Angiosperms sexual reproduction involves interactions between the two female gametes in the embryo sac and the two male gametes released by the pollen tube. The two synergids of the embryo sac express the FERONIA/SIRENE receptor-like kinase, which controls the discharge of the two sperm cells from the pollen tube. FER/SRN may respond to a ligand from the pollen tube. Alternatively, the interaction between FER/SRN and a ligand from the embryo sac may lead to a state of competence of the synergids allowing pollen tube discharge. Here, we report the new mutant scylla （syl） impaired in the control of pollen tube discharge. This mutant also produces autonomous endosperm development in ab- sence of fertilization--a trait associated with the FERTILIZATION INDEPENDENT SEED （FIS） mutant class. This led us to iden- tify autonomous endosperm in srn mutants and to demonstrate synergistic interactions between srn and the fis mutants. In addition, the fis mutants display defects in pollen tube discharge as in srn and syl mutants, confirming the interaction between the two pathways. Our findings suggest that pollen tube discharge is controlled by an interaction between the synergids expressing SRN/FER and the central cell expressing FIS genes.

The 17q12-21 locus harboring ORMDL sphingolipid biosynthesis regulator 3(ORMDL3)and Gasdermin b(GSDMb)genes exhibits one of the most significant and replicated associations with asthma[MIM:600807](Stein et al.,2018).Several studies explored the complex interactions between SNPs,gene expression and epigenetic modifications at this locus,primarily focusing on the levels of expressed ORMDL3 and GSDMb(Stein et al.,2018).Given that DNA methylation and gene expression signals are cell-type specific(Reinius et al.,2012),isolated materials such as lymphocytes from blood and,to a lesser extent,bronchial epithelial cells from biopsies of bronchi or bronchoalveolar lavages have been used in a number of studies to investigate such interactions(Stein et al.,2018).

Phytate:impact on environment and human nutrition.A challenge for molecular breeding

Phytic acid (PA) is the primary storage compound of phosphorus in seeds accounting for up to 80% of the total seed phosphorus and contributing as much as 1.5% to the seed dry weight. The negatively charged phosphate in PA strongly binds to metallic cations of Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Mn and Zn making them insoluble and thus unavailable as nutritional factors. Phytate mainly accumulates in protein storage vacuoles as globoids, predominantly located in the aleurone layer (wheat, barley and rice) or in the embryo (maize). During germination, phytate is hydrolysed by endogenous phytase(s) and other phosphatases to release phosphate, inositol and micronutrients to support the emerging seedling. PA and its derivatives are also implicated in RNA export, DNA repair, signalling, endocytosis and cell vesicular trafficking. Our recent studies on purification of phytate globoids, their mineral composition and dephytinization by wheat phytase will be discussed. biochemical data for purified and characterized phytases isolated from more than 23 plant species are presented, the dephosphorylation pathways of phytic acid by different classes of phytases are compared, and the application of phytase in food and feed is discussed.

The Effects of Gamma Irradiation on Molecular Weight, Morphology and Physical Properties of PHbV/Cloisite 30b bionanocomposites

In this paper,the effects of gamma irradiation on Cast poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate)(PHbV)and PHbV/Cloisite 30b(C30b)(3 wt%)bionanocomposite prepared by melt compounding,were evaluated at various doses,i.e.,5,15,20,50 and 100 kGy at room temperature in *** in molecular weight,morphology and physical properties were *** study showed that the main degradation mechanism occurring in gamma irradiation in both Cast PHbV and C-PHbV/3C30b bionanocomposite is chain scission,responsible for the decrease of molecular *** scanning calorimetry(DSC)data indicated a regular decrease in crystallization temperature,melting temperature and crystallinity index for all irradiated samples with increasing the ***,DSC thermograms of both Cast PHbV and PHbV bionanocomposite exhibited double melting peaks due probably to changes in the PHbV crystal *** and DMA data showed a reduction in Young’s modulus,strength,elongation at break and storage modulus with the radiation dose;the decrease was however more pronounced for Cast *** morphological damages were much less pronounced for the PHbV bionanocomposite sample compared to Cast PHbV,for which some irregularities and defects were observed at 100 *** study highlighted the ability of C30b to counterbalance the detrimental effect of radiolytic degradation on the functional properties of PHbV up to 100 kGy,thus acting as a potential anti-rad.

We want to conclude on the interest of the “crimping” process used to produce the glass wool and to make a comparison for anisotropic factor obtained from structural property (air permeability) as well as thermal property (thermal conductivity and diffusivity). The main structural (densities, porosity, specific surface, air permeability) and the thermal (conductivity, diffusivity, heat capacity) characteristics of this glass wool are presented. Thermal results are determined by using several methods (Hot disc (HD), Heat Flow Meter (HFM) and Guarded Hot Plate).

Effects of Cereal Malts Used as Improver on Physico-Chemical, Nutritional and Sensory Characteristics of Wheat and Millet Composites breads

The aim of this study was to optimize composite breads of wheat and whole millet flour by the use of natural improvers. Three types of local malted cereals were used as natural improvers. The millet flour was fermented with EPSs producing LAb strain prior to use. The technological characteristics of the composite flours were determined using an alveograph. The physico-chemical and nutritional characteristics of the composite breads were determined using standard methods and their sensory profiles were evaluated by a panel of 35 consumers. The alveograph results showed an increase in dough resistance, deformation and a decrease in extensibility and elasticity with the level of incorporation of millet flour. From the results of physico-chemical analyses of composite breads, no significant difference (p > 0.05) was observed in the use of the three types of local cereal malts except for the incorporation of 50% of the millet flour. The control sample presented the lowest acidity and dry matter value, the highest water content and pH value. No significant difference (p > 0.05) was observed in the use of the three types of cereal malts for the macronutrient contents of the composite bread samples. However, differences were observed according to the levels of incorporation. Macronutrients results showed an increase in protein content (11.17% ± 0.28% - 14.01% ± 0.10%/DM);crude fat content (1.86% ± 0.05% - 2.48% ± 0.20%/DM) and a decrease in carbohydrates content (85.36% ± 0.54% - 81.06% ± 0.36%/ DM). Regarding the content of mineral elements, significant differences (p bserved in the use of the three types of cereal malts for the incorporation of 15% (Mg and Fe content), 30% (Fe, Zn and K) and 50% (content of Zn, K, Na and Mg) of millet flour. The free amino acid profile revealed three essential amino acids such as valine, isoleucine and lysine. breads incorporated with 30% of whole millet flour were the most appreciated by consumers.
