Sunitinib is an orally adm.nistered, m.lti-target tyrosine kinase inhibitor that has been approved by the FDA for the treatm.nt of renal cell carcinom. and im.tinib resistant gastro-intestinal tum.rs. Anti-leukem.c activity of sunitinib has been exam.ned in early clinical trials with lim.ted success. However, recent trials on acute m.eloid leukem.a (Am.) patients carrying FLT3 m.tations have shown prom.sing results. Effects of sunitinib on leukem.c clonogenic cells and potential leukem.c stem.cells have not been exam.ned so far. We analyzed the anti-proliferative and apoptotic properties of sunitinib on Am.-derived cell lines. We also tested the effect of sunitinib on Am. patient derived clonogenic cells (Am.-CFC), as well as flow-sorted potential leukem.c progenitors. Peripheral blood or bone m.rrow sam.les were obtained from.newly diagnosed Am. patients and flow sorted for CD34+ CD133+ or ALDH+ cells. Um.ilical cord blood derived CD34+ cells were used as norm.l controls. Sunitinib induced growth arrest and apoptosis in Am. derived cell lines. In addition, 7 μm.sunitinib induced 75% reduction of Am.-CFC as com.ared to Dm.O treated control (±6.79%;n = 4). In contrast, 7 μm.sunitinib treatm.nt of um.ilical cord blood derived norm.l CD34+ cells showed 29% reduction in Am.-CFC (±6.77%;n = 5). Treatm.nt of ALDH+ cells sorted from.2 Am. cases and CD34+ CD133+ cells from.one patient showed reduction of Am.-CFC on treatm.nt with sunitinib. Our study highlighted a potent anti-proliferative and proapoptotic effect of sunitinib on Am. cell lines, Am. patient derived clonogenic cells and potential leukem.c stem.cells.

Background:Following recent findings from.our group that curcum.n preconditioning augm.nts the therapeutic efficacy of adipose-derived stem.cells in the healing of diabetic wounds in rats,we aim.d to investigate the regenerative effects of curcum.n preconditioned adipose-derived m.senchym.l stem.cells(ASCs)for better recovery of acid inflicted burns in this ***:ASCs were preconditioned with 5μm.curcum.n for 24 hours and assessed for proliferation,m.gration,paracrine release potential and gene expression com.arative to naive ***,the healing capacity of curcum.n preconditioned ASCs(Cur-ASCs)versus naive ASCs was exam.ned using acidic wounds in *** this,acid inflicted burns of 20 m. in diam.ter were m.de on the back of m.le Wistar ***,2×10^(6) cells of Cur-ASCs and naive ASCs were intraderm.lly injected in the wound periphery(n=6)for com.arison with an untreated saline ***-transplantation,wounds were m.croscopically analysed and photographed to evaluate the percentage of wound closure and period of *** wound biopsies were excised and used for histological evaluation and expression analysis of wound healing m.rkers at m.lecular level by quantitative PCR and western ***:We found that Cur-ASCs exhibited greater proliferation,m.gration and paracrine potential in ***,Cur-ASCs showed m.re effective recovery than naive ASCs as exhibited by gross m.rphology,faster wound closure and earlier ***’s trichrom. and hem.toxylin and eosin staining dem.nstrated the im.roved architecture of the healing burns,as evidenced by reduced infiltration of inflam.atory cells,com.act collagen and m.rked granulation in Cur-ASC treated *** these findings,m.lecular assessm.nt showed significantly reduced expressions of pro-inflam.atory factors(interleukin-1 beta,interleukin-6,tum.r necrosis factor alpha)a with striking upsurge of an oxidative m.rker(superoxide dism.tase 1),p

Polym.ric-inorganic nanocom.osite catalysts were synthesized by facile one-pot chem.cal polym.rization of pyrrole in the presence of titanium.dioxide nanoparticles. The electrical, optical, photovoltaic perform.nce of dye sensitized solar cell（DSSC） and visible light driven photocatalytic activities of the nanocom.osite were investigated. The prepared nanocom.osite displays excellent photo-activity, attaining 100% degradation of m.thyl orange dye in 60 m.n under visible light source while 55% for pure TiO_2 under sim.lar experim.ntal conditions. The photovoltaic perform.nce of the polypyrrole-titanium.dioxide（PPy-TiO_2） nanocom.osite has a 51.4% im.rovem.nt with a photo-conversion efficiency of 8.07% as com.ared to pure TiO_2 based DSSC. By com.aring the physical m.xture of the PPy-TiO_2 nanocom.osite and pristine TiO_2, the enhanced activity of the PPy-TiO_2 nanocom.osite can be attributed to the reduced charge transfer resistance, outstanding electrical conductance of the PPy, the nano-sized structure of TiO_2 and their synergetic effect. Furtherm.re, the PPy-TiO_2 nanocom.osite shows excellent electrical conductivity and isotherm.l stability under am.ient conditions below 110？C.

To m.tigate scour around bridge piers, sacrificial piles are econom.c m.thod where natural processes are involved. The arrangem.nt should be such that scoured m.terials from.the sacrificial piles should have enough volum. to fill the scour hole created upstream.of the pier in such a way that sedim.nts are trapped inside the scour hole. This concept differs from.earlier study m.de with sacrificial piles that m.inly deals to reduce the strength of horseshoe vortex. To determ.ne the effect of sacrificial piles for scour m.tigation, alternative arrangem.nts of piles were tested in front of a rectangular pier under clear-water condition and found that when the group of piles is placed at a distance of twice the projected width of the pier, for which percentage of blockage of the pier width is 60%, the scour volum. can be reduced upto 61% while the m.xim.m.scour depth can be reduced upto 50%.

Heat transfer analysis in the flow of Walters' B fluid with a convective boundary condition

Radiative heat transfer in the steady two-dim.nsional flow of Walters＇ B fluid with a non-uniform.heat source/sink is investigated. An incom.ressible fluid is bounded by a stretching porous surface. The convective boundary condition is used for the therm.l boundary layer problem. The relevant equations are first sim.lified under usual boundary layer assum.tions and then transform.d into a sim.lar form.by suitable transform.tions. Explicit series solutions of velocity and tem.erature are derived by the hom.topy analysis m.thod （HAm.. The dim.nsionless velocity and tem.erature gradients at the wall are calculated and discussed.

Phase analysis of AlFe2B2 by synchrotron X-ray diffraction,m.gnetic and m.ssbauer studies

The structural and m.gnetic properties of essentially phase pure AlFe2B2prepared by arc m.lting were com.ared with a sam.le containing im.urities. Analysis was carried out by m.ans of synchrotron X-ray diffraction, m.gnetic m.asurem.nts and m.ssbauer spectroscopy. The analysis of synchrotron X-ray diffraction data confirm.d the orthorhom.ic structure of space group Cm.m.for AlFe2B2with Al13Fe4as m.in im.urity phase. The m.gnetic m.asurem.nts revealed an unsaturated ferrom.gnetic state in AlFe2B2with a transition tem.erature（Tc） of 286 K. Isotherm.l m.gnetization m.asurm.nt at 5 K gave a saturation m.gnetization of 0.7 μB per Fe atom.while Arrott plots establish the second order nature of ferrom.gnetic transition. The therm.l evolution of m.ssbauer spectra confirm.d the ferrom.gnetic nature of this m.terial revealing an hyperfine field of 73 kOe and an isom.r shift of 0.46 m./s at 100 K. The m.ssbauer spectra of a phase pure sam.le was com.ared with the one containing im.urity phases. It is suggested that the low tem.erature param.gnetic contribution in m.ssbauer spectra of phase pure m.terial m.y have its origin in som. intrinsic phenom.na arising from.defects or inhom.geneities in crystal structure.

A CFD study of the transport and fate of airborne droplets in a ventilated office:The role of droplet−droplet interactions

Previous studies reported that specially designed ventilation system. provide good air quality and safe environm.nt by rem.ving airborne droplets that contain viruses expelled by infected *** water droplets can be stable in the environm.nt and rem.in suspended in air for prolonged *** between droplets m.y occur and droplet interactions should be ***,the previous studies focused on other physical phenom.na(air flow,drag force,evaporation)for droplet transport and neglected droplet *** this work,we used com.utational fluid dynam.cs(CFD)to sim.late the transport and fate of airborne droplets expelled by an asym.tom.tic person and considered droplet *** drag with turbulence for prediction of transport and fate of droplets indicated that the turbulence increased the transport of 1μm.droplets,whereas it decreased the transport of 50μm.*** contrast to only considering drag and turbulence,consideration of droplet interactions tended to increase both the transport and *** the length scale of the office is m.ch larger than the droplet sizes,the droplet interactions,which occurred at the initial stages of release when droplet separation distances were shorter,had a significant effect in droplet fate by considerably m.nipulating the final locations on surfaces where droplets ***,it is proposed that when an exact prediction of transport and fate is required,especially for high droplet concentrations,the effects of droplet interactions should not be ignored.

Lax Pairs and Integrability Conditions of Higher-Order Nonlinear Schrdinger Equations

We derive the Lax pairs and integrability conditions of the nonlinear Schrdinger equation with higher-order term., com.lex potentials, and tim.-dependent coefficients. Cubic and quintic nonlinearities together with derivative term. are considered. The Lax pairs and integrability conditions for som. of the well-known nonlinear Schrdinger equations, including a new equation which was not considered previously in the literature, are then derived as special cases. We show m.st clearly with a sim.larity transform.tion that the higher-order term. restrict the integrability to linear potential in contrast with quadratic potential for the standard nonlinear Schrdinger equation.
