Numerical stability when integrating plane waves of cubic SchrSdinger equation is thor- oughly analysed for some explicit exponential methods. We center on the following second- order methods： Strang splitting and Lawson method based on a one-parameter family of 2-stage 2nd-order explicit Runge-Kutta methods. Regions of stability are plotted and numerical results are shown which corroborate the theoretical results. Besides, a tech- nique is suggested to avoid the possible numerical instabilities which do not correspond to continuous ones.

Leaf senescence is a complex phenomenon occurring in all plant species, but it is still poorly understood in plants grown in mediterranean field conditions and well-adapted to harsh climatic conditions. To better understand the physiological processes underlying leaf senescence in mastic trees （Pistacia lentiscus L.）, we evaluated leaf growth, water and N content, photosystem II （PSII） photochemistry, lipid peroxidation and levels of photosynthetic pigments, antioxidants, abscisic acid, and salicylic acid and jasmonic acid during the complete leaf lifespan, from early expansion to late senescence in relation to natural climatic conditions in the field. While mature leaves suffered from water and N deficit during late spring and summer, both young （emerging） and old （senescing） leaves were most sensitive to photo- oxidative stress, as indicated by reductions in the Fv/Fm ratio and enhanced lipid peroxidation during late autumn and winter. Reductions in the FvlFm ratio were associated with low ^-tocopherol （vitamin E） levels, while very old, senescing leaves additionally showed severe anthocyanin losses. We have concluded that both young （emerging） and old （senescing） leaves suffer oxidative stress in mastic trees, which may be linked in part to suboptimal temperatures during late autumn and winter as well as to low vitamin E levels.

The tumor microenvironment is an ecosystem composed of multiple types of cells, such as tumor cells, immune cells, and cancerassociated fibroblasts. Cancer cells grow faster than non-cancerous cells and consume larger amounts of nutrients. The rapid growth characteristic of cancer cells fundamentally alters nutrient availability in the tumor microenvironment and results in reprogramming of immune cell metabolic pathways. Accumulating evidence suggests that cellular metabolism of nutrients, such as lipids and amino acids, beyond being essential to meet the bioenergetic and biosynthetic demands of immune cells, also regulates a broad spectrum of cellular signal transduction, and influences immune cell survival, differentiation, and anti-tumor effector function. The cancer immunometabolism research field is rapidly evolving, and exciting new discoveries are reported in high-profile journals nearly weekly. Therefore, all new findings in this field cannot be summarized within this short review. Instead, this review is intended to provide a brief introduction to this rapidly developing research field, with a focus on the metabolism of two classes of important nutrients-lipids and amino acids-in immune cells. We highlight recent research on the roles of lipids and amino acids in regulating the metabolic fitness and immunological functions of T cells, macrophages, and natural killer cells in the tumor microenvironment. Furthermore, we discuss the possibility of “editing” metabolic pathways in immune cells to act synergistically with currently available immunotherapies in enhancing anti-tumor immune responses.

The use of positron emission tomography with fluor-18-fluorodeoxyglucose(FDG-PET)in clinical practice for patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC)has expanded rapidly,with implications for diagnostic staging,radiotherapy planning,adaptive radiotherapy,and post-therapy *** implementation of FDG-PET/CT in radiation treatment planning not only has consequences for target volume definition and dose prescription but is also associated with an increased overall survival in patients with ***-PET/CT-guided gradient dose prescription provides a window of opportunity for treatment de-intensification of the neck in order to decrease treatment-related toxicity without compromising oncological ***,interim FDG-PET/CT during radiotherapy can be useful to assess metabolic tumor response and enables opportunities for adaptive treatment *** goals are to increase treatment effectivity in poor responders and reduce unnecessary toxicity in patients with good early tumor *** prospective trials investigating adaptive radiotherapy based on interim PET-evaluation are needed,especially regarding human papilloma virus-negative HNSCC and patients treated with primary radiotherapy.

Early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer are essential for successful treatment. Currently mammography and ultrasound are the basic imaging techniques for the detection and localization of breast tumors. The low sensitivity and specificity of these imaging tools resulted in a demand for new imaging modalities and breast magnetic resonance imaging(mRI) has become increasingly important in the detection and delineation of breast cancer in daily practice. However, the clinical benefits of the use of pre-operative mRI in women with newly diagnosed breast cancer is still a matter of debate. The main additional diagnostic value of mRI relies on specific situations such as detecting multifocal, multicentric or contralateral disease unrecognized on conventional assessment(particularly in patients diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma), assessing the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy, detection of cancer in dense breast tissue, recognition of an occult primary breast cancer in patients presenting with cancer metastasis in axillary lymph nodes, among others. Nevertheless, the development of new mRI technolo-gies such as diffusion-weighted imaging, proton spectroscopy and higher field strength 7.0 T imaging offer a new perspective in providing additional information in breast abnormalities. We conducted an expert literature review on the value of breast mRI in diagnosing and staging breast cancer, as well as the future potentials of new mRI technologies.
