Copper is a transition metal and an essential element for the organism,as alterations in its homeostasis leading to metal accumulation or deficiency have pathological effects in several organs,including the central nervous *** copper dysregulations have been evidenced in two genetic disorders characterized by mutations in the copper-ATPases ATP7A and ATP7B,Menkes disease and Wilson’s disease,respectively,and also in multifactorial neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease,Parkinson’s disease,amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,and multiple *** review summarizes current knowledge about the role of copper in central nervous system physiology and pathology,reports about unbalances in copper levels and/or distribution under disease,describes relevant animal models for human disorders where copper metabolism genes are dysregulated,and discusses relevant therapeutic approaches modulating copper ***,alterations in copper metabolism may contribute to the etiology of central nervous system disorders and represent relevant therapeutic targets to restore tissue homeostasis.

The gastrointestinal tract harbors a large number and diverse array of commensal bacteria and is an important entry site for *** these reasons,the intestinal immune system is uniquely dedicated to protect against infections,while avoiding the development of destructive inflammatory responses to the *** models have been proposed to explain how the immune system discriminates between,and appropriately responds to,commensal and pathogenic *** cells(DCs)and regulatory T cells(Treg)are instrumental in maintaining immune homeostasis and tolerance in the *** are virtually omnipresent and are remarkably plastic,having the ability to adapt to the influences of the *** DC populations with partially overlapping phenotypic and functional properties have been described in different anatomical *** in the draining mesenteric lymph nodes,in the intestinal lamina propria and in Peyer's patches partake both in the control of intestinal inflammation and in the maintenance of gut *** this respect,gutresident DCs and macrophages exert tolerogenic functions as they regularly encounter and sense commensal *** contrast,migrating DC subsets that are recruited to the gut as a result of pathogenic insults initiate immune ***,tolerogenic DCs act by promoting the differentiation and expansion of Treg cells that efficiently modulate gut inflammation,as shown both in preclinical models of colitis and in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).This article reviews the phenotypic and functional features of gut DC subsets and discusses the current evidence underpinning the DC contribution to the pathogenesis of the major clinical subtypes of human *** also addresses the potential clinical benefit derived from DC targeting either in vivo or in vitro.

The advent of genomic big data and the statistical need for reaching significant results have led genome-wide association studies to be ravenous of a huge number of genetic markers scattered along the whole *** its very beginning,the so-called genotype imputation served this purpose;this statistical and inferential procedure based on a known reference panel opened the theoretical possibility to extend association analyses to a greater number of polymorphic sites which have not been previously assayed by the used *** this review,we present a broad overview of the genotype imputation process,showing the most known methods and presenting the main areas of interest,with a closer look to the most up-to-date approaches and a deeper understanding of its usage in the presentday genomic landscape,shedding a light on its future developments and investigation areas.

Diversity and composition of lepidopteran microbiotas are poorly investigated, especially across the different developmental stages. To improve this knowledge, we characterize the microbiota among different developmental stages of the Indian meal moth, Plodia interpunctella, which is considered one of the major pest of commodities world-wide. Using culture-independent approach based on Illumina 16S rRNA gene sequencing we characterized the microbiota of four developmental stages: eggs, first-, and last-instar larvae, and adult. A total of 1022 bacterial OTUs were obtained, showing a quite diversified microbiota associated to all the analyzed stages. The microbiotas associated with P. interpunctella resulted almost constant throughout the developmental stages, with approximately 77% of bacterial OTUs belonging to the phylum of Proteobacteria. The dominant bacterial genus is represented by Burkholderia (?64%), followed by Propionibacterium, Delftia, Pseudomonas, and Stenotrophomonas. A core bacterial community, composed of 139 OTUs, was detected in all the developmental stages, among which 112 OTUs were assigned to the genus Burkholderia. A phylogenetic reconstruction, based on the 16S rRNA, revealed that our Burkholderia OTUs clustered with Burkholderia cepacia complex, in the same group of those isolated from the hemipterans Gossyparia spuria and Acanthococcus aceris. The functional profiling, predicted on the base of the bacterial 16S rRNA, indicates differences in the metabolic pathways related to metabolism of amino acids between preimaginal and adult stages. We can hypothesize that bacteria may support the insect host during preimaginal stages.

For long times, metallic perchlorates have been considered dangerous compounds[1] in that they function as explosives and as incontrollable ***, the fear of the great hazard connected with their manufacture and uses had prevented an extensive use both in research laboratories and in industrial processes[2].However, recently it has been cleared that this bad reputation is due to the mistaken association of metallic perchlorates with the oxidizing potential of perchloric acid and the pyrotechnic performances of NH4ClO4.

We read with great interest the study by Way et al.1 published in this journal,which described and compared the acute changes in central arterial stiffness(AS),wave reflections,and central hemodynamics(CH)in response to a bout of high-intensity interval exercise(HIIE)and moderate-intensity continuous exercise(MICE)in adults with *** authors reported a significant reduction in augmentation index(AIx)corrected by a heart rate(HR)of 75 beats/min(AIx@75)and central systolic blood pressure after HIIE,without significant changes in the pulse wave velocity(PWV).In view of this important research topic and our recent contributions to it,we would like to raise some points of discussion that might help to better elucidate the findings observed in the current study,and also suggest pertinent directions to further studies.

Background Kernza®intermediate wheatgrass is a perennial grain and forage crop that can provide several ecosystem *** research efforts focused on Kernza have taken place in high *** goal of this study was to evaluate,for the first time,the agronomic performance of Kernza in a low-latitude region with mild *** A KS-cycle 4 Kernza population(A)was planted in spring in Wisconsin,USA,and selected in one cycle for lower vernalization requirements,obtaining a new population(B).These two populations,at three nitrogen(N)fertilization rates,were evaluated in a full factorial,completely randomized field experiment in Uruguay over 2 *** The populations were similar in grain yields and flowering time in the 1st year,but population B had 63%lower grain yield in the 2nd year and 20%lower forage yield throughout the *** the N rate to 160 kg ha−1 led to a 63%increase in grain yield and 28%increase in forage yield across *** yields and nutritive values were similar to those reported in the northern ***,grain yields for both the 1st(316 kg ha−1)and 2nd year(41 kg ha−1)were lower due to reduced flowering and weed *** Expansion of Kernza to lower-latitude regions will require further breeding to improve reproductive performance.

Clinical data have strong features of complexity and multi-disciplinarity. Clinical data are generated both from the documentation of physicians＇ interactions with the patient and by diagnostic systems. During the care process, a number of different actors and roles （physicians, specialists, nurses, etc.） have the need to access patient data and document clinical activities in different moments and settings. Thus, data sharing and flexible aggregation based on different users＇ needs have become more and more important for supporting continuity of care at home, at hospitals, at outpatient clinics. In this paper, the authors identify and describe needs and challenges for patient data management at provider level and regional- （or inter-organizational-） level, because nowadays sharing patient data is needed to improve continuity and quality of care. For each level, the authors describe state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology solutions to collect, manage, aggregate and share patient data. For each level some examples of best practices and solution scenarios being implemented in the Italian Healthcare setting are described as well.
