Performance analysis of a photovoltaic/thermal system with lunar regolith-based thermal storage for the lunar base

Powering a moon base,especially keeping it warm during the long lunar night,is a big *** paper introduces a photovoltaic/thermal(PV/T)system incorporating regolith thermal storage to solve the challenge of power and heat provision for the lunar base *** vacuum of space around the moon helps this system by reducing heat *** the moon's daytime,the system not only generates electricity but also captures *** stored heat in the regolith is then used at night,reducing the amount of equipment we need to send from *** spectrally selective PV/T panels are designed to absorb a wide range of sunlight(0.3–2.5μm)while minimizing heat loss in the infrared range(3–30μm).Simulation results of the hybrid solar energy system indicate the average value of the overall efficiency is 45.9%,which relatively elevates 56.1%compared to the PV *** launch mass of the proposed PV/T system is only 8.4%of a traditional photovoltaic-lithium battery system with the same amount of energy *** the total specific energy of the proposed system is 7.3 kWh kg^(-1),while that of the photovoltaic-lithium battery system is about 0.3 kWh kg^(-1).In summary,this study proposes an alternative combined heat and electricity supply system for the lunar base,which can greatly reduce the launch mass and free up load for other scientific research equipment.

High-temperature oxidation resistance of Si-coated C/SiC composites

In this paper, Si coatings were sprayed onto C/Si C composite substrates by atmospheric plasma spraying(APS). The high-temperature oxidation behavior of the substrate and coating at temperatures of 1100 and 1300 °C was also studied. The C/Si C ceramic matrix composite will be damaged seriously and even failed due to the oxidation of carbon fibers in matrix. The Si coating effectively improved the oxidation resistance of the C/Si C substrate in the high-temperature oxidation test. The effect of the thickness of the Si coatings on the oxidation resistance was investigated. The 150-μm coating is proved to enable the substrate to have the lowest oxidation weight loss and the best oxidation resistance after static oxidation for 5 h.

Subsurface multi-physical characterization of mountain excavation and city construction in loess plateau with a fiber-optic sensing system

Mountain excavation and city construction(MECC)projects being launched in the Loess Plateau in China involve the creation of large-scale artificial *** the subsurface evolution characteristics of the artificial land is essential,yet ***,we use an improved fiber-optic monitoring system for its subsurface multi-physical *** system enables us to gather spatiotemporal distribution of various parameters,including strata deformation,temperature,and ***’an New District was selected as a case study to conduct refined in-situ monitoring through a 77 m-deep borehole and a 30 m-long *** reveal that the ground settlement involves both the deformation of the filling loess and the underlying intact ***,the filling loess exhibits a stronger creep capability compared to underlying intact *** deformation along the profile is unevenly distributed,with a positive correlation with soil *** accumulation has been observed at the interface between the filling loess and the underlying intact loess,leading to a significant ***,the temperature and moisture in the filling loess have reached a new equilibrium state,with their depths influenced by atmospheric conditions measuring at 31 m and 26 m,*** refined investigation allows us to identify critical layers that matter the sustainable development of newly created urban areas,and provide improved insights into the evolution mechanisms of land creation.

Background: Limited information exists regarding the impact of severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection on psoriasis patients. The objective of this study was to identify clinical factors associated with the prognosis of psoriasis following SARS-CoV-2 ***: A retrospective, multicenter study was conducted between March and May 2023. Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were employed to identify factors associated with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related psoriasis outcomes. The study included 2371 psoriasis patients from 12 clinical centers, with 2049 of them having been infected with ***: Among the infected groups, lower exacerbation rates were observed in individuals treated with biologics compared to those receiving traditional systemic or nonsystemic treatments (22.3% [236/1058]vs. 39.8% [92/231]vs. 37.5% [140/373],P <0.001). Psoriasis progression with lesions (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 8.197, 95% confidence interval [95% CI] = 5.685–11.820, compared to no lesions), hypertension (adjusted OR = 1.582, 95% CI = 1.068–2.343), traditional systemic (adjusted OR = 1.887, 95% CI= 1.263–2.818), and nonsystemic treatment (adjusted OR= 1.602, 95% CI= 1.117–2.297) were found to be associated with exacerbation of psoriasis after SARS-CoV-2 infection, but not biologics (adjusted OR = 0.931, 95% CI = 0.680–1.274, compared to no treatment), according to multivariable logistic regression ***: A reduced risk of psoriasis exacerbation after SARS-CoV-2 infection was observed with biologics compared to traditional systemic and nonsystemic treatments. Significant risk factors for exacerbation after infection were identified as existing psoriatic lesions and hypertension.

Copper is relatively low cost and highly abundant compared with the well-studied noble metals such as gold and ***,the poor plasmonic and high susceptibility towards oxidation limit the study of its optical properties and applications as ***,copper nanoparticles@polycarbonate(Cu@PC)composites were prepared by using a facile one-step solvothermal *** Cu@PC composites have strong localized surface plasmon resonances(LSPR)due to that the PC shell can induce the particles to form many-particles system with different particle numbers,which not only lead to overlap and hybridize of the LSPR modes,but also shift the LSPR away from the interband transitions,and the PC layer also prevents the oxidation of Cu *** photothermal conversion efficiency of Cu@PC composites reaches 41.1%under 808 nm continuous wave(CW)laser irradiation which is higher than previously reported Cu nanomaterials that have been ***,the composites also have high photothermal ***,interfacial evaporator is prepared by assembling the Cu@PC composites on scouring sponge as light absorption layer which has>92.8%absorption in entire solar spectrum *** seawater evaporation rate is 3.177 kg·m^(-2)·h^(-1)with a E_(evaporator)/E_(water)of *** high evaporation rate interfacial evaporator with low cost,simple,and scalable approach shows great application value in the field of photothermal evaporation.

Influence of ion species on extraction characteristics of mixed ion beams

The spatial distributions of different kinds of ions are usually not completely the same in the process of extracting. In order to study the reason for the different characteristics of ion extraction, a simplified simulation model of Cu+ and Cr+ ions extraction process was established by 2D3V (two-dimensional in space and three-dimensional in velocity space) particle-in-cell (PIC) method. The effects of different extraction voltages from 0 V to 500 V on the density distribution of Cu+ and Cr+ ions and the change of plasma emission surface were analyzed. On the basis of this model, the ion density distribution characteristics of Cu+ ions mixed with Li+, Mg+, K+, Fe+, Y+, Ag+, Xe+, Au+, and Pb+ ions respectively under 200-V extraction voltage are further simulated, and it is revealed that the atomic mass of the ions is the key reason for different ion density distributions when different kinds of ions are mixed and extracted, which provides support for further understanding of ion extraction characteristics.

OCTA characteristics in non-arteritic central retinal artery occlusion and correlation with visual acuity

AIM:To observe the retinal and choroidal circulations in patients with non-arteritic permanent central retinal artery occlusion(NA-CRAO)via optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)and analyze their correlation with visual ***:Sixty-two eyes with clinically confirmed acute NA-CRAO were included in the study and divided into:A type(mild n=29),B type(moderate n=27)and C type(severe n=6)based on the degree of visual loss,retinal edema,and arterial blood flow delay in fundus fluorescence angiography(FFA).Contralateral healthy eyes were used as the control ***-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),slit lamp microscopy,indirect ophthalmoscopy,fundus color photography,OCTA,and FFA were ***’s correlation analysis was used to determine the correlations between retinal and choroidal vessels and visual ***:There were no statistically significant differences in age,gender,and intraocular pressure among the three types and the control group(P>0.05).Vessel density in deep capillary plexus(VD-DCP)significantly decreased(Pxus(VD-SVP)significantly decreased(P<0.05)in type A patients and choriocapillaris flow area significantly decreased(P<0.05)in type B and type C patients compared to the control group;while outer retinal flow areas significantly increased in the type A(P<0.05)and decreased in type C patients(P<0.05).The retinal thickness significantly increased in type C group(P<0.05).The VD-SVP at fovea in the type A was significantly lower than both of type B and *** VD-SVP at nasal parafovea in type A and B was significantly lower than type C(P<0.05).The logMAR BCVA of type A was significantly better than that of type B and C groups(P<0.05).Spearman’s correlation analysis showed that the logMAR BCVA was positively correlated with VD-SVP at fovea(r=0.679,P=0.031)and nasal parafovea(r=0.826,P=0.013).CONCLUSION:OCTA is valua

●AIM:To determine the teaching effects of a real-time three dimensional(3D)visualization system in the operating room for early-stage phacoemulsification training.●METHODS:A total of 10 ophthalmology residents of the first-year postgraduate were *** the residents were novices to cataract ***-time cataract surgical observations were performed using a custom-built 3D visualization *** training lasted 4wk(32h)in all.A modified International Council of Ophthalmology’s Ophthalmology Surgical Competency Assessment Rubric(ICO-OSCAR)containing 4 specific steps of cataract surgery was *** self-assessment(self)and expert-assessment(expert)were performed through the microsurgical attempts in the wet lab for each participant.●RESULTS:Compared with pre-training assessments(self 3.2±0.8,expert 2.5±0.6),the overall mean scores of posttraining(self 5.2±0.4,expert 4.7±0.6)were significantly improved after real-time observation training of 3D visualization system(P<0.05).Scores of 4 surgical items were significantly improved both self and expert assessment after training(P<0.05).●CONCLUSION:The 3D observation training provides novice ophthalmic residents with a better understanding of intraocular microsurgical *** is a useful tool to improve teaching efficiency of surgical education.

Preventive effects of Bifidobacterium lactis Probio-M8 on ovalbumin-induced food allergy in mice

Food allergy is a significant public health concern *** probiotics have been found to enhance food allergy by regulating immune-microbe interactions in animal models and ***,the effects of Bifidobacterium lactis Probio-M8 on food allergy have not been thoroughly *** present study examined the anti-allergic properties of Probio-M8,particularly in relation to immune response and gut microbiota *** demonstrate that oral administration of Probio-M8 effectively mitigated the allergy symptoms triggered by ovalbumin(OVA)by ameliorating the morphological damage in the jejunum,reducing OVA-specific IgE and histamine levels in the serum,and suppressing Th2 cytokines(interleukin(IL)4 and IL-13)while increasing Th1 cytokines(interferon(IFN)γ)and regulatory T(Treg)cytokines(IL-10 and transforming growth factor(TGF)β1)in the culture supernatants of splenic ***,Probio-M8 effectively altered the diversity and composition of gut microbiota,particularly the relative abundances of Akkermansia_muciniphila in OVA-induced *** to the OVA group,the Probio-M8 group showed a decrease in the relative abundance of Akkermansia_*** conclusion,Probio-M8 demonstrates the potential to alleviate food allergy by regulating the Th1/Th2 response and modulating gut microbiota,thereby offering a novel therapeutic strategy for patients with food allergy.

Emerging as a prominent area of focus in energy conversion and storage technologies,the development of highly active metal-based single-atom catalysts(SACs)holds great signiﬁcance in searching alternatives to replace precious metals toward the efficient,stable,and low-cost hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),as well as the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).Combining the tremendous tunability of ligand and coordination environment with rich metal-based electrocatalysts can create breakthrough opportunities for achieving both high stability and ***,we propose a novel and stable holey graphene-like carbon nitride monolayer g-C_(16)N5(N_(4)@g-C_(16)N_(3))stoichiometries interestingly behaving as a natural substrate for constructing SACs((TM-N_(4))@g-C_(16)N_(3)),whose evenly distributed holes map rich and uniform nitrogen coordination positions with electron-rich lone pairs for anchoring transition metal(TM)***,we employed density functional theory(DFT)calculations to systematically investigate the electrocatalytic activity of(TM-N_(4))@g-C_(16)N_(3) toward HER/OER/ORR,meanwhile considering the synergistic modulation of H-loading and O-coordination((TM-N_(x)O_(4-x))@g-C_(16)N_(3)^(-)H_(3),x=0–4).Together a“four-step procedure”screening mechanism with the first-principles high-throughput calculations,we find that(Rh-N_(4))and(Ir-N_(2)O_(2)-II)distributed on g-C_(16)N_(3)^(-)H_(3) can modulate the adsorption strength of the adsorbates,thus achieving the best HER/OER/ORR performance among 216 candidates,and the lowest overpotential of 0.098/0.3/0.46 V and 0.06/0.48/0.45 V,***,the d-band center,crystal orbital Hamilton population(COHP),and molecular orbitals are used to reveal the OER/ORR activity ***,the Rh/Ir-d orbital is dramatically hybridized with the O-p orbital of the oxygenated adsorbates,so that the lone-electrons incipiently locate at the antibonding orbital pair up and popula
