Two-dimensional semiconductors,such as MoS2 are known to be highly susceptible to diverse molecular adsorbates on the surface during fabrication,which could adversely affect device *** ensure high device yield,uniformity and performance,the semiconductor industry has long employed wet chemical cleaning strategies to remove undesirable surface contaminations,adsorbates,and native oxides from the surface of Si wafers.A similarly effective surface cleaning technique for two-dimensional materials has not yet been fully *** this study,we propose a wet chemical cleaning strategy for MoS2 by using *** cleaning process not only preserves the intrinsic properties of monolayer MoS2,but also significantly improves the performance of monolayer MoS2 *** device on current of 12 μA·μm-1 for a channel length of 400 nm,contact resistance of 15 kΩ·μm,field-effect mobility of 15.5 cm^2·V^-1·s^-1,and the average on-off current ratio of 10^8 were successfully demonstrated.

Anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of hydrogenrich water alleviate ethanol-induced fatty liver in mice

AIM To investigate the effects of hydrogen-rich water(HRW) treatment on prevention of ethanol(Et OH)-induced early fatty liver in *** In vitro reduction of hydrogen peroxide by HRW was determined with a chemiluminescence system. Female mice were randomly divided into five groups: control,Et OH,Et OH + silymarin,Et OH + HRW and Et OH + silymarin + HRW. Each group was fed a Lieber-De Carli liquid diet containing Et OH or isocaloric maltose dextrin(control diet). Silymarin was used as a positive control to compare HRW efficacy against chronic Et OH-induced hepatotoxicity. HRW was freshly prepared and given at a dosage of 1.2 m L/mouse trice daily. Blood and liver tissue were collected after chronic-binge liquid-diet feeding for 12 *** The in vitro study showed that HRW directly scavenged hydrogen peroxide. The in vivo study showed that HRW increased expression of acyl ghrelin,which was correlated with food intake. HRW treatment significantly reduced Et OH-induced increases in serum alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase,triglycerol and total cholesterol levels,hepatic lipid accumulation and inflammatory cytokines,including tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α) and interleukin(IL)-6. HRW attenuated malondialdehyde level,restored glutathione depletion and increased superoxide dismutase,glutathione peroxidase and catalase activities in the liver. Moreover,HRW reduced TNF-α and IL-6 levels but increased IL-10 and IL-22 *** HRW protects against chronic Et OH-induced liver injury,possibly by inducing acyl ghrelin to suppress the pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α and IL-6 and induce IL-10 and IL-22,thus activating antioxidant enzymes against oxidative stress.

Cognitive impairment and its association with circulating biomarkers in patients with acute decompensated heart failure

BACKGROUND Cognitive impairment(CI)is common in patients with heart failure(HF),but the association between CI and biomarkers related to HF or cognitive decline in patients with HF remains *** This prospective observational study investigated the incidence of CI,subsequent cognitive changes,and the asso-ciation between CI and novel biomarkers in patients with left ventricular ejection fraction1621.1 pg/mL was significantly associated with CI(area under the curve=0.64;P=0.003).An increase in GDF-15 per 1000 units was associated with an increased risk of the primary endpoint(hazard ratio=1.42;95%confidence interval:1.17-1.73;P<0.001).CONCLUSIONS In patients with HF with CI,cognitive function,depression,and quality of life measures improved at the 3-month and 1-year ***-15 predicted CI with moderate discrimination capacity and was associated with worse HF out-comes.

An artificial intelligence technique of back-propagation neural networks is used to assess the slope ***-site slope failure data from the South Cross-Island Highway in southern Taiwan are used to test the performance of the neural network *** numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of artificial neural networks in the evaluation of slope failure potential based on five major factors,such as the slope gradient angle,the slope height,the cumulative precipitation,daily rainfall and strength of materials.

Human Action Recognition Based on Dense Trajectories Analysis and Random Forest

This paper presents a human action recognition method. It analyzes the spatio-temporal grids along the dense trajectories and generates the histogram of oriented gradients （HOG） and histogram of optical flow （HOF） to describe the appearance and motion of the human object. Then, HOG combined with HOF is converted to bag-of-words （BoWs） by the vocabulary tree. Finally, it applies random forest to recognize the type of human action. In the experiments, KTH database and URADL database are tested for the performance evaluation. Comparing with the other approaches, we show that our approach has a better performance for the action videos with high inter-class and low inter-class variabilities.

BACKGROUND Cockayne syndrome(CS)is a rare inherited disease characterized by progressive motor symptoms including muscle weakness,joint contracture,ataxia,and *** neurotoxin type A has been used for conditions such as dystonia and spasticity,but it has rarely been used in patients with *** SUMMARY We report a 6-year-and-9-mo old girl diagnosed with CS who received an injection of botulinum neurotoxin type A to manage her difficulty with walking.A total dose of 210 units of botulinum neurotoxin type A was administered into the bilateral tibialis posterior and gastrocnemius *** evaluate the treatment effects on spasticity,joint contracture,pain,and ataxia,measurement tools including the Modified Ashworth Scale,the passive range of motion,the Faces Pain Scale-Revised,and the Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia,were *** first week after the injection,the Modified Ashworth Scale score for the plantar flexors and foot invertors improved bilaterally,along with advancements in the passive range of motion of the bilateral ankles and a lower score for the Faces Pain *** treatment effects persisted to the 8th week post-injection,but returned to baseline values at the 12th week post-injection,except for the pain *** Botulinum toxin injection can thus be considered as a treatment option for lower extremity spasticity,joint contracture,and pain derived from CS.

Tensile and compressive behavior of Ti-based bulk metallic glass composites

This article focuses on the tensile and compressive characteristics of a Ti-based bulk metallic glass composite （BMGC）. It is found that the yield stress, maximum strength, and fracture strain are 1380 MPa, 1516 MPa, and 4.3% for uniaxial tension, but 1580 MPa, 4010 MPa, and 29% for uniaxial compression, respectively. The composite displays a linear ＂work hardening＂ capacity under compression; however, the ＂work softening＂ behavior is observed in the true engineering stress-strain curve upon tensile loading. The fracture surfaces of specimens also exhibit dissimilar properties under the different loadings.

γ-TiAl alloys,including two categories（the conventional TiAl and the high Nb-containing TiAl（high Nb-TiAl））,are technologically intriguing because of their applications at high ***,the service temperature of the high Nb-TiAl alloys is 60-100℃higher than that of conventional TiAl *** developed TiAl alloys,for example TNB,TNM,β-γ alloys,belong to the high Nb-TiAl alloys,displaying similar behavior in phase transformation,strengthening,oxidation at high temperatures,and relationships between composition,microstructure,and mechanical *** work presents an in-depth review of the high Nb-TiAl alloys regarding the advances in phase diagram,formation mechanism of the new γ_1 phase,microsegregation induced by adding a high content of alloying element Nb,and the mechanism of the B2/ω phase *** challenges in developing the high Nb-TiAl alloys are also discussed.

Microstructure and microsegregation of directionally solidified Ti–45Al–8Nb alloy with different solidification rates

Microstructure and microsegregation of directionally solidified Ti-45Al-8Nb alloy were investigated by scanning electron microscopy（SEM）,transmission electron microscopy（TEM） and electron probe microanalyzer（EPMA）.For the alloy solidified at the solidification rates（v） ranging from 10 to 400 μm·s^（-1）,the microstructure of the mushy zone exhibits a cellular-dendritic structure at lower growth rate（v=10-50 μm·s^（-1）） and a typical dendritic morphology at higher growth rate（v = 100-400 μm·s^（-1））.The relationship between primary dendrite arm spacing（λ_1）and v is λ_1=1.08×10~3v^（-0.35）.Al and Nb elements segregate at interdendritic zone and in the dendritic core,*** solid of mushy zone,a relatively flat concentration profile is observed for the typical dendrite structure,and Nb enriches in B2 phase induced by β→α＋β*** content of B2 phase is hardly affected by *** extent of microsegregation in steady-state zone decreases at a lower growth rate because holding the samples at higher temperature after solidification for a long time can homogenize the solid effectively.
