Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2)causes the compli-cated disease *** are continuously facing huge problems in the treatment of patients,as COVID-19-specific drugs are not available,hence the principle of drug repurpos-ing serves as a one-and-only ***,the repurposing of many drugs is underway;few of them are already approved by the regulatory bodies for their clinical use and most of them are in different phases of clinical *** in this review,our main aim is to discuss in detail the up-to-date information on the target-based pharmacological classification of repurposed drugs,the potential mechanism of actions,and the current clinical trial status of various drugs which are under repurposing since early *** last,we briefly proposed the probable phar-macological and therapeutic drug targets that may be preferred as a futuristic drug discovery approach in the development of effective medicines.

Simulating molten pool features of shipbuilding steel subjected to submerged arc welding

Submerged arc welding process has been simulated to investigate the molten pool features of EH36 shipbuilding *** case only involved the surface tension model,and another one involved both the surface tension model and the interface tension *** role of interface tension during welding is revealed,and the evolution of molten pool morphology is understood by comparing the surface temperature distribution,surface tension and interface tension distribution,and the streamline of the molten pool for the two *** the interface tension model is disregarded,a flow conducive to the outward expansion is formed in the surface area of the molten pool,resulting in a small weld depth-to-width *** applying the interface tension model,the expanding outward flow is restrained,which leads to a deep penetration morphology with a large weld depth-to-width ratio due to the inward flow governed by the Marangoni *** simulation results involving the interface tension model have been verified with satisfactory predictability.

Effect of temperature on the intensity and carrier lifetime of an AlGaAs based red light emitting diode

The influence of temperature on the intensity of light emitted by as well as the carrier life time r of a standard A1GaAs based light emitting diode has been investigated in the temperature range from 345 to 136 K. The open-circuit voltage decay （OCVD） technique has been used for measured the carrier lifetime. Our experimental results reveal a 16% average increase in intensity and a 163.482-19.765 ns variation in carrier lifetime in the above temperature range. Further, theoretical and experimental analysis show that for negligible carrier density the intensity is inversely proportional to carrier lifetime for this sample.

The paper deals with growth estimates and approximation(not necessarily entire) of solutions of certain elliptic partial differential equations. These solutions are called generalized bi-axially symmetric potentials(GBASP’s). To obtain more refined measure of growth, we have defined q-proximate order and obtained the characterization of generalized q-type and generalized lower q-type with respect to q-proximate order of a GBASP in terms of approximation errors and ratio of these errors in sup norm.

Fucoidan can cure both antimony-sensitive and antimony-resistant visceral leishmaniasis through immune activation. However, the signaling events underlying this cellular response remain uncharacterized. The present study reveals that fucoidan induces activation of p38 and ERKI/2 and NF-κB DNA binding in both normal and Leishmania *** macrophages, as revealed by western blotting and electrophoretic mobility shift assay （EMSA）, respectively. Pharmacological inhibition of p38, ERKI/2 or the NF-κB pathway markedly attenuated fucoidan-induced pro-inflammatory cytokine synthesis and inducible nitric oxide synthase （iNOS） gene transcription, resulting in a reduction of parasite clearance. To decipher the underlying mechanism of fucoidan-mediated parasite suppression, the expression and functionality of various protein kinase C （PKC） isoforms were evaluated by immunoblotting and enzyme activity assay. Fucoidan elicited an increase in expression and activity of PKC-α, -β1 and -βⅡ isoforms in infected macrophages. Functional knockdown of PKC-α and -β resulted in downregulation of p38 and ERKI/2, along with a marked reduction of IL-12 and TNF-α production in fucoidan-treated infected macrophages. Collectively, these results suggest that the curative effect of fucoidan is mediated by PKC-dependent activation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase （MAPK）/NF-κB pathway, which ultimately results in the production of nitric oxide （NO） and disease-resolving pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Health insurance lowers the medical financial burden of the insured through a risk-sharing mechanism, and more importantly, reduces the motivation for precautionary saving. This paper explores the relationship between health insurance coverage and household financial portfolios. We choose 2002 urban China as a case study when the health insurance system had a problem of limited adverse selection. Using data from the 2002 Chinese Household Income Project Survey, we find that health insurance coverage influences households＇ preference for financial assets, especially for the risky financial assets. These effects become more pronounced as the coverage rate of health insurance in the family increases. Our results are consistent with precautionary saving theory which suggests that future expenditure risk could affect household asset portfolios. Therefore, development of social security or a health insurance system could effectively promote the development of financial markets, especially riskier aspects of financial markets.

The REE and Pb ,Sr,Nd isotopes in three xenoliths from limburgite and scoria-breccias,including spinel-lherzolite,spinel-gamet-1herzolite and phlogopite-gamet-1herzolite,were *** REE contentso of the xenoliths are 1.3 to 3.3 times those of the chondrites with their REE pattems characterized by weak LREE *** ^143Nd/^144Nd values of whole rocks and minerals range from 0.51306 to 0.51345 with εNd=+8.2-+15.8,^206Pb/^204Pb<18.673,and ^207Pb/^204Pb<15.574,All this goes to show that the upper mantle in Mingxi at the depth of 67-82km is a depleted mantle of MORB type,with ^87Sr/^86Sr ratios *** Nd-Sr diagram the data points of whole rocks are all out of the mantle array,implying that the xenoliths from Mingxi have more radiogenic Sr isotopes than those of the mantle array.

The middle and upper atmosphere of Earth displays many large-scale oscillations in several parameters. Of these oscillations, Atmospheric Oscillation (AO) and Semi-annual Oscillation (SAO) are prominent ones. In this work, we have analyzed the Very Low Frequency/Low Frequency (VLF/LF) data from two of the transmitters of frequency 45.9 kHz at NSY, Sicily, Italy and 37.5 kHz at Grindavik, Iceland. The selected Trasmitter-Receiver Great Circle Path (TRGCP) is middle latitude which is marine in case of Grindavik TRGCP and terrestrial in case of NSY TRGCP. The VLF/LF signals are bounced back and forth from D-layer of ionosphere (altitude at ~65 km during day and ~95 km during night) in Earth-ionospheric waveguide. This infers the presence of atmospheric oscillations as a consequence of change in ionization and recombination rates. Many works related to AO and SAO are mostly done only for equatorial region of the ionosphere and authors have reported the elegant dominancy of AO and SAO in the VLF/LF amplitude pattern over years. To our surprise, in our work it is seen that not only AO and SAO but also other oscillations are necessary to model the oscillation pattern of middle latitude ionosphere.

A detailed examination on various aspects of the southwest monsoon over the Indian subcontinent using analyses and forecasts of the NCMRWF global data assimilation and forecast system for the years 1994 and 1996 is carried out in this study. Objective procedures developed by Ramesh et al. (1996) based on the monsoon 1995 data are employed in the present work. It is found that all the deterministic features of the summer monsoon viz., the onset, its advancement, stagnation/revival and the withdrawal, can reasonably by prognosticated after employing the objective methodologies and monitoring daily variations of certain derived quantities from the large scale analyses and forecasts. Further, a good correspondence of the observed large scale/synoptic scale circulation features and the observed rainfall etc. with the deterministic characteristics of the summer monsoon show a good prospect for real time prognosis of the important summer monsoon activities over the Indian subcontinent.
