Background:High epilepsy prevalence and incidence have been reported in areas with high onchocerciasis *** findings suggest that proper community-directed treatment with ivermectin(CDTi)is potentially able to prevent onchocerciasis-associated epilepsy(OAE).We assessed the epilepsy prevalence and onchocerciasis transmission in two Nigerian villages following more than 20 years of ***:A cross-sectional door-to-door survey was performed in two villages in the imo River Basin reported to be mesoendomic for onchocerciasis(Umuoparaodu and Umuezeala).individuals were screened for epilepsy using a validated 5-item *** suspected to have epilepsy were examined by a neurologist or a physician with training in epilepsy for *** was investigated via skin snip microscopy and rapid diagnostic tests for Ov16 *** were compared with previous findings from the imo river ***:A total of 843 individuals from 257 households in the two villages were *** detected four persons with epilepsy(PWE)giving a crude epilepsy prevalence of 0.5%.This finding differs from observations reported 14 years ago which showed an epilepsy prevalence of 2.8%in the neighbouring village of Umulolo(P=0.0001),and 1.2%from 13 villages in the imo river basin(P=0.07).The seroprevalence of Ov16 antibodies was found to be 0%.Only 4.6%of skin snips were positive compared to 26.8%in previous surveys(Pivermectin mass distribution coverage in the study sites in 2017 was 79.7%.Conclusions:A low epilepsy and onchocerciasis prevalence was observed following more than 20 years of CDTi in the imo River *** of Ov16 antibodies indicates minimal transmission of *** results contrast with observations from areas of high onchocerciasis transmission,where epilepsy prevalence and incidence remain *** from this study suggest that sustained efforts could eventually achieve elimination of onch

Hybrid Optimization Algorithm for Resource Allocation in LTE-Based D2D Communication

in a cellular network,direct Device-to-Device(D2D)communication enhances Quality of Service(QoS)in terms of coverage,throughput and amount of power *** theD2D pairs involve cellular resources for communication,the chances of interference are high.D2D communications demand minimum interference along with maximum throughput and sum rate which can be achieved by employing optimal resources and efficient power allocation *** this research,a hybrid optimization model called Genetic Algorithm-Adaptive Bat Optimization(GA-ABO)algorithm is proposed for efficient resource allocation in a cellular network with D2D *** analysis demonstrates that the proposed model involves reduced interference with maximum sum rate and *** performance of the proposed model is compared with the existing Ant Colony Optimization-based resource exchange and GAME(ACO-GAME)theory models,Trader-assistedResource EXchange mechanism-RadioAccess Network(TREX-RAN)and De-centralized Radio Access Network(TREXDRAN),and greedy CYcle-Complete preferences(CYC)*** proposed model offers a maximum sum rate of 83 kB/s,which is much better than the existing techniques.

Spousal communication, fertility preference and other factors affecting contraceptive use among married couples in Ekiti State, Nigeria

Objective:To assess and compare the relationship between spousal communication,fertility preference,and other factors with contraceptive use among married couples in Ekiti State,***:This cross-sectional study was carried out in AdoEkiti Local Government Area of Ekiti State,Nigeria between the 12th of August 2017 and the 15th of February 2018.A pre-tested,semi-structured interviewer-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from 976 respondents by a multi-stage sampling *** were analyzed(univariate,bivariate,and binary logistic regression analysis)using SPSS version *** that showed statistical significance(Pincluded in a binary logistic regression to determine significant predictors of contraceptive ***:The proportion of respondents currently using contraceptives was 56.9%.The education status of the respondents revealed that those with primary education were more likely to use contraceptives than those without formal education[adjusted odds ratio(aOR)8.4,95%confidence interval(Ci)1.97-36.2,Pith fair spousal communication were more likely to use contraceptive than those with poor communication(aOR 4.9,95%Ci 2.80-8.71,Pin addition,fertility preference of 4 or less children was found to be significantly associated with contraceptive use(aOR 3.0,95%Ci 1.67-5.50,Pikely to use contraceptives than those in the rural setting(aOR 1.7,95%Ci 1.16-2.41,P=0.047).Conclusions:Educational status,residential site,spousal communication,and fertility preference significantly influence the level of contraceptive use among married *** should endeavor to discuss more on issues bordering on their fertility preference and contraceptive *** should formulate policies to improve the rural uptake of contraceptives using identified target interventions.

Simultaneous Waveform inverse Modelling for Litho-Fluid Prediction in an Old Marginal, “Agbbo”Field, Onshore Niger Delta, Nigeria

Simultaneous waveform inversion was used to predict lithofacies and fluid type across the field. Very often, characterizing reservoirs in terms of lithology and fluid type using conventional methods is replete with uncertainties, especially in marginal fields. An approach is employed in this study that integrated rock physics and waveform inverse modelling for lithology and fluid-type characterization to appropriately identify potential hydrocarbon saturated zones and their corresponding lithology. Seismic and well-log data were analyzed using Hampson Russel software. The method adopted includes lithofacies and fluid content analysis using rock physics parameters and seismic simultaneous inverse modelling. Rock physics analysis identified 2 broad reservoirs namely: HDZ1 and HDZ2 reservoirs. Results from the inverse modelling showed that low values of acoustic impedance from 19,743 to 20,487 (ft/s)(g/cc) reflect hydrocarbon-bearing reservoirs while medium to high values shows brine and shale respectively, with brine zone ranging from 20,487 to 22,531 (ft/s)(g/cc) and shale above 22,531 (ft/s)(g/cc). Two lithofacies were identified from inversion analysis of Vp/Vs and Mu-Rho, namely: sand and shale with VpVs 1.95 values respectively. Mu-Rho > 12.29 (GPa)(g/cc) and ively. From 3D volume, it was observed that a high accumulation of hydrocarbon was observed to be saturated at the north to the eastern part of the field forming a meandering channel. Sands were mainly distributed around the northeastern to the southwestern part of the field, that tends to be away from Well 029. This was also validated by the volume of rigidity modulus (Mu-Rho) showing high values indicating sands fall within the northeastern part of the field.

设计了一种类似于手指的末端执行器结构,包含3个“关节”,由邵氏硬度为83 A的热塑性弹性体(TPE)3D打印而成。因成型温度等因素对材料结构参数的影响,通过拉伸试验获取应力应变曲线,计算出基于Mooney-Rivlin模型下当前材料参数C_(10)、C_(01),籍此有限元软件仿真分析其弯曲性能,进行弯曲性能试验对比分析有限元仿真结果。搭建试验台架进行抓取试验,有效抓取0~100 g范围内的试验物体。

Clinical and laboratory profile in confirmed vs. suspected septic arthritis patients and its relevance in decision making: A comparative cross-sectional study

Geo-spatial Analysis of the impacts of Urbanization-induced Activities on Soil Quality in Port Harcourt Metropolis,Rivers State-Nigeria

Evaluation and Optimization of Tensile Strength Responses of Coir Fibres Reinforced Polyester Matrix Composites (CFRP) Using Taguchi Robust Design

in this study, control factors which included aspect ratio of fibres, volume fraction of fibres and fibres orientation were the focus for determining the optimum tensile strengths of coir fibres reinforced polyester resin composites. After using Archimedes principle to determine the volume fraction of fibres, tensile test was conducted on the samples of treated and untreated coir fibres reinforced polyester resin composites, respectively. For the optimum properties to be obtained, a Universal Testing Machine-TUE-C-100 was used for the conducted tensile tests which established the levels of control factors settings for quality characteristics needed to optimize the mechanical properties being investigated. Applying Taguchi robust design technique for the greater-the-better, the highest signal-to-noise ratio (S/N ratio) for the quality characteristics being investigated was obtained employing Minitab 16 software. The optimum values of the control factors were established for treated coir fibres reinforced polyester resin composites and untreated coir fibres reinforced polyester resin composites. The treated coir fibres reinforced polyester matrix composite has the optimum tensile strength of 42.7 N/mm2 while the untreated coir fibres reinforced matrix composite has the optimum tensile strength of 21.9 N/mm2. The reinforcement combinations of control factors contribute greatly to the tensile properties, and the treated coir fibres reinforced polyester composites are stronger in tension than the untreated coir fibres reinforced polyester composites.
