Control of Nozzle Flow Using Rectangular Ribs at Sonic and Supersonic mach Numbers

This study deals with base pressure management in a duct for various values of the mach number(m),namely,mach number corresponding to sonic and four supersonic *** addition to the mach number,the nozzle pressure ratio(NPR),the area ratio,the rib dimension,and the duct length are influential *** following specific values are examined at m=1,1.36,1.64,and 2,and NPRs between 1.5 and *** base pressure is determined by positioning ribs of varying heights at predetermined intervals throughout the length of the square *** the level of expansion is varied,it is seen that the base pressure initially drops for overexpanded flows and increases for under-expanded *** ribs are present,the flow field in the duct and pressure inside the duct fluctuate as the base pressure ***-expanded flows can achieve a base pressure value that is suitably high without experiencing excessive changes in the duct flow in terms of static pressure if a rib height around 10%of the duct height close to the nozzle exit is *** rib passive control does not negatively affect the duct’s flow field.

High Strain-Rate and Shock Response of Carbon SupercompositeTm

This study focuses on assessing the dynamic behaviors of carbon SupercompositeTm laminates when subjected to high strain-rates and air blast loads, using a shock tube for testing. The investigation aims to understand the response of these advanced materials under extreme conditions, which is crucial for applications in aerospace, military, and other high-performance industries. SupercompositeTm (CZE) prepreg, made up of a 3K plain weave carbon fabric with milled carbon fibers as interlaminar reinforcements impregnated with epoxy, is used to create SupercompositeTm (CZE) laminates. A woven carbon composite (CBE) laminate was also created using 3K plain weave Carbon/Epoxy (CBE) prepreg. Both types of laminates were designed and fabricated using the autoclave process. The dynamic behaviors of CZE and CBE laminate under transverse compression loads were evaluated using a modified Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB). The study found that the 3D reinforcement with milled carbon fibers significantly affected the dynamic behavior of the CZE laminate. Stereo imaging videos, captured using two SHImADZU high-speed video cameras in shock tube experiments, recorded the time history of back surface deflection. The plate specimens exhibited low deflections without any visible damage. The experimentally observed center point deflections of the CZE plates decayed sooner than those of the CBE laminates, indicating an improvement in damping due to the presence of 3D reinforced milled carbon fibers. This research shows that optimized utilization of milled carbon fibers as 3D reinforcement can withstand high stress in the thickness direction and higher energy absorption when subjected to impact and high strain-rate loading.

Fucoxanthin suppresses OxLDL-induced inflammation via activation of Nrf2 and inhibition of NF-κB signaling

Objective:To explore the impact of fucoxanthin on oxidized low-density lipoprotein(OxLDL)-induced stress and inflammation in human endothelial cells and its underlying ***:HUVECs were treated with OxLDL and/or fucoxanthin for a range of time points and *** evaluated the effects of fucoxanthin on OxLDL-induced HUVECs using the mTT assay,reactive oxygen species accumulation assay,ELISA,RT-PCR,immunofluorescence,and Western ***:Fucoxanthin enhanced the cell viability in a dose dependent manner after OxLDL ***,fucoxanthin pretreatment significantly decreased OxLDL-induced reactive oxygen species production and prevented the activation of the nuclear factor kappa-B pathway,which led to substantial suppression of pro-inflammatory gene ***-induced upregulation of interleukin-6,intercellular adhesion molecule-1,vascular cell adhesion molecule-1,interleukin-1β,monocyte chemotactic protein-1,cyclooxygenase-1,and tumor necrosis factor-αwas significantly reduced by ***:Fucoxanthin can inhibit OxLDL-induced vascular inflammation and oxidative stress in HUVECs by targeting Nrf2 signaling pathways.

Fabrication of chitosan/silica hybrid coating on AZ31 mg alloy for orthopaedic applications

Biocompatible conversion of chitosan and chitosan/silica hybrid coating were prepared to enhance the biocompatibility and corrosion resistance of biodegradable AZ31 mg alloy. The coatings were optimized and analysed with potentiodynamic polarization, SEm, ATR-IR and XPS studies. Potentiodynamic polarization studies, revealed that the coatings exhibited high corrosion resistance. The surface morphology of the Ch-3/Si coating showed small globular rough structure. The presence of functional groups was confirmed by ATR-IR. For a better understanding of chitosan/silica hybrid coating, the chemical states were examined by XPS studies. The in-vitro bioactivity of the coated samples was evaluated in Earle’s solution, which formed a dense layer of coral-like structure and calcium-deficient apatite with less stoichiometric ratio than the hydroxyapatite. In-vitro cell culture studies exhibited a good cell proliferation rate and the fabricated Ch-3/Si coating was found to be non-hemolytic. The bacterial studies proved that Ch-3/Si coating possessed inherent antibacterial activity.

Effect of multilayer CrN/CrAlN coating on the corrosion and contact resistance behavior of 316L SS bipolar plate for high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell

Stainless steels have received wide attention as a substitute material for bipolar plates in high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cell(HT-PEmFC).In the present work,the CrN,CrAlN and multilayer CrN/CrAlN coatings were deposited on 316 L SS to increase the corrosion resistance and decrease the interfacial contact *** deposited coatings exhibited face centered cubic phase structure and it was verified from the X-ray diffraction pattern.X-ray photo electron spectroscopy results showed the formation of both CrN and CrAlN layers on 316 L ***/CrAlN coating is more helpful in water management due to low surface roughness and high contact angle in the HT-PEmFC *** corrosion resistance behavior of all the samples were studied in 85%H_(3)PO_(4)solution at 140℃purged with H_(2)(HT-PEmFC anode)and O_(2)(HT-PEmFC cathode)*** results showed that all the coatings considerably improved the performance of 316 L SS and superior corrosion resistance was observed for CrN/CrAlN multilayer coating,whose protective efficiency was 98.12%and 96.14%in the two simulated HT-PEmFC *** results of electrochemical impedance spectroscopic studies demonstrated higher impedance for CrN/CrAlN *** morphological studies performed after corrosion studies revealed that protection ability of CrN/CrAlN coating still remained acceptable.A very low interfacial contact resistance value of 6 mΩ cm^(2) at 140 N/cm;was observed for CrN/CrAlN ***,after corrosion studies,the interfacial contact resistance value of CrN/CrAlN coated 316 L was much lower than that of CrN and CrAlN coatings due to the increased oxidation *** maximum power density of about 0.93 W/cm^(2) at 2 A/cm^(2) and output voltage of 0.96 V was observed for CrN/CrAlN coating.

Diabetics is one of the world’s most common diseases which are caused by continued high levels of blood *** risk of diabetics can be lowered if the diabetic is found at the early *** recent days,several machine learning models were developed to predict the diabetic presence at an early *** this paper,we propose an embedded-based machine learning model that combines the split-vote method and instance duplication to leverage an imbalanced dataset called PImA Indian to increase the prediction of *** proposed method uses both the concept of over-sampling and under-sampling along with model weighting to increase the performance of *** measures such as Accuracy,Precision,Recall,and F1-Score are used to evaluate the *** results we obtained using K-Nearest Neighbor(kNN),Naïve Bayes(NB),Support Vector machines(SVm),Random Forest(RF),Logistic Regression(LR),and Decision Trees(DT)were 89.32%,91.44%,95.78%,89.3%,81.76%,and 80.38%*** SVm model is more efficient than other models which are 21.38%more than exiting machine learning-based works.

Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is a common and lifelong disabling gastrointestinal *** treatments are being developed to target inflammatory cytokines which initiate and perpetuate the immune *** is an important modulator of inflammation and its anti-inflammatory effects have been well established in humans as well as in animal *** extracellular adenosine suppresses and resolves chronic inflammation in IBD *** extracellular adenosine levels could be achieved by enhanced adenosine absorption and increased de novo *** adenosine concentration leads to activation of the A2a receptor on the cell surface of immune and epithelial cells that would be a potential therapeutic target for chronic intestinal inflammation. Adenosine is transported via concentrative nucleoside transporter and equilibrative nucleoside transporter transporters that are localized in apical and basolateral membranes of intestinal epithelial cells,respectively. Increased extracellular adenosine levels activate the A2a receptor,which would reduce cytokines responsible for chronic inflammation.

Tertiary and Quaternary marine Terraces and Planation Surfaces of Northern Oman:Interaction of Flexural Bulge migration Associated with the Arabian-Eurasian Collision and Eustatic Sea Level Changes

The northeastern Arabian passive margin is being subducted beneath the Zagros and makran of Iran. A flexural bulge related to the weight of the makran has migrated at 4 cm/a through the previously uplifted Hajar mountains of Oman as this active convergence and collision between Arabia and Eurasia progresses, adding approximately another 500 meters of relief, and forming a series of uplifted marine terraces, alluvial terraces, and planation surfaces that record the passage of the bulge. We use a combination of field studies, remote sensing and GIS to map and better-understand these terraces, and elucidate how the tectonics of bulge migration, down-to-trench normal faulting, and eustatic sea level changes have interacted to produce the extant geomorphic features on the inner slope of the flexural bulge as it sinks into the foredeep of the Gulf of Oman. We speculate those terraces that were uplifted on the outer slope of the forebulge as it initially migrated through the passive margin （affected by ophiolite obduction in the Cretaceous） 3.75-7.5 ma ago are now sinking on the inner slope of the forebulge （corresponding to the outer trench slope in the foredeep）, and have been partly covered by Quaternary marine terraces related to a Weichselian sea level high stand. Both the Tertiary and Quaternary terraces are cut by faults related to the active collision, confirming that there is a significant risk of moderate earthquakes in the region.
