Experimental Design Technique on Removal of Hydrogen Sulfide using CaO-eggshells Dispersed onto Palm Kernel Shell Activated Carbon：Experiment,Optimization,Equilibrium and Kinetic Studies

This study presents the use of chicken eggshells waste utilizing palm kernel shell based activated carbon（PKSAC） through the modification of their surface to enhance the adsorption capacity of H2S. Response surface methodology technique was used to optimize the process conditions and they were found to be： 500 mg/L for H2S initial concentration, 540 min for contact time and 1 g for adsorbent mass. The impacts of three arrangement factors（calcination temperature of impregnated activated carbon（IAC）, the calcium solution concentration and contact time of calcination） on the H2S removal efficiency and impregnated AC yield were investigated. Both responses IAC yield（IACY, %） and removal efficiency（RE, %） were maximized to optimize the IAC preparation conditions. The optimum preparation conditions for IACY and RE were found as follows： calcination temperature of IAC of 880 ℃, calcium solution concentration of 49.3% and calcination contact time of 57.6 min, which resulted in 35.8% of IACY and 98.2% RE. In addition, the equilibrium and kinetics of the process were investigated. The adsorbent was characterized using TGA, XRD, FTIR, SEM/EDX, and BET. The maximum monolayer adsorption capacity was found to be 543.47 mg/g. The results recommended that the composite of PKSAC and Ca O could be a useful material for H2S containing wastewater treatment.

With the help of network densification,network coverage as well as the throughput can be improved via ultra-dense networks(UDNs).In tandem,Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)communications have recently garnered much attention because of their high agility as well as widespread *** this paper,a cognitive UAV is proposed for wireless nodes power pertaining to the IoT ground ***,the UAV is included in the IoT system as the source of power for the wireless nodes as well as for resource *** quality of service(QoS)related to the cognitive node was considered as a utility function based on pricing scheme that was modelled as a non-cooperative game theory in order to maximise users’net utility ***,an energy efficiency non-cooperative game theory power allocation with pricing scheme(EE-NGPAP)is proposed to obtain an efficient power control within IoT wireless ***,uniqueness and existence of the Nash equilibrium have been demonstrated mathematically and through *** results show that the proposed energy harvest algorithm demonstrated considerable decrease in transmitted power consumption in terms of average power reduction,which is regarded to be apt with the 5Gnetworks’***,the proposed algorithm requires around 4 iterations only to converge to NE which makes the algorithm more suitable in practical heterogeneous scenarios.

An assessment of the concentrations of particulate polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the aftermath of a chemical store fire incident

PM 10 airborne particles and soot deposit collected after a fire incident at a chemical store were analyzed in order to determine the concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs). The samples were extracted with 1∶1 hexane-dichloromethane by ultrasonic agitation. The extracts were then subjected to gas chromatography-mass spectrometric(GC-MS) analysis. The total PAHs concentrations in airborne particles and soot deposit were found to be 3.27±1.55 ng/m 3 and 12.81±24.37 μg/g, respectively. Based on the molecular distributions of PAHs and the interpretation of their diagnostic ratios such as PHEN/(PHEN + ANTH), FLT/(FLT + PYR) and BeP/(BeP + BaP), PAHs in both airborne particles and soot deposit may be inferred to be from the same source. The difference in the value of IP/(IP + BgP) for these samples indicated that benzo[g,h,i]perylene and coronene tend to be attached to finer particles and reside in the air for longer periods. Comparison between the molecular distributions of PAHs and their diagnostic ratios observed in the current study with those reported for urban atmospheric and roadside soil particles revealed that they are of different sources.

Investigation of Phase Inversion of Liquid-Liquid Dispersions in Agitated Vessels

In this paper we report results from on-going theoretical and experimental studies carried out jointly at Imperial College London and University College London. Laser-induced fluorescence （LIF） is used to investigate liquid-liquid phase inversion experimentally and to observe in detail phenomena that accompany the inversion process, such as secondary dispersions and drop coalescence and breakup. Theoretically, a two-region model together with a criterion based on a dynamic balance between drop coalescence and breakup is employed to predict phase inversion. The concept of a radial distribution function for hard spheres was also utilized in order to better model the interaction of drops at high dispersed phase holdup, The modeling work is capable of predicting the existence of ambivalent ranges which are in good agreement with experimental observations.

In this paper we first explore what scholarship of teaching (SoT), shared governance and change management means, both in terms of the way that is represented in the literature and the way that is understood by academic staff themselves. From this information we derive qualitative and quantitative interpretation which captures the variations found in the literature and empirical studies. In the final section we illustrate how the state of readiness in the three areas is in place for the development of the SoT, shared governance, and change management in University X.

Wireless sensor networks(WSNs)have gotten a lot of attention as useful tools for gathering *** energy problem has been a fundamental constraint and challenge faced by many WSN applications due to the size and cost constraints of the sensor *** paper proposed a data fusion model based on the back propagation neural network(BPNN)model to address the problem of a large number of invalid or redundant *** three layeredbased BPNNs and a TEEN threshold,the proposed model describes the cluster structure and filters out unnecessary *** the information transmission process,the neural network’s output function is used to deal with a large amount of sensing data,where the feature value of sensing data is extracted and transmitted to the sink *** terms of life cycle,data traffic,and network use,simulation results show that the proposed data fusion model outperforms the traditional TEEN *** a result,the proposed scheme increases the life cycle of the network thereby lowering energy usage and traffic.
