Opium withdrawal and some blood biochemical factors in addicts' individuals

Objective: One of the common misinterpretation be- liefs in some societies (especially eastern communities) is the using of opium can reduce serum glucose and lipids. Opium is a derivative from a plant family called Papaveracea and contains almost 80 types of alkaloids. Drug addiction causes physiological dependency and its withdrawal lead to some disorders. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of opium consumption and its withdrawal on some blood biochemical factors in addicted people. Methods: We enrolled fifty-six opium addicted people according to the especial criteria to this study. Biochemical blood parameter levels such as fasting blood sugar (FBS), urea, Creatinine (Cr), Aspartate transaminase (AST), Alanine transaminase (ALT) and Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) enzymes levels were measured and urine analysis was also performed before and 3 months after withdrawal. Data were analyzed by using SPSS software version 18 and a P < 0.05 was considered as significant. Results: our finding showed that opium withdrawal reduces FBS and increases AST but these changes were not significant. Nevertheless opium withdrawal significantly increased blood urea level (P < 0.0001). We didn’t find any significant difference in Cr, ALP, AST and Urea specific gravity (SG). Conclusion: According to the results of the current study we can concluded that opium increases FBS, which is in contrast to the most previous studies and withdrawal has opposite effects.

A comparison of culture and PCR methods for identification of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans isolated from acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis

Objective: To determine Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (A. actinomycetemcomitans) isolated from periodontal patients and healthy subjects using culture and PCR methods. Methods: Duplicate paper point needles were taken from 100 samples (50 healthy subjects and 50 patients), who referred to the specialized dental clinic from Oct. 2015 to Mar. 2016. In laboratory after incubation period and observing the star-shaped colony A. actinomycetemcomitans, the confirmation tests, including gram staining and catalase test were carried out. For PCR, samples were analyzed with genus specific primers. These primers set, amplified a 500 bp fragment. Results: Of the 100 samples, A. actinomycetemcomitans was isolated from 31 patients (31%), (24 isolate of patients, and 7 isolate of healthy subjects) by using a selective Aggregatibacter isolation medium. Using PCR, a total of 49 (49%) samples were found to be positive for A. actinomycetemcomitans (35 isolate of patients, and 14 isolate of healthy subjects). Conclusion: PCR was found to be highly sensitive when genus specific primers were used for diagnosis of A. actinomycetemcomitans in comparison with culture method.

BACKGROUND There are no consistent results between previous studies for an independent association between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)and cardiovascular disease(CVD)*** To determine if there is an independent association between NAFLD and CVD *** In the present study,valid outcome data of 4808 subjects were available for phase 2 of our cohort *** subjects had been followed up for seven years from phase 1,beginning in 2009-2010 to phase 2 during *** and multiple Cox proportional models were used to determine the association between NAFLD in the primary phase of the cohort and subsequent fatal and non-fatal CVD events during *** The incidence of non-fatal CVD events in males with NAFLD was significantly higher(P=0.004)than in males without NAFLD.A positive association was demonstrated between NAFLD and non-fatal CVD events in males(Hazard ratio=1.606;95%CI:1.166-2.212;P=0.004)by the simple Cox proportional hazard model,but no independent association was detected between these in the multiple Cox *** No independent association was detected between NAFLD and *** is likely that diabetes mellitus and age may be the principle mediators in this regard.

Dalpari油田是个小背斜构造，长13km，宽5km。Dalpari背斜构造位于伊朗西南部的Lurestan省，在Dezful市西北70km和Dehluran市东南60km处。在这个背斜上钻的第一口井和第二口井都偏离了这个构造。1978年，在这个构造顶部钻开了第三口井（DP-3），在白垩纪（Bangestan组的Ilam和Sarvak储集层里）地层中发现了商业油气流。为了评价Ilam和Sarvak地层，钻了第四口井（DP-4），但由于井的轨迹偏向了西南，并钻遇到了Kalhur小层中的一个没有料到的额外较厚层，在没有钻到目的层之前，就终止了钻井。接着进行了井眼成像测井，以便查明钻遇这个额外厚层的原因。因为这口井的泥浆是用82％的油和18％的水混和成的油基泥浆，在油基泥浆中测量的成像井段为：1692～2518m。除了井眼成像外，还测量了GR和DT测井。油基泥浆和声成像测井为解释提供了高品质的成像资料。填埋了DP-4井的Asmari地层后，为了评价Sarvak地层，用6．125in钻头和水基泥浆在该井的一侧打开一个窗口进行侧钻，这个侧钻井的井名是DP-4-ST1，它的平均井斜为60°。为了更好地了解储层特性，伊朗中心油田公司（以下称ICOFC）决定进行电成像测井及全套常规测井服务（密度、中子、电阻率、声波、自然伽马）。电成像测井主要目的是识别Sarvak地层的构造倾角、断裂带和找出高孔隙夹层。在无任何地震资料的情况下，根据对两条成像资料的分析观察，并与DP-3测井资料相结合，去解释逆断层的构造环境。这种情况研究显示，在无地震资料的情况下，成像测井能提供关键性的信息，构造地质学家和油藏地质学家能用来对一些主要问题给出一个可靠的解决办法。但笔者认为这个构造环境是不全面的，为了更好地评价这个构造，ICOFC应该结合地震资料和成像资料。

Water Flow Path Characterization in Shallow Vadose Zone Using Tensiometers

In this project, we will present the findings of a study using Tensiometer systems designed to investigate the water flow path pattern in shallow vadose zone. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate water flow path in shallow vadose zone and to calculate the infiltration rate and hydraulic conductivity of a soil using Tensiometer. We have measured the subsurface water flow paths in sandy clay loam soil following infiltration experiment using Tensiometers. The matric potential and hydraulic conductivity measurements show that subsequent infiltration and water movement in unsaturated (vadose) zone are vertical, but it can have large lateral component under steady condition. This shows that water moves generally from high water content to lower water content region. Average pressure head for the percolation test conduction locations EB and HB was -30 and -80 cm respectively. Hysteresis produces another interesting situation when the soil is drained. We found that the wetter portion of the soil in vadose zone could be at a lower potential (head) than the dryer portions, resulting in lateral driving force for a preferential flow of water from the dryer to the wet soil. The infiltration rate for the 5 cm ponded water was calculated at 5.45 cm/hr. The infiltration rate curve shows that the rate of infiltration decreases with the time. When infiltration first starts, the wetting front is steep and very close to the surface. Similarly, due to the pressure head gradient, large value for infiltration is recorded. Under these conditions, we believe that the gradient in pressure head is responsible for the rapid movement of water into the dry soil. The effect of gravity is less on water during the initial stages of infiltration;however, it is more effective for preferential flow pattern. In the latter infiltration event, the wetting front has moved deeper into the soil. As a result, the pressure head gradient at the surface is much smaller and consequently has little effect. Wh

炎症性肠病患者抗氧化能力的变化与唾液中表皮生长因子及NO水平的关系

Despite extensive investigation, the pathophysiology of human inflammatory bo wel disease (IBD) remains incompletely understood. We examined the existence of oxidative and nitrosative stress and also alterations in epidermal growth factor (EGF) secretion in saliva of IBD patients. Saliva samples were obtained from 30 nonsmoking IBD patients including 16 Crohn’ s disease (CD) pat ients and 16 ulcerative colitis (UC) patients and 16 age- and sex- matched co ntrols. Samples were analyzed for thiobarbituric reactive substances (TBARS) as a marker of lipid peroxidation, ferric reducing ability (antioxidant power), and EGF and nitric oxide (NO) levels. Saliva TBARS levels increased significantly ( P < 0.01) in CD patients but not in UC patients. Analysis of antioxidant power r evealed that saliva of CD patients has lower antioxidant power (P < 0.01) than s aliva of the healthy control population. The concentration of EGF was found to b e increased (P < 0.01) in saliva of CD patients in comparison to that of healthy subjects. NO levels increased in saliva of both CD and UC patients in compariso n to that of healthy subjects. It is concluded that excessive NO production is p resent in saliva of both CD and UC patients but only saliva of CD patients is ox idatively stressed. EGF secretion is normal in UC patients, although CD patients show a significant increase in salivary EGF levels.
