Electrochemical water splitting is a straightforward process that involves two distinct reactions:the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)which produces oxygen(O_(2))and the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)which generates hydrogen(H_(2)).However,in the whole process,the OER is a bottleneck as it requires more energy than a four-electron reaction involving critical raw materials(such as RuO_(2)or IrO_(2))as ***,here,we address the challenge of erratic kinetics/limited durability of OER in water electrolysis,In this paper,we demonstrate that the deposition of ultrasmall amounts of nickel(Ⅱ)nitrate in zeolitic imidazolate framework-67(ZIF-67)can be used as a general approach to enhance the electrocatalytic performance of the *** investigated the influence of Ni(NO_(3))·x6H_(2)O loading on ZIF-67(from 0.1 to 0.0001 M)and found that ZIF-67 enriched with only 0.001 M of Ni(NO_(3))2·x6H_(2)O(ZIF-670.001 Ni)exhibited massive promotion in *** ZIF-670.001 Ni showed a large specific surface area of 2577 m^(2)g^(-1),a low overpotential of 299 mV,a lower Tafel slope of 94.1 mA dec^(-1),and an outstanding overpotential retention of 99.8%(at 50 mA cm^(-2)).By conducting electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)measurements,we also discovered that the 0.001 M of Ni(NO_(3))_(2)·x6H_(2)O loading in ZIF-67 introduces Ni^(^(2+))dimers,which contribute to the enhanced electroactivity of the modified *** phenomenon was further revealed during density-functional theory(DFT)calculations,which allowed us to identify different possible forms of Ni^(^(2+))dimers and modeling of active *** with in situ experiments,we provide mechanistic insight into the OER mechanism under alkaline conditions and found that it follows the lattice oxygen mechanism(LOM).Our study proposes a facile and efficient room-temperature route to boost the electrochemical performance of ZIF-67 in *** the first time,we demonstrate that modifying ZIF-67 with an ultrasmall amoun

Metal matrix composites tiles based on Ti-6Al-4V(Ti64)alloy,reinforced with 10,20,and 40(vol%)of either TiC or TiB particles were made using press-and-sinter blended elemental powder metallurgy(BEPM)and then bonded together into 3-layer laminated plates using hot isostatic pressing(HIP).The laminates were ballistically tested and demonstrated superior *** microstructure and properties of the laminates were analyzed to determine the effect of the BEPM and HIP processing on the ballistic properties of the layered *** effect of porosity in sintered composites on further diffusion bonding of the plates during HIP is analyzed to understand the bonding features at the interfaces between different adjacent layers in the *** ballistic performance of fabricated structures was explained by a significant reduction in the residual porosity of the BEPM products by their additional processing using HIP,which provides an unprecedented increase in the hardness of the layered *** is argued that the combination of the used two technologies,BEPM and HIP is principally complimentary for the materials in question with the abilities to solve the essential problems of each used individually.

The thiolliericrinids(Thiolliericrinidae) are comatulids(Comatulida),which retained their stalks as ***,we report a centrodorsal from the Bajocian strata(Middle Jurassic) of the Djebel Kérdacha area,northwestern Algeria(Africa).It is the first thiolliericrinid report from outside of Europe and also the oldest representative of the Thiolliericrinidae whose first occurrence is from the *** crinoid is assigned to Copernicrinus zamorae *** *** reported new taxon shows strong similarities with the stemless ‘true’comatulids,Solanocrinites;the only difference is the presence of a facet to the stem in *** closest comparable thiolliericrinid to Copernicrinus is the Oxfordian Thiolliericrinus,interpreted as a descendant of the *** origin and overview of all thiolliericrinid representatives are also discussed herein.

Treatment refractory mast cell leukemia with dominant gastrointestinal manifestation and concomitant skin symptoms:A case report

BACKGROUND Mast cell leukemia(MCL),a subtype of systemic mastocytosis(SM),is an extremely rare clinical entity characterized by a very poor ***,tyrosine kinase inhibitors,and allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation are the only treatment options,but they cannot provide the desired outcomes in most cases of ***,other types of SM can be successfully *** disease has no specific manifestation,but gastroenterological symptoms are present in most *** SUMMARY The authors,hereby,report a case of a 46-year-old female patient diagnosed with MCL-the rarest subtype of *** patient presented to the gastroenterology clinic with multiple,various,and unspecific gastroenterological *** of skin lesions significantly contributed to a relatively prompt *** serum tryptase level was extremely high and bone the marrow aspirate showed an infiltration of atypical mast *** disease was rapidly progressive and primary refractory to chemotherapy and the patient succumbed to the illness about a month after the initiation of *** Despite its“hematological nature”,MCL,in most cases presents dominantly with unspecific gastroenterological ***,a high disease awareness among physicians other than hematologists is necessary to improve treatment *** tryptase level,due to its non-invasive nature and easy access,may serve as an initial step to estimate the probability of mastocytosis.

Influence of processing history on microstructure， mechanical properties， and electrical conductivity of Cu-0.7Mg alloy

The effects of forward extrusion as well as extrusion combined with reversible torsion (KoBo extrusion)， followed by additional deformation via the MaxStrain module of the Gleeble thermomechanical simulator， on the microstructure， mechanical properties， and electrical conductivity of a Cu-0.7Mg (wt.%) alloy， were investigated in this work. The simulation results highlighted the critical influence of processing history in determining the equivalent strain distribution. The sample subjected to forward extrusion at 400 ℃and subsequent MaxStrain processing (FM sample)， possessed 76% lower grain size compared to the sample processed solely with MaxStrain (AM sample). Likewise， the KoBo-extruded and MaxStrain-processed sample (KM sample) exhibited 66% smaller grain size compared to the AM sample. Tensile test results revealed that the AM， FM， and KM samples， respectively， possessed 251%， 288%， and 360% higher yield strength， and 95%， 121%， and 169% higher tensile strength compared to the initial annealed alloy， as a result of grain refinement as well as deformation strengthening. Finally， the electrical conductivity measurements revealed that AM， FM， and KM samples， respectively， possessed electrical conductivity values of 37.9， 35.6， and 32.0 (MS/m)， which， considering their mechanical properties， makes them eligible to be categorized as high-strength and high-conductivity copper alloys.

A new oral formulation for the release of sodium butyrate in the ileo-cecal region and colon

AIM： To develop a new formulation with hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose and Shellac coating for extended and selective delivery of butyrate in the ileo-caecal region and colon. METHODS： One-gram sodium butyrate coated tablets containing ^13C-butyrate were orally administered to 12 healbhy subjects and 12 Crohn＇s disease patients and the rate of ^13C-butyrate absorption was evaluated by t3CO2 breath test analysis for eight hours. Tauroursodeoxycholic acid （500 rag） was co-administered as a biomarker of oro-ileal transit time to determine also the site of release and absorption of butyrate by the time of its serum maximum concentration. RESULTS： The coated formulation delayed the ^13C-butyrate release by 2-3 h with respect to the uncoated tablets. Sodium butyrate was delivered in the intestine of all subjects and a more variable transit time was found in Crohn＇s disease patients than in healthy subjects. The variability of the peak ^13CO2 in the kinetic release of butyrate was explained by the inter-subject variability in transit time. However, the coating chosen ensured an efficient release of the active compound even in patients with a short transit time. CONCLUSION： Simultaneous evaluation of breath ^13CO2 and tauroursodeoxycholic acid concentrationtime curves has shown that the new oral formulation consistently releases sodium butyrate in the ileo-cecal region and colon both in healthy subjects and Crohn＇s disease patients with variable intestinal transit time. This formulation may be of therapeutic value in inflammatory bowel disease patients due to the appropriate release of the active compound.

The incidence and prevalence of Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), the two major forms of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), are rising in western countries. The modern hygienic lifestyle is probably at the root of a disease where, in genetically susceptible hosts, the intestinal commensal flora triggers dysregulated immune and inflammatory responses. Current therapies ranging from anti-inflammatory drugs to immunosuppressive regimens, remain inadequate. Advances in our understanding of the cell populations involved in the pathogenetic processes and recent findings on the regenerative, trophic and immunoregulatory potential of stem cells open new paths in IBD therapy. Hematopoietic and mesenchymal stem cells are catalyzing the attention of IBD investigators. This review highlights the pivotal fi ndings for stem cell-based approaches to IBD therapy and collects the encouraging results coming in from clinical trials.

A new iron free treatment with oral fish cartilage polysaccharide for iron deficiency chronic anemia in inflammatory bowel diseases:A pilot study

AIM： To investigate the effect of a new oral preparation, highly concentrated in fish cartilage, in a group of inflammatory bowel diseases （IBD） patients with chronic iron deficient anemia. METHODS： In an open label pilot study, we supplemented a group of 25 patients （11 with Crohn＇s disease and 14 with ulcerative colitis） in stable clinical conditions and chronic anemia with a food supplement which does not contain iron but contains a standardized fraction of fish cartilage glycosaminoglycans and a mixture of antioxidants （Captafer Medestea, Turin, Italy）. Patients received 500 mg, twice a day during meals, for at least 4 mo. Patients were suggested to maintain their alimentary habit. At time 0 and after 2 and 4 too, emocrome, sideremia and ferritin were examined. Paired data were analyzed with Student＇s t test. RESULTS： Three patients relapsed during the study （2 in the 3^rd too, 1 in the 4^th too）, two patients were lost to follow up and two patients dropped out （1 for orticaria, 1 for gastric burning）. Of the remaining 18 patients, levels of serum iron started to rapidly increase within the 2^nd mo of treatment, P 〈 0.05）, whereas serum ferritin and hemoglobin needed a longer period to significantly improve their serum levels （too 4） P 〈 0.05. The product was safe, easy to administer and well tolerated by patients. CONCLUSION： These data suggest a potential new treatment for IBD patients with iron deficiency chronic anemia and warrant further larger controlled studies.

Therapeutic effectiveness of echo-guided percutaneous radiofrequency ablation therapy with a LeVeen needle electrode in hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM： To investigate the results of radiofrequency ablation （RFA） in obtaining the necrosis of hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） in cirrhotic patients and to assess the results of RFA in relation to recurrence of HCC and survival of the treated patients.METHODS： Fifty-six consecutive cirrhotic patients with 63 HCCs were treated with RFA between May 2000 and May 2004. The diameter of the HCCs ranged from 1 cm to 5 cm （mean 2.8 cm）. In all cases RFA was performed with percutaneous approach under ultrasound guidance using expandable needle electrode （LeVeen needle）. Treatment efficacy and recurrence were evaluated with dual-phase spiral computed tomography （CT）.RESULTS： Complete necrosis after single or multiple treatment was achieved in 96.8% （61/63） tumors. We observed recurrence after complete necrosis in 23 patients （41%） during a mean follow-up of 32.3 months. The recurrences were local in 2 patients （8.6%） and in different segments in 21 （91.4%）. Major complications occurred in 3 patients （4%）. During follow-up period, 32 （57.1%） patients died; 15 due to progression of HCC, 11 from liver failure, 3 from esophageal varices bleeding and 3 from the causes not related to liver disease.CONCLUSION： RFA with LeVeen needle is an effective and safe treatment for HCC 〈 5cm in cirrhotic patients. It has yet to be established how far this treatment influences the survival rate of patients. It becomes important to establish treatments to prevent recurrences in different segments, such as interferon therapy.

Wines contain significant amounts of polyphenols which autoxidize upon contact with oxygen,producing hydrogen *** checked more than 40 samples of white and red wines finding,on average,production of small amounts of hydrogen peroxide within 3 h after the wines had contacted with air,though some samples did not produce detectable amounts of H_(2)O_(2).The increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration after 3-h incubation of wines after opening ranged from -3.09 to 6.60μ*** showed also the ability of hydrogen peroxide scavenging,which can be partly attributed to ***,the measured net production of hydrogen peroxide in wine is a result of the actual production and scavenging of hydrogen peroxide.
