A 28-year-old man presented with anemia symptoms and intermittent tarry stool passage for three days. No stigmata of hemorrhage were identified using esophagogastroduodenoscopy, ileocolonoscopy, and contrast-enhanced computed tomography. He then developed massive tarry stool passage with profound hypovolemic shock and hypoxic respiratory failure. Emergent angiography revealed active bleeder, probably from the jejunal branches of the superior mesenteric artery, but embolization was not performed due to possible subsequent extensive bowel ischemia. His airway was secured via endotracheal intubation with ventilator support, and emergent antegrade singleballoon enteroscopy was performed at 8 h after clinical overt bleeding occurrence; the procedure revealed a 2-cm pulsating subepithelial tumor with a protrudingblood plug at the distal jejunum. Laparoscopic segmental resection of the jejunum with end-to-end anastomosis was performed after emergent endoscopic tattooing localization. Pathological examination revealed a vascular malformation in the submucosa with an organizing thrombus. He was uneventfully discharged 5 d later. This case report highlights the benefit of early deep enteroscopy for the treatment of small intestinal bleeding.

The haloalkane dehalogenase LinB from Sphingomonas paucimobills UT26 was found to transform the 1,2,3-trichloropropane（TCP） into inorganic halide ions and 2,3-dichloro-1-propanol although the catalytic activity is very low（Kcat=0.005 s^-1）.In this study,molecular dynamics simulation and docking studies were performed to investigate the binding of TCP to *** docking results indicate that LinB does not restrict TCP to be bound productively in the active site and the water-mediated inhibition occurs in the process of TCP interacting with *** residues Ile134,Leu150,Phe154,Pro208,and Ile211 located on the cap domain are potential targets for mutagenesis researches.

Since its discovery almost 15 years ago, the receptor-interacting protein RIP140has been determined to be a corepressor of various transcription factors and nuclear receptors. Mice lacking the RIP140 gene are lean, exhibit resistance to high-fat diet- induced obesity and have increased glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity. In 2008, RIP140 was determined to be a coactivator of nuclear factor-~cB, a master transcriptional regulator of inflammation in immune cells, including macrophages. This year, it was reported that RIP 140 degradation is involved in the resolution of inflammation and in endotoxin tolerance. The general picture that had emerged indicates that RIP140 is a ]anus metabolic switch that convergently regulates metabolic pathways involved in defense func- tions through its pleotropic interactions with transcription factors.

Experimental Investigation of Aerodynamic Performance due to Blade Tip Clearance in a Gas Turbine Rotor Cascade

This study examines how the complex flow structure within a gas turbine rotor affects aerodynamic loss. An unshrouded linear turbine cascade was built, and velocity and pressure fields were measured using a 5-hole probe. In order to elucidate the effect of tip clearance, the overall aerodynamic loss was evaluated by varying the tip clearance and examining the total pressure field for each case. The tip clearance was varied from 0% to 4.2% of blade span and the chord length based Reynolds number was fixed at 2×10^(5). For the case without tip clearance, a wake downstream of the blade trailing edge is observed, along with hub and tip passage vortices. These flow structures result in profile loss at the center of the blade span, and passage vortex related losses towards the hub and tip. As the tip clearance increases, a tip leakage vortex is formed, and it becomes stronger and eventually alters the tip passage vortex. Because of the interference of the secondary tip leakage flow with the main flow, the streamwise velocity decreases while the total pressure loss increases significantly by tenfold in the last 30% blade span region towards the tip for the 4.2% tip clearance case. It was additionally observed that the overall aerodynamic loss increases linearly with tip clearance.

Based on graphene, a new class of second-order nonlinear optical（NLO） material, the lithium salt of NH2-substituted graphene nanoribbon with the twofold donor（D）/acceptor（A） mode, was reported. Eight stable 2Li-2NH2-GNR lithium salts, especially cis lithium salts, display considerably large β0 values. The combination of NH2-substituting and cis Li-doping makes β0 greatly increased from 0（GNR） to 1.2×105―2.9×105 a.u.（cis-2Li- 2NH2-GNRs）. Our largest β0 value（2.9×105 a.u.） for cis-2Li-1,3-2NH2-AGNR is comparable to the record value of 1.7×105 a.u. for a long donor-acceptor polyene.

Discovery of Middle Jurassic palaeontinids from Inner Mongolia, China (Homoptera: Palaeontinidae)

A new genus and three new species of fossil Palaeontinidae, Papilioncossus conchatus sp. nov., P. giganteus sp. nov. and P. pteroideus sp. nov., are described. All of them were collected from Middle Jurassic Jiulongshan Formation in Inner Mongolia, China. Based on distal part of forewing broader and longer than basal and Sc usually with branches, the new taxa are attributed to Palaeontinidae of Homoptera and compared with genus Pseudocossus. A key to species of Papilioncossus gen. nov. is provided. All type specimens are deposited in the Capital Normal University.
