The present study was conducted to investigate the ability of Saccharomyces cerevisiae RC016(Sc)-based feed additive to reduce liver toxicity,residual aflatoxin B1(AFB1)levels and influence intestinal structure in broiler chickens fed chronic aflatoxin B1-contaminated diets.A total of 100 one-day-old male commercial line(Ross)broiler chickens were divided into 4 treatments,with 5 pens per treatment and 5 broiler chickens per *** were randomly assigned to 4 treatments,which were namely treatment 1(T1),control diet(CD);T2,CD+Sc at 1 g/kg;T3,CD+AFB1 at 100μg/kg;T4,CD+Sc at 1 g/kg+AFB1 at100μg/*** liver histopathology of broiler chickens fed diets with AFB1 showed diffused microvacuolar fatty *** addition of Sc showed normal hepatocytes similar to the *** small intestine villi from AFB1 group showed atrophy,hyperplasia of goblet cells,prominent inflammatory infiltrate and *** contrast,the small intestine villi from birds that received the yeast plus AFB1 showed an absence of inflammatory infiltrate,and atrophy;moreover,a lower number of goblet cells compared to the groups with AFB1 was *** morphometric intestine studies showed that a significant decrease(P0.05),there was a tendency to improve these *** residual levels of AFB1 in livers were significantly reduced(P<0.05)in the presence of the *** present work demonstrated that the addition of Sc alone or in combination with AFB1 in the broiler chicken diets had a beneficial effect in counteracting the toxic effects of AFB1 in livers besides improving the histomorphometric parameters and modulating the toxic effect of AFB1 in the intestine.

Background:Capacitation is a set of physiological changes sperms undergo to acquire fertilizing *** vivo,this process is directly associated with high calcium levels in sperm ***,the vitamin D hypercalcemic metabolite,is related to human sperm motility,capacitation,and acrosome *** work aimed to study the effect of calcitriol on bull sperm quality parameters and ***:One million freezethawed spermatozoa were obtained from different bulls and treated with 20 nM of calcitriol for 30 *** cells(negative control)and treated ones with calcitriol or heparin(100μg/mL,positive capacitation control)were evaluated for motility,viability,and functional ***(70μM,30 min)treatment was included as a reactive oxygen species(ROS)positive sperm ***:The results elucidated that sperm exposed to 20 nM calcitriol showed higher viability,vigor,and capacitation than their positive and negative *** percentage of sperm with intact plasma and acrosome membranes,mitochondrial membrane potential(ΔΨm),and phosphatidylserine externalization was similar in all the conditions evaluated,while ROS production was higher with heparin and menadione-treated groups than the calcitriol group or negative ***:Our results indicate that calcitriol induces the capacitation of thawed bull spermatozoa and maintains acceptable values of progressive motility,viability,and vigor without altering key biological parameters such as redox status,ΔΨm,and cell death.

Extensins （EXTs） are highly repetitive plant O-glycoproteins that require several post-translational modifi- cations （PTMs） to become functional in plant cell walls. First, they are hydroxylated on contiguous proline residues; then they are O-glycosylated on hydroxyproline and serine. After secretion into the apoplast, O-glycosylated EXTs form a tridimensional network organized by inter- and intra-Tyr linkages. Recent studies have made significant progress in the identification of the enzymatic machinery required to process EXTs, which includes prolyl 4-hydroxylases, glycosyltransferases, papain-type cysteine endopeptidases, and peroxidases. EXTs are abundant in plant tissues and are particularly important in rapidly expanding root hairs and pollen tubes, which grow in a polar manner. Small changes in EXT PTMs affect fastgrowing cells, although the molecular mechanisms underlying this regulation are unknown. In this review, we highlight recent advances in our understanding of EXT modifications throughout the secretory pathway, EXT assembly in cell walls, and possible sensing mechanisms involving the Catharanthus roseus cell surface sensor receptor-like kinases located at the interface between the apoplast and the cytoplasmic side of the plasma membrane.

A compiled selected literature on some groups of microfossils of the Mesozoic and Cenozoic of the James Ross Basin,eastern Antarctic Peninsula,is presented here,in order to show how the microbiota has been modified over time,triggered by environmental *** analyzed microfossils consist of palynomorphs(mostly pollen grains,spores,and dinoflagellate cysts),foraminifers and *** cysts and pollen-spores have been recorded in Jurassic to Pleistocene sedimentary *** cysts proved to be good indicators for productivity and/or nutrient availability,surface water temperature and chemistry,the position of ancient shorelines and paleoceanographic *** and spores allowed reconstruction of floral community and thus characterization of the climate that prevailed on the ***,recovered from the Lower Cretaceous to the Pleistocene sedimentary rocks,provided information about the bathymetry,showing different marine settings(e.g.,coastal,inner neritic,outer neritic,upper bathyal)in different *** bryozoan record is restricted to the *** colonial growth-forms reflect several environmental conditions such as shallow waters with a low rate of sedimentation,hard substrate and moderate or strong current action for the analyzed *** study of the Antarctic ecosystems based on the fossil microbiota and their response to the climate and the continental configuration changes,allowed understanding of the composition and dynamics of the polar environments,which have an important role in the Earth climate.

Tissue innervation is a complex process controlled by the expression profile of signaling molecules secreted by tissue-resident cells that dictate the growth and guidance of *** innervation is part of the neuronal network of the bone tissue with a defined spatiotemporal occurrence during bone ***,the current understanding of the mechanisms regulating the map of sensory innervation in the bone tissue is still ***,we demonstrated that differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells to osteoblasts leads to a marked impairment of their ability to promote axonal growth,evidenced under sensory neurons and osteoblastic-lineage cells *** mechanisms by which osteoblast lineage cells provide this nonpermissive environment for axons include paracrine-induced repulsion and loss of neurotrophic factors *** identified a drastic reduction of NGF and BDNF production and stimulation of Sema3A,Wnt4;and Shh expression culminating at late stage of OB *** noted a correlation between Shh expression profile,OB differentiation stages,and OB-mediated axonal *** of Shh activity and signaling reversed the repulsive action of osteoblasts on sensory ***,to strengthen our model,we localized the expression of Shh by osteoblasts in bone ***,our findings provide evidence that the signaling profile associated with osteoblast phenotype differentiating program can regulate the patterning of sensory innervation,and highlight osteoblast-derived Shh as an essential player in this cue-induced regulation.

The effects of brassinosteroid signaling on shoot and root development have been characterized in great detail but a simple consistent positive or negative impact on a basic cellular parameter was not *** this study,we combined digital 3D single-cell shape analysis and single-cell mRNA sequencing to charac-terize root meristems and mature root segments of brassinosteroid-blind mutants and wild *** resul-tant datasets demonstrate that brassinosteroid signaling affects neither cell volume nor cell proliferation ***,brassinosteroid signaling is essential for the precise orientation of cell division planes and the extent and timing of anisotropic cell ***,we found that the cell-aligning effects of brassinosteroid signaling can propagate to normalize the anatomy of both adjacent and distant brassinosteroid-blind cells through non-cell-autonomous functions,which are sufficient to restore growth ***,single-cell transcriptome data discern directly brassinosteroid-responsive genes from genes that can react non-cell-autonomously and highlight arabinogalactans as sentinels of brassinosteroid-dependent anisotropic cell expansion.

Biliary tract cancer, or cholangiocarcinoma, comprises a heterogeneous group of malignant tumors that can emerge at any part of the biliary tree. This group is the second most common type of primary liver cancer. Diagnosis is usually based on symptoms, which may be heterogeneous, and nonspecific biomarkers in serum and biopsy specimens, as well as on imaging techniques. Endoscopy-based diagnosis is essential, since it enables biopsy specimens to be taken. In addition, it can help with locoregional staging of distal tumors. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is a key technique for the evaluation and treatment of malignant biliary tumors. Correct staging of cholangiocarcinoma is essential in order to be able to determine the degree of resectability and assess the results of treatment. The tumor is staged based on the TNM classification of the American Joint Committee on Cancer. The approach will depend on the classification of the tumor. Thus, some patients with early-stage disease could benefit from surgery;complete surgical resection is the cornerstone of cure. However, only a minority of patients are diagnosed in the early stages and are suitable candidates for resection. In the subset of patients diagnosed with locally advanced or metastatic disease, chemotherapy has been used to improve outcome and to delay tumor progression. The approach to biliary tract tumors should be multidisciplinary, involving experienced endoscopists, oncologists, radiologists, and surgeons.

Introduction: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a minimally invasive procedure for diagnosis and treatment of biliary and pancreatic diseases. Even in the best hands, complications may occur. Clinically significant hemorrhagic complications associated usually to previous papillotomy are uncommon. Subcapsular hepatic hematoma is excepcional, with only twenty cases described. We present a case of a 52-year-old man who developed a large subcapsular liver hematoma following a therapeutic ERCP. Due to serious anemization and hemodynamic instability, arterial embolization and finally urgent surgical evacuation of the hematoma were performed. In the postoperative period the patient presented infection of the collection, which indicated colocation of percutaneous drainage and broad-spectrum intravenous antibiotics, and gradually recovered.

Cysteine occupies a central position in plant metabolism because it is a reduced sulfur donor moleculeinvolved in the synthesis of essential biomolecules and defense compounds. Moreover, cysteine per se and its deriva-tive molecules play roles in the redox signaling of processes occurring in various cellular compartments. Cysteine issynthesized during the sulfate assimilation pathway via the incorporation of sulfide to O-acetylserine, catalyzed byO-acetylserine（thiol）lyase （OASTL）. Plant cells contain OASTLs in the mitochondria, chloroplasts, and cytosol, resultingin a complex array of isoforms and subcellular cysteine pools, in recent years, significant progress has been made inArabidopsis, in determining the specific roles of the OASTLs and the metabolites produced by them. Thus, the dis-covery of novel enzymatic activities of the less-abundant, like DES1 with L-cysteine desulfhydrase activity and SCSwith S-sulfocysteine synthase activity, has provided new perspectives on their roles, besides their metabolic ***, the research has been demonstrated that cytosolic sulfide and chloroplastic S-sulfocysteine act as signalingmolecules regulating autophagy and protecting the photosystems, respectively. In the cytosol, cysteine plays an essentialrole in plant immunity; in the mitochondria, this molecule plays a central role in the detoxification of cyanide, which isessential for root hair development and plant responses to pathogens.
