Objective:To evaluate 11 Cuban native Bacillus(B.)thuringiensis isolates in order to select one with the best larvicidal activity against Aedes(Ae.)aegypti and low ***:The cry and cyt genes of the isolates(A21,A51,L95,L910,M29,R84,R85,R87,R89,U81 and X48)were amplified by *** influence of organic matter and NaCl on the larvicidal activity was tested by *** was assayed on peritoneal macrophages of BALB/c ***:The cyt1(Aa,Ab,Ba),cyt2,cry4aA,cry4Ba,cry11(Aa,Ba,Bb)and cry10 genes were identified in all native Cuban *** larvicidal activity(LC_(90))of seven isolates was affected by the presence of organic matter in the water,while A21,A51,L910,R84,U81 and X48 had better LC_(50),LC_(90),LC_(95) than the 266/29-Ⅶ-98 control *** LC_(50) of two isolates was affected by the presence of NaCl and A21,A51,R85 isolate had better larvicidal activity than the 266/29-Ⅶ-98 control *** terms of toxicity against macrophages,the extracts of nine isolates were less cytotoxic than the control ***:Native isolate A21 had the main virulence factors against *** larvae,displayed a good larvicidal activity in presence of different factors related with *** breeding sites,and had low citotoxicity against *** results can contribute to the improvement of existing biological control strategies and the development of new biolarvicides.

Purpose:This meta-analytical study aimed to explore the effects of resistance training(RT) volume on body adiposity,metabolic risk,and inflammation in postmenopausal and older ***:A systematic search was performed for randomized controlled trials in PubMed,Scopus,Web of Science,and *** controlled trials with postmenopausal and older females that compared RT effects on body adiposity,metabolic risk,and inflammation with a control group(CG) were *** reviewers selected the studies,extracted the data,and performed the risk of bias and certainty of the evidence(Grading of Recommendations,Assessment,Development,and evaluation(GRADe)) *** body and abdominal adiposity,blood lipids,glucose,and C-reactive protein were included for meta-analysis.A random-effects model,standardized mean difference(Hedges’ g),and 95% confidence interval(95%CI) were used for ***:Twenty randomized controlled trials(overall risk of bias:some concerns;GRADe:low to very low) with overweight/obese postmenopausal and older females were *** groups were divided into low-volume RT(LVRT,~44 sets/week) and high-volume RT(HVRT,~77 sets/week).Both RT groups presented improved body adiposity,metabolic risk,and inflammation when compared to ***,HVRT demonstrated higher effect sizes than LVRT for glucose(HVRT=-1.19;95%CI:-1.63 to-0.74;LVRT=-0.78;95%CI:-1.15 to-0.41) and C-reactive protein(HVRT=-1.00;95%CI:-1.32 to-0.67;LVRT=-0.34;95%CI,-0.63 to-0.04)) when compared to ***:Compared to CG,HVRT protocols elicit greater improvements in metabolic risk and inflammation outcomes than LVRT in overweight/obese postmenopausal and older females.

Unraveling the factors that determine variation of diversity in tropical mountain systems is a topic for debate in plant *** is especially true in areas where topography is complex due to volcano elevational gradients and where forests are vulnerable to human *** this study we used a set of climatic(temperature,rainfall,and radiation solar),topographic(elevation,slope aspect,and slope orientation)and human disturbance variables to determine their effect on diversity and composition patterns of a tree community,considering three slope aspects of a tropical volcano in southeastern *** sampled trees in seventy 0.1-ha plots distributed on three slope aspects of the Tacanávolcano along an elevational gradient of 1500 to 2500 *** determined diversity patterns(general tree richness,exponential of Shannon index,and pioneer species richness)with linear regression models,and for beta diversity,we used a dissimilarity index(within and between elevational bands 100 m wide).The effect of a set of environmental and human disturbance variables on tree diversity and community composition was analyzed with general linear models and multivariate analyses,*** registered 2,949 individual trees belonging to 176 species and *** average species richness and alpha diversity per plot were 13(standard deviation±6)and 9(±5),*** tree richness and alpha diversity increased in the middle part(unimodal patterns)of the elevational gradient,but pioneer species richness decreased linearly with *** variance explained by general linear models was greater in richness(32%)than in alpha diversity(25.3%).The most important predictor variables were temperature(elevational gradient),which explained the unimodal pattern(richness and alpha diversity increase at intermediate levels of temperature),and slope orientation,which explained the increase in richness and alpha diversity toward the geographic *** temperature had a signific

Multi-conductor Line Models for Harmonic Load-flow Calculations in LV Networks with High Penetration of PV Generation

Low-voltage(LV) distribution networks are unbalanced and present loads with nonlinear behavior, which introduce harmonics in the networks. The predictable increase in photovoltaic microgeneration(PV μG) accentuates this unbalanced characteristic, as well as poses new technical problems,namely voltage rise and reverse power flow. To accurately account for the distributed PV and loads in the LV network, unbalanced three-phase power flow algorithms should be utilized,where different approaches may be used to represent lines with various degrees of accuracy. The more accurate algorithm considers the electromagnetic coupling between the line conductors,whereas the simpler algorithm represents each conductor of the line as a single-phase line with pure resistive behavior. This paper aims to analyze the influence of the line model on the load flow in a highly unbalanced LV network with a high penetration of PV production, and considers the impact of the harmonics produced by nonlinear loads. Based on the results obtained,it is possible to identify the most suitable model to be used, depending on the study to be performed. Different scenarios of PV generation and loads are addressed in this paper.

Optimal Coordinated Operation of Distributed Static Series Compensators for Wide-area Network Congestion Relief

Relieving network congestions is a critical goal for the safe and flexible operation of modern power systems, especially in the presence of intermittent renewables or distributed generation. This paper deals with the real-time coordinated operation of distributed static series compensators(DSSCs) to remove network congestions by suitable modifications of the branch reactance. Several objective functions are considered and discussed to minimize the number of the devices involved in the control actions, the total losses or the total reactive power exchanged, leading to a non-convex mixed-integer non-linear programming problem. Then, a heuristic methodology combining the solution of a regular NLP with k-means clustering algorithm is proposed to get rid of the binary variables, in an attempt to reduce the computational cost. The proposed coordinated operation strategy of the DSSCs is tested on several benchmark systems, providing feasible and sufficiently optimal solutions in a reasonable time frame for practical systems.

Influence of local and landscape environmental factors on alpha and beta diversity of macroinvertebrates in Andean rivers

Research on macroinvertebrate community structure in Andean rivers has been oriented towards describing patterns of alpha and gamma diversity by taking into account environmental predictors at local spatial scales(e.g.,micro-and mesohabitats).However,the patterns of beta diversity and the importance of landscape-scale variables have been evaluated to a lesser *** objective of this study was to describe the patterns of alpha and beta diversity of benthic macroinvertebrates in the Andean rivers of the Orinoco basin and their relationship with local and landscape environmental variation.A stratified random sampling of macroinvertebrates was carried out at 40 sites(comprising an altitudinal range of between 500 and 2900 m.a.s.l.),local and landscape variables were *** results showed that the variation of alpha diversity was influenced by local and landscape variables,which are directly and indirectly related to the contribution of sediments,substrate composition and flow velocity,providing a heterogeneity of *** beta diversity was explained by the combined effect of local and landscape *** the beta diversity phenomena,turnover was predominant while nestedness presented a minor contribution and both were explained in greater proportion by local descriptors and some landscape variables,specifically those of a geomorphological *** results concur with the view of an environmental and spatial hierarchy within the river habitat and highlight the influence of multiple scales on macroinvertebrate *** above suggests that both local and landscape scales must necessarily be considered for environmental management and the conservation of Andean lotic ecosystems.

Road accidents are one of the most relevant causes of injuries and death worldwide,and therefore,they constitute a significant field of research on the use of advanced algorithms and techniques to analyze and predict traffic accidents and determine the most relevant elements that contribute to road *** research of road accident prediction aims to respond to the challenge of offer tools to generate a more secure mobility environment,and ultimately,save *** paper aims to provide an overview of the state of the art in the prediction of road accidents through machine learning algorithms and advanced techniques for analyzing information,such as convolutional neural networks and long short-term memory networks,among other deep learning ***,in this article,a compendium and study of the most used data sources for the road accident forecast is *** a classification is proposed according to its origin and characteristics,such as open data,measurement technologies,onboard equipment and social media *** the analysis of the information,the different algorithms employed to make predictions about road accidents are listed and compared,as well as their applicability depending on the types of data being analyzed,along with the results obtained and their ease of interpretation and *** best results reported by the authors are obtained when two or more analytic techniques are combined,in such a way that analysis of the obtained results is *** the future challenges in road traffic forecasting lies the enhancement of the scope of the proposed models and predictions by the incorporation of heterogeneous data sources,that include geo spatial data,information from traffic volume,traffic statistics,video,sound,text and sentiment from social media,that many authors concur that can improve the precision and accuracy of the analysis and predictions.

Photonic technology combined with artificial intelligence plays a key role in the development of the latest smart system trends,integrating cutting-edge technology with machine learning *** paper proposes a transmission-reflection analysis based system using dielectric nanoparticle-doped fiber combined with artificial intelligence to address one of the major problems in the distributed sensing approach:reducing the cost while maintaining high spatial resolution to close the gap between distributed sensors and the general *** learning-based models are designed to classify the perturbed positions when the same force is used and force regression when different forces are applied on each *** results show an accuracy of 99.43%in the position classification of multiple disturbances and an rms error of 1.53 N in the force regression,which represents 5%of the force *** addition,a smart environment using the current system is proposed,which presented 100%accuracy in identifying the positions of different persons in the *** smart environment enables remote home care of patients with high reliability,intelligent decision-making,and a predictive capability.

Norepinephrine plays an important role in motor functional recovery after a brain injury caused by ferrous *** of norepinephrine release by clonidine is correlated with motor deficits after motor cortex *** aim of this study was to analyze the role ofα-adrenergic receptors in the restoration of motor deficits in recovering rats after brain *** rats were randomly assigned to the sham and injury groups and then treated with the following pharmacological agents at 3 hours before and 8 hours,3 days,and 20 days after ferrous chloride-induced cortical injury:saline,clonidine,efaroxan(a selective antagonist ofα-adrenergic receptors)and clonidine+*** sensorimotor score,the immunohistochemical staining forα-adrenergic receptors,and norepinephrine levels were *** hours post-injury,the sensorimotor score and norepinephrine levels in the locus coeruleus of the injured rats decreased,and these effects were maintained 3 days ***,20 days later,clonidine administration diminished norepinephrine levels in the pons compared with the sham *** effect was accompanied by sensorimotor *** effects were blocked by *** conclusion,an increase inα-adrenergic receptor levels was observed after *** restores motor deficits in rats recovering from cortical injury,an effect that was prevented by *** underlying mechanisms involve the stimulation of hypersensitiveα-adrenergic receptors and inhibition of norepinephrine activity in the locus *** results of this study suggest thatαreceptor agonists might restore deficits or impede rehabilitation in patients with brain injury,and therefore pharmacological therapies need to be prescribed cautiously to these patients.
