This paper proposes a case study in the control of a heavy oil pyrolysis/cracking furnace with a newly extended U-model based pole placement controller(U-PPC). The major work of the paper includes: 1) establishing a control oriented nonlinear dynamic model with Naphtha cracking and thermal dynamics; 2) analysing a U-model(i.e., control oriented prototype) representation of various popular process model sets; 3)designing the new U-PPC to enhance the control performance in pole placement and stabilisation; 4) taking computational bench tests to demonstrate the control system design and performance with a user-friendly step by step procedure.

Background:Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection is a worldwide ***,the current treatment for hepatitis C has many ***-like receptors(TLRs)are pattern recognition receptors involved in HCV infection,and an increasing number of studies are focusing on the role of TLRs in the progression of hepatitis *** sources:We performed a Pub Med search up to January 2021 with the following keywords:hepatitis C,toll-like receptors,interferons,inflammation,and immune *** also used terms such as single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs),susceptibility,fibrosis,cirrhosis,direct-acting antiviral agents,agonists,and antagonists to supplement the query *** reviewed relevant publications analyzing the correlation between hepatitis C and TLRs and the role of TLRs in HCV ***:TLRs 1–4 and 6–9 are involved in the process of HCV *** the host is exposed to the HCV,TLRs,as important participants in HCV immune evasion,trigger innate immunity to remove the virus and also promote inflammation and liver *** gene SNPs affect hepatitis C susceptibility,treatment,and *** contribution of each TLR to HCV is *** targeting various TLRs are developed and validated,and TLRs can synergize with classic hepatitis C drugs,including interferon and direct-acting antiviral agents,constituting a new direction for the treatment of hepatitis ***:TLRs are important receptors in HCV *** TLRs induce different mechanisms of virus clearance and inflammatory *** TLR-related antiviral therapy strategies exist,more studies are needed to explore the clinical application of TLR-related drugs.

In this study,an extreme learning-based non-linear model predictive controller(NMPC)is proposed for path following planning of an autonomous underwater vehicle(AUV)using horizontal *** proposed controller comprises a kinematic controller and a dynamic *** kinematic controller is designed by using back-stepping approach whilst the dynamic controller is designed by employing the NMPC *** dynamics of the AUV is identified in real-time by employing an extreme learning machine(ELM)*** view of achieving improved performance of the ELM structure,its hidden layer parameters are optimally determined by applying Jaya optimisation *** resulting ELM model is then used to design a NMPC considering the constraint on rudder *** tracking performance of the proposed controller is compared with that of two recently reported control algorithms namely,H∞state feedback controller and inverse optimal self-tuning proportional-integral-derivative(PID)*** proposed controller is implemented using MATLAB and then in real-time on a prototype AUV developed in the authors’*** both the simulation and experimental results obtained,it is observed that the proposed controller exhibits superior tracking performance compared to both H∞state feedback controller and inverse optimal self-tuning PID controller.

Electroencephalography(EEG),helps to analyze the neuronal activity of a human brain in the form of electrical signals with high temporal resolution in the millisecond *** extract clean clinical information from EEG signals,it is essential to remove unwanted artifacts that are due to different causes including at the time of *** this piece of work,the authors considered the EEG signal contaminated with Electrocardiogram(ECG)artifacts that occurs mostly in cardiac *** clean EEG is taken from the openly available Mendeley database whereas the ECG signal is collected from the Physionet database to create artifacts in the EEG signal and verify the proposed *** the artifactual signal is non-linear and non-stationary the Random Vector Functional Link Network(RVFLN)model is used in this *** Machine Learning approach has taken a leading role in every field of current research and RVFLN is one of *** the proof of adaptive nature,the model is designed with EEG as a reference and artifactual EEG as *** peaks of ECG signals are evaluated for artifact estimation as the amplitude is higher than the EEG *** vary the weight and reduce the error,an exponentially weighted Recursive Least Square(RLS)algorithm is used to design the adaptive filter with the novel RVFLN *** random vectors are considered in this model with a radial basis function to satisfy the required signal *** is found that the result is excellent in terms of Mean Square Error(MSE),Normalized Mean Square Error(NMSE),Relative Error(RE),Gain in Signal to Artifact Ratio(GSAR),Signal Noise Ratio(SNR),Information Quantity(IQ),and Improvement in Normalized Power Spectrum(INPS).Also,the proposed method is compared with the earlier methods to show its efficacy.

We have analyzed the solar irradiance data from the Earth Radiation Budget Satellite （ERBS） during the time period from 1984 October 15 to 2003 October *** first filtering the data by Simple Exponential Smoothing,we have applied the periodogram method to the processed data in order to search for its time *** study exhibits multi-periodicities on these data around 110,118,574 and 740d with very high confidence levels （more than 99%）.These periods are significantly similar to the periods of other solar activities which may suggest that solar irradiance may be associated with other solar activities.

The decline or loss of traditional social- ecological systems may induce adverse effects to the societies and ecosystems. Transhumance, the recurring and seasonal movement of grazing livestock, is increasingly constrained by a numbers of factors including policy, land use and soeio-economic changes in Nepal. To explore how these changes have affected the transhumance, this study investigated transhumance at the Langtang valley in central Nepal. The specific objectives of this study were to determine the herd size and composition, spatial-temporal patterns and to identify the major drivers of the system and the system changes. Data were collected from field study comprising semi-structured interviews with the herders, focus group discussions, key informants survey, and observations of rangeland and livestock management systems. The study revealed that the transhumanee system in the Langtang is influenced by two types of drivers. In one hand, traditional practices are contributing to the sustainability of the system. On the other hand, the grazing patterns and adaptive responses are strongly influenced by changes in government policies, socioeconomic and cultural transformation, livestock productivity, markets, rangeland conditions and climate change. The findings of this study help with the development and implementation of transhumance management policy for the sustainability.

Realising the importance of pore fluid salinity on the dewatering behaviour of fine-grained porous systems,the present study systematically investigated such impacts on temporal moisture dynamics of kaolin subjected to evaporative dewatering.A detailed discussion is provided pertaining to the background processes dictating evaporative dewatering response and corresponding alterations in the dielectric behaviour of *** dependent dielectric spectra of soil,which can be considered as the fingerprint of the transient changes in the condition of water phase within the pore system of the soil and associated densification,are monitored in real time during dewatering using an open-ended coaxial probe with a vector network *** spatial sensitivity of the coaxial probe has been quantified through layered media *** the results of volume change behaviour of the material along with its moisture loss response,the study characterised the hydro-mechanical response of the material from the windows of frequency dependent dielectric spectroscopy.
