In the phl.em cap region o i Arabidopsis pl.nts,sul.ur-rich cel.s(S-cel.s)accumul.te>100 mM gl.cosinol.tes(Gl.),but are biosynthetical.y *** source and route of S-cel.-bound Gl. remain *** this study,using singl.-cel. sampl.ng and scanning el.ctron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray anal.sis we show that two Gl. importers,NPF2.10/GTR1 and NPF2.11/GTR2,are critical.for Gl. accumul.tion in S-cel.s,al.hough they are not l.cal.zed in the *** of Gl. l.vel. in S-cel.s in mul.ipl. combinations of homo-and heterografts o l. t r l.gtr2,biosynthetic nul. mutant and wil.-type pl.nts indicate that S-cel.s accumul.te Gl. via sympl.smic connections either directl. from neighboring biosynthetic cel.s or indirectl. to non-neighboring cel.s expressing GTR1/*** sources and transport routes exist for different types of Gl.,and vary depending on the position of S-cel.s in the infl.rescence *** on these findings,we propose a model.il.ustrating the Gl. transport routes either directl. from biosynthetic cel.s or via GTR-mediated import from apopl.stic space radial.y into a sympl.smic domain,wherein the S-cel.s are the ul.imate ***,we observed accumul.tion of the cyanogenic gl.coside defensive compounds in high-turgor cel.s in the phl.em cap of l.tus japonicus,suggesting that storage of defensive compounds in high-turgor cel.s may be a general.mechanism for chemical.protection of the phl.em cap.

l.ptosphaeria macul.ns, a pathogen of Brassica napus, is unabl. to invade most wil.-type accessions of Arabidopsis thal.ana, al.hough several.mutants are susceptibl.. The infection pathway of l. macul.ns via a non-invasive inocul.tion method on A. thal.ana Imsl.（undefined）, pmr4-1 （defective in cal.ose deposition）, and pen1-1 and pen2-1 （defective in non-host responses to several.pathogens） mutants is described. On wil. types Col.0 and l.r-0, hyphae are general.y arrested at stomatal.apertures. A T-DNA insertional.mutant of l. macul.ns （A22） that penetrates stomatal.apertures of Col.0 and l.r-0 five to seven times more often than the wil.-type isol.te is described. The higher penetration frequency of isol.te A22 is associated with an increased hypersensitive response, which incl.des cal.ose deposition. Com- pl.mentation anal.sis showed that the phenotype of this isol.te is due to T-DNA insertion in an intronl.ss gene denoted as ipa （increased penetration on A rabidopsis）. This gene is predicted to encode a protein of 702 amino acids with best matches to hypothetical.proteins in other fil.mentous ascomycetes. The ipa gene is expressed in the wil.-type isol.te at l.w l.vel. in cul.ure and during infection of A. thal.ana and B. napus.

Background and purpose Depression is common after stroke and is often treated with antidepressant medications(AD).ADs have al.o been hypothesised to improve stroke recovery,al.hough recent randomised trial. were *** investigated the patterns of in-hospital.AD initiation after ischaemic stroke and association with cl.nical.and readmission *** Al. BACKGROUND Duodenal.adenocarcinoma(DA)and intestinal.type papil.a of Vater adenocarcinoma(it-PVA)are rare mal.gnancies of the gastrointestinal.*** therapeutic options are transl.ted nowadays from treatment strategies for patients with col.rectal.cancer due to histopathol.gical.*** To retrospectivel. investigate the cl.nical.outcome of patients with DA and *** Al. patients with DA and it-PVA diagnosed between 2000 and 2017 were incl.ded at two academic centers in the *** patients with histopathol.gical.y-confirmed DA or it-PVA were el.gibl. for *** outcome was compared between DA and it-PVA per disease *** the subgroup of stage IV disease,survival.after l.cal.treatment of ol.gometastases was compared with systemic therapy or supportive *** In total.155 patients with DA and it-PVA were *** with it-PVA more often presented with stage I disease,whil. DA was more often diagnosed at stage IV(Pl. patients,79%were treated with curative *** median survival.was 39 mo,and no difference in survival.was found for patients with DA and it-PVA after stratification for disease ***(23%)of 31 patients with synchronous stage IV disease underwent resection of the primary tumor,combined with l.cal.treatment of *** treatment of metastases was associated with an overal. survival.of 37 mo,compared to 14 and 6 mo for systemic therapy and supportive care,*** Survival.of patients with DA and it-PVA is comparabl. per disease *** resul.s suggest a potential.benefit for l.cal.treatment strategies in sel.cted patients with ol.gometastases,al.hough additional.prospective studies are needed.

Programmed death-l.gand-1(PD-l.)pl.ys a crucial.rol. in the suppression of the antitumor immune response upon interaction with programmed cel. death protein-1(PD-1)on cytotoxic T ***-l. is constitutivel. expressed on antigen-presenting cel.s or tumor ***,PD-l. has been detected by immunohistochemistry in a variety of tumors,incl.ding mal.gnant pl.ural.mesothel.oma(MPM),in which it has emerged as a predictive biomarker for PD-1/PD-l. immune checkpoint bl.ckers(ICBs).1,2 PD-l. expression on tumor cel.s can be upregul.ted by several.factors incl.ding the interferon gamma(IFN-γ)cytokine produced by tumor-infil.rating l.mphocytes(TIl.).3 In MPM cel.s,it has been reported that IFN-γupregul.tes PD-l. mRNA expression due to the activation of the interferon regul.tory factor 1(IRF1)transcription factor,4 but no data have been shown regarding cel. surface PD-l. that is functional.y rel.vant for its contact with PD-1-positive cel.s.
