Dietary supplementation with branchedchain amino acids enhances milk production by lactating sows and the growth of suckling piglets

Background:Under current dietary regimens,milk production by lactating sows is insufficient to sustain the maximal growth of their *** precursors of glutamate and glutamine as well as substrates and activators of protein synthesis,branched-chain amino acids(BCAAs)have great potential for enhancing milk production by ***:Thirty multiparous sows were assigned randomly into one of three groups:control(a corn-and soybean meal-based diet),the basal diet+1.535%BCAAs;and the basal diet+3.07%*** ratio(g/g)among the supplemental l-isoleucine,l-leucine and l-valine was 1.00:2.56:*** were made isonitrogenous by the addition of appropriate amounts of *** sows had free access to drinking water and their respective *** number of live-born piglets was standardized to 9 per sow at d 0 of lactation(the day of parturition).On d 3,15 and 29 of lactation,body weights and milk consumption of piglets were measured,and blood samples were obtained from sows and piglets 2 h and 1 h after feeding and nursing,***:Feed intake did not differ among the three groups of *** of asparagine,glutamate,glutamine,citrulline,arginine,proline,BCAAs,and many other amino acids were greater(Plasma of BCAA-supplemented sows and their piglets than those in the control *** with the control,dietary supplementation with 1.535%and 3.07%BCAAs increased(Plutamate plus glutamine,aspartate plus asparagine,and many other amino acids in milk;milk production by 14%and 21%,respectively;daily weight gains of piglets by 19%and 28%,respectively,while reducing preweaning mortality rates by 50%and 70%,***:Dietary supplementation with up to 3.07%BCAAs enhanced milk production by lactating sows,and the growth and survival of their piglets.

Conjugated luminescent polymers and oligomers, exhibiting stimulated emission(SE), are dispersed in polymethylmethacrylate(PMMA), films and optical fibers,either by blending or upon copolymerisation. With this PMMA doping, we aim to achieve gain and ultrafast optical switching. The modification of the dopant's chemical structure allows the tuning of the SE spectral region. Furthermore, we aim to achieve dopant chain isolation while maximising their concentration. In this paper, we present an overview of the research done in this area in the context of the European Union(EU)-funded research project “plastic optical fibers with embedded active polymers for data communications——POlYCOM”.

Vanadium mineralization at los Chihuidos deposit of the Neuquén Basin is linked to the development of a redox front system related to the inflow of hydrocarbons into the red sandstone of the Huincul *** of hydrocarbons with oxidized red beds and connate water generated redox reactions where hematite was dissolved due to iron reduction resulting in the discoloration of the red *** the contact between oxidized red sandstone and reduced white sandstone,precipitation of specific mineral phases resulted in the V ore with minor amounts of *** the implementation of the redox interface,abundant V-montmorillonite and V-hematite precipitated at the more oxidizing conditions and Cu-V-corrensite-type at the more reducing conditions of the redox *** the redox front advanced with fluids constantly migrating into the reservoir,more reducing conditions were stablished,promoting chloritization and minor illitization with V-Cu incorporation and continuous upgrading of the *** ore mineralogy consists of clay minerals including V-bearing montmorillonite,Cu-V-corrensite-type,V-di-trioctahedral chlorite and Cu-tri-trioctahedral chlorite with minor V-illite-smectite mixed-layer minerals and associated secondary *** over illitization was favored due to high amounts of Fe and Mg in detrital clasts and in connate fluids and by low K availability related to low amounts of detrital *** spatial transition of V and/or Cu bearing clay minerals observed through the mineralized redox front at los Chihuidos deposit(kaolinite→smectite→illite/smectite→corrensite-type→di-trioctahedral-chlorite→tri-trioctahedral-chlorite)and the related variation of V-Cu concentrations in bulk rock are indicative of increasing pH and decreasing Eh of resident solutions from red to white sandstones during the hypogene mineralization *** influx of Cu-rich oxidized basinal brines precipitated main copper ore with Cu-sulfides in the white sandst

In the last years,colorectal cancer(CRC)has been increasing substantially in developing *** the consumption of fat and meat have been linked with increased CRC risk,fruits intake can be *** addition,since CRC’s chemotherapy may be accompanied with adverse effects,natural plant products have been postulated as alternative or complementary therapeutic *** fruits are rich sources of bioactive compounds,mainly phenolic compounds,with antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,and anticancer benefits,thus,future candidates for CRC ***,this narrative review aims to present and discuss the potential of native Brazilian fruits(e.g.,açaí,cocoa,jaboticaba,passionfruit)on *** studies performed from 2001 to present were ***-rich powders and extracts from Brazilian fruits are the most promising products for CRC *** with açaí(Euterpe oleracea)and cocoa(Theobroma cacao)are more numerous and their effects on CRC models in vitro and in vivo are demonstrated with more complexity in terms of molecular *** main signaling pathways modulated by the effects of native Brazilian fruits,so far studied on CRC,are associated with:***(B-cell lymphoma 2-and caspase 3-related proteins),***(pro-inflammatory interleukins and enzymes),and *** stress(antioxidant enzymes).In addition,adhesion molecules and nuclear factor kappa B have been shown to be downregulated,which can interfere positively in several cellular processes,including proliferation,angiogenesis,and *** investigation of signaling pathways of great relevance for CRC initiation and progression is still necessary.

Aims:We aimed to compare cancer survivors’fatigue expression with that of the general population and examine psychobiological factors associated with ***:In this quantitative,transversal study,we analyzed clinical and sociodemographic indicators of 389 participants(68.38%females):148 cancer survivors on active treatment,55 disease-free survivors,75 patients with another chronic disease,and 111 healthy ***:Fatigue was expressed dissimilarly in patients with a previous history of cancer and participants without a history of *** on active treatment reported significantly higher levels of fatigue than the other clinical status ***,some level of cancer-related fatigue persisted,in a similar pattern,after active treatment into the survivorship ***-free survivors showed significantly lower vigor levels when compared to patients with other chronic *** distress and daytime sleepiness emerged as transdiagnostic factors associated with ***:Cancer-related fatigue may have a unique pattern,characterized by reduced endurance and muscle *** the present study,psychological distress and daytime sleepiness are associated with cancer-related *** findings suggest the pertinence of future studies examining whether interventions targeting those factors may help manage this burdensome complaint.

Effect of water matrices on removal of veterinary pharmaceuticals by nanofiltration and reverse osmosis membranes

This study explored the removal of five veterinary pharmaceuticals （VPs）（sulfamethoxazole （SMETOX）, trimethoprim （TMP）, ciprofloxacin （CIPRO）, dexamethasone （DEXA） and febantel （FEBA）） from different water matrices （Milli-Q water, model water, tap water and real pharmaceutical wastewater using four types of nanofiltration （NF） membranes （NF90, NF270, NF and Hl） and two reverse osmosis （RO） membranes （lFC-1 and XlE）. All VPs were added to different water matrices at a concentration of 10 mg/l. Rejections of VPs and water flux were measured. The rejection increased with increase of molecular weight. The highest rejections were obtained with RO membranes （lFC-1, XlE） and tight NF （NF90） membrane. In general, the rejection of VPs was higher in model water and tap water than in Milli-Q water, but the water flux was lower. This was mainly explained by ion adsorption inside the membranes pores. Narrower pore size counteracted the effect of presence of low concentration of natural organic matter （NOM） in tap water. The NOM was assumed to enhance the adsorption of VPs onto membrane surface, increased the size exclusion and electrostatic repulsion also appeared during the transport. Investigated water matrices had influence on water flux decline due to their complexity.

Nervous system emerges from complex signaling interactions where extrinsic (neurotransmitters and trophic factors, among others) and intrinsic factors (transcription factors) interplay in the developing tissue to control gene activity promoting chronic changes in cell genesis, migration, differentiation and death. The retinal microenvironment is regulated by a broad variety of chemicals, including endocannabinoids and nucleotides that modulate embryonic progenitor-neuron-Müller glia signaling in very early developing or pathophysiological conditions.
