Spatiotemporal Variation of Benthic Macroinvertebrates in Some Tropical Forest Streams of the nyong Catchment (Cameroon)

With the aim of assessing the benthic macroinvertebrates’ diversity, a study was carried out in some tropical forest streams of the nyong River catchment in Cameroon from February 2019 to February 2020. A total of 167 samples were carried out from 13 stations during 13 months. Some environmental variables were measured. These parameters varied more or less from station to station but significantly at the temporal level. In this study, 13,690 benthic macroinvertebrates belonging to 4 phyla, 7 classes, 16 orders and 93 families were collected. The benthic macroinvertebrates were more abundant and more diversified in the stations whose waters are well oxygenated and present a moderate current compared to the stations with a very weak current. The diversity varied significantly from 1.33 ± 0.14 bits/ind to 2.00 ± 0.35 bits/ind and the high values were found in stations with multiple substrates and well-oxygenated waters. Temporally, the diversity varied significantly from 1.10 ± 0.16 bits/ind in nM sampling station in February 2020 to 1.87 ± 0.1 bits/ind in the OB sampling station in September. In addition, the settlement was more abundant during the short dry season, more precisely during the month of August (1471 individuals) but richer during the long dry season during the month of February (54 families). The distribution of the abundances of the benthic fauna in the different stations made it possible to identify five typological groups using the rarefaction curves, the ascending hierarchical classification and the principal component analyses. each of these five groups is characterized by a specific taxonomic richness, composition and abundance.

tuning the properties of confined water in standard and lybrid nanotubes： An infrared spectroscopic study

Imogolite is a natural nanotubular aluminum silicate clay mineral found in volcanic soils. Its well-defined, tunable structure makes it a good candidate for studying water confinement in a one-dimensional （1D） structure. Water confinement in self-sustaining imogolite thin films was studied using infrared spectroscopy. Two types of synthetic imogolites were investigated： pristine imogolite （IMO-OH） with a hydrophilic inner surface covered with Si-OH groups and hybrid imogolite （IMO-CH3） with a hydrophobic inner surface covered with Si-CH3 groups. Both imogolites have an outer surface that is covered with Al-OH groups. Infrared spectra were recorded in the 20-4,000 cm^-1 spectral range as a function of relative humidity. Analysis of the O-H stretching band provides information on the H bonding of confined water molecules inside and outside the IMO-OH tubes. The scenario for water filling as a function of relative humidity is determined for both systems. Adsorption begins in the IMO-OH tubes at the lowest relative humidity （〈 10%）. The inner surface of the tubes is first covered with water molecules; then, the central part of the tubes is filled, leading to very strong H bonds and a structured spectrum. In contrast, the H bonds of water adsorbed on the outer surfaces of these tubes are weaker. A different scenario is observed for water inside IMO-CH3： Weakly H-bonded water molecules are present, similar to that observed in carbon nanotubes. Water confinement in imogolites is governed by the hydrophilicity of the inner walls. At similar partial pressures, the degree of H bonding depends on the interactions between water and the nanotube wall.

Foreign bodies are a rare cause of appendicitis, because in most cases these ingested foreign bodies cross the digestive tract asymptomatically [1] [2] [3]. However, some penetrate the lumen of the appendix causing its inflammation. We report an unusual observation of acute appendicitis induced by a foreign body namely a bone fragment in the visceral surgery department of the Centre Hospitalier Intercommunal de Villeneuve Saint-Georges.

Hydatid Cyst of the Liver: About a Case at the Digestive and General Surgery Department of the University Hospital of Bouaké(Côte d’Ivoire)

Hydatid cyst of the liver (KHF) is a parasitic condition caused by the development of the larval form of the dog tapenia echinococcus granulosus. In sub-Saharan Africa, few writings are interested in this pathology, which remains common and constitutes a public health problem in highly endemic countries [1] [2]. We report the observation of a 61-year-old hypertensive patient owner of a dog admitted for abdominal pain without abdominal mass. In whom ultrasound and computed tomography have made it possible to make the diagnosis of hydatid cyst of the liver (KHF). The patient underwent surgery. We performed an associated conservative treatment post-operative albendazole. The post-operative follow-up was simple. In our patient the evolution was good after a setback of more than 2 months. Through this observation and a review of the literature, we insist on the contribution of imaging in diagnosis and treatment, which is essentially surgical.

Traumatic brain injury remains a global health crisis that spans all demographics,yet there exist limited treatment options that may effectively curtail its lingering *** brain injury pathology entails a progression from primary injury to inflammation-mediated secondary cell *** this inflammation as a means of ameliorating the greater symptomology of traumatic brain injury has emerged as an attractive treatment *** this review,we recapitulate and evaluate the important developments relating to regulating traumatic brain injury-induced neuroinflammation,edema,and blood-brain barrier disintegration through pharmacotherapy and stem cell *** these studies of stand-alone treatments have yielded some positive results,more therapeutic outcomes have been documented from the promising area of combined drug and stem cell *** the facilitatory properties of certain pharmaceuticals with the anti-inflammatory and regenerative effects of stem cell transplants creates a synergistic effect greater than the sum of its *** burgeoning evidence in favor of combined drug and stem cell therapies warrants more elaborate preclinical studies on this topic in order to pave the way for later clinical trials.

non-compliant antibiotics pose problems of therapeutic efficacy at the level of the individual, but also a serious public health problem. The objective of our study was to evaluate the quality of generic amoxicillin (42 samples) by analytical methods in Dakar/Senegal. At 100% visual inspection of compliance;100% compliance uniformity test;at the dissolution test all > 80% (86.8% to 108.8%). The presence of amoxicillin with the following contents: Tablets (95.2% to 104.1%);Capsules (91.5% to 113.9%) and Suspensions drinkable (96.9% - 118.7%). All the samples in our study are 100% compliant according to the european and American pharmacopoeias (90% - 120%). Other studies should therefore be oriented in the direction of stability as well as the dosage of degradation products.

This paper studies the zero-electron-mass limit, the quasi-neutral limit and the zero-relaxation-time limit in one-dimensional hydrodynamic models of euler-Poisson system for plasmas and semiconductors. For each limit in the steady-state models, the author proves the strong convergence of the sequence of solutions and gives the corresponding convergence rate. In the time-dependent models, the author shows some useful estimates for the quasi-neutral limit and the zero-electron-mass limit. This study completes the analysis made in [11,12,13,14,19].

Adsorption Kinetics and Thermodynamics Study of Butylparaben on Activated Carbon Coconut Based

In this work, low cost coconut biochar based activated carbon (CBAC) was used for adsorption of Butylparaben (BPB) from aqueous medium. The prepared CBAC was characterized using BeT, Boehm analysis and the adsorption equilibrium, kinetics and thermodynamics studies of BPB adsorption were carried out. During batch adsorption runs, the effects of factors, such as contact time (0 - 300 min), CBAC dose (200 - 800 mg), pH (3 - 11) and solution temperatures (303 - 348 K) were investigated on BPB removal. experimental results reveal that the BPB removal efficiency on CBAC is higher than 97% under acidic and neutral conditions. equilibrium data were fitted by Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models with correlation coefficient more than 0.9. The pseudo-second order kinetic model was observed to fit well the adsorption data. Thermodynamic analysis shows positive values of standard Gibb’s free energy, suggesting the non-spontaneity of the process. The changes in enthalpy (0.2 ***-1) and entropy (19 ***-1) were found to be endothermic with an increase of randomness. The high adsorption efficiency of the synthesized coconut biochar materials with low cost indicates that it may be a promising adsorbent for removing organic compounds.
