Evolution of Acquired Humoral Immunity after Full Vaccination against SARS-CoV-2. IgG Levels in Healthcare Workers at 6 and 9 Months

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic continues to be a major worldwide health problem. The present study aims to contribute to surveillance of the immune and clinical response of vaccines to SARS-CoV-2. Methods: Observational medication study on acquired immunity and effectiveness of vaccines. Population: 620 workers in the health service of Almansa (Spain). Representative sample of 150 individuals. Sociodemographic, clinical, and epidemiological data and samples were recorded to determine anti-SARS-CoV-2 serum IgG levels 6 and 9 months after vaccination with Pfizer. Results: Mean age 46.45 years;76% women;85.1% working in a hospital. 19.3% had had COVID-19 in the year prior to vaccination. 96.7% were fully vaccinated with Pfizer/BionTech. At 6 months, 100% seropositivity and mean IgG levels of 3017.2 AU/ml. Significant variations in IgG levels in individuals with prior COVID-19 infection and smokers. At 9 months, 99.3% remained seropositive;2.8% infected after vaccination. The repeated measures analysis showed a difference in means of 669.0 AU/ml (significant decrease in IgG levels of 28.9%). Conclusion: Antibody levels remained positive 6 and 9 months after vaccination, although IgG levels were found to decay.

An approximate Kerr-newman-like metric endowed with a magnetic dipole and mass quadrupole

Approximate all-terrain spacetimes for astrophysical applications are presented. The metrics possess five relativistic multipole moments, namely, mass, rotation, mass quadrupole, charge,and magnetic dipole moment. All these spacetimes approximately satisfy the Einstein-Maxwell field equations. The first metric is generated using the Hoenselaers-Perjés method from given relativistic multipoles. The second metric is a perturbation of the Kerr-newman metric, which makes it a relevant approximation for astrophysical calculations. The last metric is an extension of the Hartle-Thorne metric that is important for obtaining internal models of compact objects perturbatively. The electromagnetic field is calculated using Cartan forms for locally non-rotating observers. These spacetimes are relevant for inferring properties of compact objects from astrophysical observations. Furthermore, the numerical implementations of these metrics are straightforward, making them versatile for simulating potential astrophysical applications.

Sex-dependent resilience to extreme drought events: implications for climate change adaptation of a South American endangered tree species

Background Recent changes in climatic trends are resulting in an increased frequency and intensity of extreme events, with unknown effect on ecosystem dynamics in the near future. Extreme drought episodes are recognized as disturbance factors capable of modifying forest dynamics and tree growth. Within this context, dioecious tree species may be impacted by climatic extremes, affecting male/female proportions and, consequently, reproductive processes and species persistence. Therefore, there is an urgent need for species-specific assessments of growth tolerance to extreme dry spells in dioecious tree species, to establish effective conservation strategies for these particular natural resources. Araucaria araucana(araucaria), an endangered dioecious Patagonian tree species, has recently undergone decay and mortality episodes in response to increasing dry climatic conditions. While sex-dependent tolerance to extreme drought episodes has been assessed in the species' humid distribution range, there is still a lack of information on the gender-based resilience of trees growing in the drier environments of the species' *** We reconstructed, through dendrochronological methods, the sex-dependent response of 105 araucaria individuals(55 female and 50 male trees) to five regional extreme dry spells employing a set of different indices. Resistance, recovery period, and average growth reduction of standardized tree-ring growth were examined, analysing the effect of biotic(sex, pre-drought stem tree growth) and abiotic(local climatic conditions before, during, and after extreme climatic episodes) factors on tree *** Sex influences only the species resistance to climatic disturbance, with male individuals showing lower tolerance to extreme drought events. An application of 1D convolution and deep learning to remote sensing modelling of Secchi depth in the northern Adriatic Sea

This paper presents a novel approach for predicting the water quality indicator-Secchi disk depth(Z_(SD)).Z_(SD)indirectly reflects water clarity and serves as a proxy for other quality *** study utilizes Deep neural network(Dnn)trained on satellite remote sensing and measured data from three sources:two datasets obtained from official agencies in Croatia and Slovenia,and one citizen science data source,all covering the northern coastal region of the Adriatic *** proposed model uses 1D Convolutional neural network(Cnn)in the spectral dimension to predict Z_(SD).The model’s performance indicates a strong fit to the observed data,proving capability of 1D-Cnn to capture changes in water *** the test dataset,the model achieved a high R-squared value of 0.890,a low root mean squared error(RMSE)of 0.023 and mean absolute error(MAE)of *** results demonstrate that employing a 1D-Cnn in the spectral dimension of Sentinel-3 OLCI data is an effective approach for predicting water *** findings have significant implications for monitoring Z_(SD)in coastal *** integrating diverse data sources and leveraging advanced machine learning algorithms,a more accurate and comprehensive assessment of water quality can be achieved.
