June *** participants were interviewed with pretested semi-structured questionnaires and their blood samples(serum)were tested using Schistosomiasis Serology Microwell ELISA test kits(sensitivity 100%and specificity 85%)which detected IgG antibodies but could not distinguish between a new and past *** collected were analysed by SPSS software 16.0 and associations of variables were determined by Chi-squared test with a significant level set at ***:Schistosoma seroprevalence(IgG)in study area was found to be 23.8%(95%CI:18.8-28.8%).The present study is the first and foremost study producing serological evidence of schistosoma infection-one of the neglected tropical diseases-in local people of *** factors significantly associated with seropositivity were being male[OR=2.6(95%CI:1.5-4.49),P<0.001],residence[OR=3.41(95%CI:1.6-7.3),P<0.05 for Khaung Daing *** Chaung]and education levels[OR=4.5(95%CI:1.18-17.16),P<0.05 for illiterate/3Rs level ***/graduate and OR=3.16(95%CI:1.26-7.93),P<0.05 for primary/middle level ***/graduate]all factors classically associated with risk of schistosoma *** of the behavioural factors tested were significantly associated with ***:Schistosoma infection s

Electrowetting on dielectric(EWOD)and dielectrowetting(DEW)are two major principles to drive droplets in digital *** is effective to manipulate(create,transport,split,and merge)conductive droplets being currently used for many biological,chemical,and optical *** can also manipulate droplets but more efficiently with dielectric(nonconductive)fluids.A digital microfluidic platform efficiently operable by both EWOD and DEW would offer higher versatility in handling a wide range of fluids,regardless of their *** this regard,this article presents a new hybrid electrode design enabling EWOD and DEW to drive various kinds of droplet fluids on a single *** addition,a slippery liquid-infused surface(SLIPS)is integrated with the hybrid *** SLIPS is well known to resist biofouling and repel sticky fluids,which endows the hybrid electrodes with much wider application *** a result,the present SLIPS-integrated hybrid electrodes facilitate actuating various kinds of fluids which would not be driven by conventional EWOD and/or DEW *** paper presents the successful transportation of not only conductive fluids including water,protein solution,glycerol,and honey but also nonconductive fluids including dodecane,silicone oil,and light and heavy crude oil,all driven by the SLIPS-integrated hybrid *** performance comparisons among solid,interdigitating,and hybrid electrodes are made by testing both conductive and nonconductive droplets.

Background:Plasmodium vivax is the most geographically widespread species among human malaria *** studies have shown that platelets are an important component of the host innate immune response against malaria *** objectives of this study were to quantify thrombocytopaenia in *** malaria patients and to determine the associated risks of severe thrombocytopaenia in patients with vivax malaria compared to patients with *** *** body:A systematic review and meta-analysis of the available literature on thrombocytopaenia in *** malaria patients was *** studies in health-related electronic databases were identified and *** Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines were ***-eight observational studies(n=29664)were included in the current *** thrombocytopaenia(<50000/mm3)to very severe thrombocytopaenia(<20000/mm3)was observed in 10.1%of patients with *** infection.A meta-analysis of 11 observational studies showed an equal risk of developing severe/very severe thrombocytopaenia between the patients with *** malaria and those with *** malaria(OR:1.98,95%CI:0.92-4.25).This indicates that thrombocytopaenia is as equally a common manifestation in *** and *** malaria *** study showed a higher risk of developing very severe thrombocytopaenia in children with severe *** malaria than with severe *** malaria(OR:2.80,95%CI:1.48-5.29).However,a pooled analysis of two studies showed an equal risk among adult severe cases(OR:1.19,95%CI:0.51-2.77).This indicates that the risk of developing thrombocytopaenia in *** malaria can vary with immune status in both children and *** study reported higher levels of urea and serum bilirubin in patients with *** malaria and severe thrombocytopaenia compared with patients mild thrombocytopaenia or no thrombocytopaenia,(P<0.001 in all compariso

The essential requirement for precise localization of a self-driving car is a lane-level map which includes road markings(RMs).Obviously,we can build the lane-level map by running a mobile mapping system(MMS)which is equipped with a high-end 3D LiDAR and a number of high-cost *** approach,however,is highly expensive and ineffective since a single high-end MMS must visit every place for *** this paper,a lane-level RM mapping system using a monocular camera is *** developed system can be considered as an alternative to expensive high-end *** developed RM map includes the information of road lanes(RLs)and symbolic road markings(SRMs).First,to build a lane-level RM map,the RMs are segmented at pixel level through the deep learning *** network is named *** segmented RMs are then gathered to build a lane-level RM ***,the lane-level map is improved through loop-closure detection and graph *** train the RMNet and build a lane-level RM map,a new dataset named SeRM set is *** set is a large dataset for lane-level RM mapping and it includes a total of 25157 pixel-wise annotated images and 21000 position labeled ***,the proposed lane-level map building method is applied to SeRM set and its validity is demonstrated through experimentation.

The evolution of membrane-type electronics has facilitated the development of stick-and-play systems,which confer diverse electrical functions to various planar or arbitrary curvilinear *** stick-and-play concept is based on the development of thin electronic devices in a printable format and their subsequent transfer to target *** development of this technology requires control of the interfacial adhesion of the electronic prints for retrieval from a carrier and transfer to the target ***,we discuss the transfer printing for membrane-type electronics,starting from an overview of materials available for flexible substrates,transfer printing of electronic prints for retrieval,and assembly for further ***,we explain the stick-and-play concept based on fabricated membrane-type electronics;"stick" and “play"refer to the transfer of electronic devices and the performance of their electronic functions,*** particular,we broadly survey various methods based on micro/nanostructures,including gecko-inspired,interlocking,cephalopod-sucker-inspired,and cilia structures,which can be employed to stick-and-play systems for enhancing interfacial adhesion with complex target surfaces under dynamic and wet ***,we highlight the stick-and-play system application of micro/nanostructures for skin-attachable biomedical electronics,e-textiles,and environmental monitoring electronics.

Spasticity following spinal cord injury（SCI） results in functional deterioration and reduced quality of life. Herein, we report two SCI patients who presented with good response to pulsed radiofrequency（PRF） for the management of spasticity in the lower extremities. Patient 1（a 47-year-old man） had complete thoracic cord injury and showed a phasic spasticity on the extensor of both knees（3–4 beats clonus per every 30 seconds） and tonic spasticity（Modified Ashworth Scale： 3） on both hip adductors. Patient 2（a 64-yearold man） had incomplete cervical cord injury and showed a right ankle clonus（approximately 20 beats） when he walked. After the application of PRF to both L2 and L3 dorsal root ganglion（DRG）（patient 1） and right S1 DRG（patient 2） with 5 Hz and 5 ms pulsed width for 360 seconds at 45 V under the C-arm guide, all spasticity disappeared or was reduced. Moreover, the effects of PRF were sustained for approximately 6 months with no side effects. We believe that PRF treatment can be useful for patients with spasticity after SCI.

Traditional moxibustion therapy can stimulate heat and blood-vessel expansion and advance blood *** the present study,a novel noncontact-type thermal therapeutic system was developed using a near-infrared laser *** device allows direct interaction of infrared laser light with the skin,thereby facilitating a controlled temperature distribution on the skin and the deep tissues below the *** using a tissue-mimicking phantom as a substitute for real skin,the most important optical and thermal parameters are the absorption/attenuation coefficient,thermal conductivity,and specic *** found that these parameters can be manipulated by varying the agar-gel ***,a multilayer tissue-mimicking phantom was fabricated using different agar-gel *** imaging and thermocouples were used to measure the temperature distribution inside the phantom during laser *** temperature increased with the increase in the agar-gel concentration and reached a maximum value under the tissue phantom *** induce a similar thermal effect of moxibustion therapy,controlled laser-irradiation parameters such as output power,wavelength and pulse width were obtained from further analysis of the temperature *** the known optothermal properties of the patient's skin,the temperature distribution inside the tissue was manipulated by optimizing the laser *** study can contribute to patient-specic thermal therapy in clinics.

AI(Artificial Intelligence)workloads are proliferating in modernreal-time *** the tasks of AI workloads fluctuate over time,resourceplanning policies used for traditional fixed real-time tasks should be *** particular,it is difficult to immediately handle changes inreal-time tasks without violating the deadline *** cope with thissituation,this paper analyzes the task situations of AI workloads and findsthe following two ***,resource planning for AI workloadsis a complicated search problem that requires much time for ***,although the task set of an AI workload may change over time,thepossible combinations of the task sets are known in *** on theseobservations,this paper proposes a new resource planning scheme for AIworkloads that supports the re-planning of *** of generatingresource plans on the fly,the proposed scheme pre-determines resourceplans for various combinations of ***,in any case,the workload isimmediately executed according to the resource plan ***,the proposed scheme maintains an optimized CPU(Central Processing Unit)and memory resource plan using genetic algorithms and applies it as soonas the workload *** proposed scheme is implemented in the opensourcesimulator SimRTS for the validation of its *** show that the proposed scheme reduces the energy consumptionof CPU and memory by 45.5%on average without deadline misses.
