Background:Hemodialysis(HD) per se is a risk factor for *** the growing body of evidence on blood-flow restriction(BFR) exercise in HD patients,identification of possible risk factors related to the prothrombotic agent D-dimer is required for the safety and feasibility of this training *** aim of the present study was to identify risk factors associated with higher D-dimer levels and to determine the acute effect of resistance exercise(RE) with BFR on this ***:Two hundred and six HD patients volunteered for this study(all with a glomerular filtration rate of 70 years old),and HD ***,RE+BFR significantly increases D-dimer after 4 *** with borderline baseline D-dimer levels(400-490 ng/mL) displayed increased risk of elevating D-dimer over the normal range(≥500 ng/mL).Conclusion:These results identified factors associated with a heightened prothrombotic state and may assist in the screening process for HD patients who wish to undergo RE+BFR.D-dimer and/or other fibrinolysis factors should be assessed at baseline and throughout the protocol as a precautionary measure to maximize safety during RE+BFR.

Dear editor:We sincerely thank Matthew *** for his insightful commentary1 on our recent publication in the Journal of Sport and Health Science.2 Clarkson's pioneering work in the development and application of blood flow restriction (BFR) exercise protocols has undeniably laid the groundwork for subsequent investigations in this field,including our own.(3-6)His commentary not only highlights the relevance and timeliness of our study but also offers valuable perspectives on refining safety considerations for intradialytic BFR exercise among hemodialysis patients.

Hepatocrinology explores the intricate relationship between liver function and the endocrine *** liver diseases such as liver cirrhosis can cause endocrine disorders due to toxin accumulation and protein synthesis *** its importance,assessing endocrine issues in cirrhotic patients is frequently *** article provides a comprehensive review of the epidemiology,pathophysiology,diagnosis,and treatment of endocrine disturbances in liver *** review was conducted using the PubMed/Medline,EMBASE,and Scielo databases,encompassing 172 *** cirrhosis is associated with endocrine disturbances,including diabetes,hypoglycemia,sarcopenia,thyroid dysfunction,hypogonadotropic hypogonadism,bone disease,adrenal insufficiency,growth hormone dysfunction,and secondary *** optimal tools for diagnosing diabetes and detecting hypoglycemia are the oral glucose tolerance test and continuous glucose monitoring system,*** can be assessed through imaging and functional tests,while other endocrine disorders are evaluated using hormonal assays and imaging *** options include metformin,glucagon-like peptide-1 analogs,sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors,and insulin,which are effective and safe for diabetes *** standards are followed for managing hypoglycemia,and hormone replacement therapy is often necessary for other endocrine *** transplantation can address some of these problems.

Biofimls Formation in Nanofiltration Membranes

Technological advances in the past 30 years have boosted the use of PSM (membrane separation processes), important for its efficiency and flexibility of operation. These processes can be used in many types of separation, with some advantages over the usual separation processes. NF (nanofiltration) is a membrane separation technique, which has properties intermediate between reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration in terms of separated species, because the average of the pores is in the range of ? to 10 nm, and the separation occurs in function of load and size of the species. Usually removes species in solution with an effective diameter of about 1 nm or larger and multivalent ions to a greater extent than monovalent ions. The objective was to study the formation of biofouling on the surface of commercial nanofiltration membrane (Osmonics/GE) and surface membrane synthesized in our laboratory. The study was conducted in permeation system with filtration cell with tangential displacement of 15 bar for 8 days flow. DBNPA (2,2-dibromo-3-nitrilopropionamide) was used as a biocide agent, and an anti-fouling, in concentrations of 5 and 300 ppm, respectively, added to the water coming from the Beach Sea Galleon, RJ. The results demonstrated that there was no change in the flow and rejection of sulphate ions, even in the presence of anti-fouling. The count of aerobic, anaerobic and BRS (sulfate reducing bacteria) in seawater before and after using the DBNPA showed efficiency in controlling these groups of microorganisms and biofouling microbial consortium consisting of the existing in seawater.
