Wetting of a liquid droplet on another liquid substrate is governed by the well-known Neumann *** present work aims to develop an explicit modified version of the Neumann equations for axisymmetric wetting of a liquid droplet on a highly stretched elastic membrane of non-zero bending *** explicit modified form of the Neumann equations is derived to determine the two contact angles,which is reduced to Young's equation for a liquid droplet on a rigid membrane or to the Neumann equations for a liquid droplet on another liquid *** implications of the modified Neumann equations are examined by comparison with some previous results reported in the recent literature,particularly considering the ranges of material and geometrical parameters of the liquid droplet-membrane system which have not been recently addressed in the literature.

Thermal damage of malignant tissue is generally determined not only by the characteristics of bio-tissues and nanoparticles but also the nanofluid concentration distributions due to different injection methods during magnetic *** latter has more advantages in improving the therapeutic effect with respect to the former since it is a determining factor for the uniformity of nanofluid concentration distribution inside the tumor *** study investigates the effect of bio-tissue deformation due to intratumoral injection on the thermal damage behavior and treatment temperature distribution during magnetic hyperthermia,in which both the bio-tissue deformation due to nanofluid injection and the mass diffusion after injection behavior are taken into *** nanofluid flow behavior is illustrated by two different theoretical models in this study,which are Navier–Stokes equation inside syringe needle and modified Darcy’s law inside *** diffusion behavior after nanofluid injection is expressed by a modified convection–diffusion equation.A proposed three-dimensional liver model based on the angiographic data is set to be the research object in this study,in which all bio-tissues are assumed to be deformable porous *** results demonstrate that the injection point for syringe needle can generally achieve the maximum value in the tissue pressure,deformation degree,and interstitial flow velocity during the injection process,all of which then drop sharply with the distance away from the injection *** addition to the bio-tissue deformation due to injection behavior,the treatment temperature is also highly relevant to determine both the diffusion duration and blood perfusion rate due to the thermal damage during the therapy.

In this paper,the assessment of the sensitivity of the soil in the rural area of (c)ukarica municipality to the processes of degradation is *** areas,especially in the vicinity of large cities,are exposed to numerous processes of degradation:soil erosion,urban and industrial zone expansion at the expense of fertile agricultural soils,activation of landslides and a number of other significant ecological *** on the characteristics of the research area,the MEDALUS (Mediterranean Desertification and Land Use) model was applied,and for the assessment of sensitivity to the processes of degradation the main quality indicators were considered:soil,climate,vegetation and *** each of the analyzed quality indicators,parameter groups were *** parameter is quantified according to the defined method by giving them a sensitivity coefficient between 1.0 and *** 10.0 has been applied to analyze and prepare layers of quality ***,the geometric mean for all four quality indicators was used to generate the map of environmental sensitivity to *** results obtained show that 41.54% of the study area is classified as critical;22.34% of the surface as fragile;8.47% of the areas are potentially endangered and 9.58% not threatened to degradation *** results have also shown that MEDALUS model is a functional tool for simulations which support sustainable land management in the areas prone to degradation.

We report some results indicating changes in the observed dynamics of the Rössler model under the influence of external sinusoidal *** varying the control parameters of the external sinusoidal forcing,namely the amplitude and the angular frequency,we show,through numerical simulations which include parameter planes and Lyapunov exponents,that the external forcing can produce both chaos-order and order-chaos *** also show that the sinusoidal forcing may generate hyperchaos.

During the non-breeding season(September–April), Black-tailed Godwits(Limosa limosa) are commonly seen in coastal and inland wetlands of the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna Delta in Bangladesh. We hypothesize that the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna Delta, at the overlap between the central Asian and East Asian–Australasian flyways, may host three subspecies that breed in disjunct areas of temperate and northern Asia: L. l. limosa, L. l. melanuroides, and L. l. bohaii. We used mitochondrial DNA(mt DNA) haplotype network and biometric analysis to determine subspecies in captured individuals, and deployed GPS–GSM transmitters to verify breeding areas of individuals with subspecies assignments. To test for differential habitat preferences, we sampled birds at two ecologically distinct habitats known to host the largest concentrations of non-breeding Black-tailed Godwits in Bangladesh: Nijhum Dweep National Park, a tidal coastal habitat with brackish water on the south-central coast, and Tanguar Haor(‘backmarsh'), a seasonal freshwater floodplain in the north. During the non-breeding seasons of 2021–2022 and 2022–2023, we sampled and measured 93 Black-tailed Godwits, 54 of which were equipped with GPS–GSM transmitters. Our mt DNA haplotype network analysis confirmed the presence of limosa, melanuroides, and bohaii subspecies at the study sites. Thus, indeed, Black-tailed Godwits subspecies, despite having distinct breeding ranges, exhibit(partially) overlapping non-breeding ranges in Asia. The subspecies composition differed significantly between sites, with limosa and bohaii dominating in Tanguar Haor and melanuroides in Nijhum Dweep. Of the 21 individuals that were tracked to their breeding grounds, 18 migrated to the expected breeding range of their respective subspecies. However, one bird with a limosa haplotype migrated to a known breeding area of bohaii, whereas two birds with melanuroides haplotypes migrated to the supposed breeding range of limosa. Extending normal gamma and normal inverse Gaussian models,multivariate normal stable Tweedie(NST)models are composed by a fixed univariate stable Tweedie variable having a positive value domain,and the remaining random variables given the fixed one are real independent Gaussian variables with the same variance equal to the fixed *** the framework of multivariate exponential families,the NST models are recently classified by their covariance matrices V(m)depending on the mean vector *** this paper,we prove the characterization of all the NST models through their determinants of V(m),also called generalized variance functions,which are power of only one component of *** result is established under the NST assumptions of Monge-Ampere property and *** completes the two special cases of NST,namely normal Poisson and normal gamma *** a matter of fact,it provides explicit solutions of particular Monge-Ampere equations in differential geometry.

Structural distortions in nano-materials can induce dramatic changes in their electronic properties. This situation is well manifested in graphene, a two-dimensional honeycomb structure of carbon atoms with only one atomic layer thickness. In particular, strained graphene can result in both charging effects and pseudo-magnetic fields, so that controlled strain on a perfect graphene lattice can be tailored to yield desirable electronic properties. Here, we describe the theoretical foundation for strain-engineering of the electronic properties of graphene, and then provide experimental evidence for strain-induced pseudo-magnetic fields and charging effects in monolayer graphene. We further demonstrate the feasibility of nano-scale strain engineering for graphene-based devices by means of theoretical simulations and nano-fabrication technology.
