Protective Effect of Sweet Potato Peel against Oxidative Stress in Hyperlipidemic Albino Rats

In the present investigation, the valorization of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) wastes into food application with health benefits was studied. Growing interest in the replacement of synthetic food antioxidants by natural ones has fostered research on vegetable sources and screening of raw materials to identify new antioxidants. Different parts of sweet potato contain various phenolic activities. The sweet potato peel had the highest antioxidant activity as compared to other parts. It was reported that sweet potato contains bioactive compounds such as Flavonoids, Polyphenols, The present study was executed to exam.ne the antioxidant components of sweet potato peel and their addition to fermented cow’s milk to improve lipid profile in rats fed high fat diet. Fermented milk was prepared from cow’s milk fortified with 1% and 2% of sweet potato peels (SPP), before inoculation with starter culture containing (S. thermophilus TH4, L. acidophilus La5 and L. bulgaricus). It was found that addition of SPP had no significant effects on the sensory attributes (appearance, body, texture, and flavor) as compared to the control samples. Increasing the percentage of SPP resulted in a decrease in the viscosity of the fermented milk. When SPP powder was included in the diet and fed to rats, there was a significant decrease in the activities of serum transam.nases (ALT and AST). Results also showed that the fermented milk administration to hyperlipidemic/hyper-cholesterolemic rats induced a significant decrease in the total cholesterol, LDL, protein and triglycerides, and a significant increase in HDL concentration. Histopathological exam.nation showed that groups fed with SPP blended fermented milk showed less pathological changes compared to the positive control group. The main results indicated that there is a high potential for sweet potato peel extract to be utilized as antioxidant in food systems due to its high phenolic contents. Highly Efficient method for Solving Parabolic PDE with nonlocal Boundary Conditions

In this work, a highly efficient algorithm is developed for solving the parabolic partial differential equation (PDE) with the nonlocal condition. For this purpose, we employ orthogonal Chelyshkov polynomials as the basis. The convergence analysis of the proposed scheme is derived. numerical experiments are carried out to explain the efficiency and precision of the proposed scheme. Furthermore, the reliability of the scheme is verified by comparisons with assured existing methods.

Structural & magnetic Characterizations of niLiZn nanoferrites Synthesized by Co-precipitation method

Synthesis of ***（0.5-x）Fe204 nanoparticles with x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 were realized via coprecipitation method. X-ray diffraction （XRD） and vibrating sample magnetometer （VSm） measurements were performed on the samples to determine the characteristics of the crystal structures and the magnetic properties of the samples, respectively. The spinel phase structures of the samples were confirmed by XRD analysis. Patterns of decreased lattice parameter and increased crystallite size values were observed by increasing the Li concentration at longer synthesis reaction periods. Similarly, for the magnetic properties, both the saturation magnetization （ms） and coercivity （Hc） were found to vary with increasing patterns at higher Li doping levels and longer synthesis reaction periods. The results and mechanisms concerned were discussed.

Phytochemistry of the essential oil of melissa officinalis L. growing wild in morocco: preventive approach against nosocomial infections

Objective: To determine the phytochemical characterization and antibacterial activity of melissa oi cinalis essential oil against bacteria responsible for nosocomial ***: The phytochemical characterization of essential oil was evaluated using gas chromatography-flame ionization detector and gas chromatography-mass spectrometer analysis. Antibacterial activity of the oil was tested against four bacterial strains responsible for nosocomial infections: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, Staphylococcus aureus and Citrobacter koseri using disc dif usion ***: Thirty three components were identified representing 89.30% of the total oil composition. The yield of essential oil was 0.4% and the predominant components were citronellal(14.40%), isogeraniol(6.40%), geraniol acetate(10.20%), nerol acetate(5.10%), caryophyllene(8.10%) and β-caryophyllene oxide(11.00%). Antibacterial activity of the oil showed the higher activity against all bacterial strains ***: The essential oil extracted from lemon balm can be used to clean the environment of reanimation polyvalent and anesthesia service.

Structure, electrical Resistivity and Superconductivity of Lowalloyed γ-U Phase Retained to Low Temperatures by means of Rapid Cooling

The γ-U phase alloys can be retained down to low temperatures with less required alloying concentration by using the splat-cooling technique with a cooling rate better than 10^6 K/s. Doping with 15 at.% mo, Pt, Pd, nb leads to a stabilization of the cubic γ-U phase, while it requires much higher Zr concentrations （≥30 at.% Zr）. All U-T splats become superconducting with Tc in the range of 0.61-2.11 K. A good agreement of the experimentally observed specific-heat jump at Tc with that from BCS theory prediction was obtained for U-15 at.% mo consisting of the γ-U phase with an ideal bcc A2 structure.

BACKGROUnD Little is known about health status and quality of life(QoL)after implantable cardioverter-defibrillator(ICD)generator exchange(GE).mETHODS We prospectively followed patients undergoing first-time ICD *** assessments of health status were performed by administering the 36-Item Short Form Survey(SF-36).RESULTS mean age was 67.5±14.3 years,left ventricle ejection fraction(LVEF)was 36.5%±15.0%and over 40%of the cohort had improved LVEF to>35%at the time of ***-36 scores were significantly worse in physical/general health domains compared to domains of emotional/social well-being(Pmparison).Physical health scores were significantly worse am.ng those with medical comorbidities including diabetes,chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and atrial *** follow-up was 1.6±0.5 years after *** SF-36 scores remained stable across all domains during *** at 3 years post-GE was estimated at 80%.Five patients died during follow-up and most deaths were adjudicated as non-arrhythmic in *** patients experienced appropriate ICD shocks after GE,three of whom had LVEF which remains impaired LVEF(i.e.,me of *** Patients undergoing ICD GE have significantly worse physical health compared to emotional/social well-being,which is associated with the presence of medical *** terms of clinical outcomes,the incidence of appropriate shocks after GE am.ng those with improvement in LVEF is very low,and most deaths post-procedure appear to be non-arrhythmic in *** data represent an attempt to more fully characterize the spectrum of QoL and clinical outcomes after GE.

Helicobacter pylori may be an initiating factor in newly diagnosed ulcerative colitis patients: A pilot study

AIm To directly visualize Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) by the highly sensitive and specific technique of immunohistochemical staining in colonic tissue from patients newly diagnosed with ulcerative colitis(UC).mETHODS Colonoscopic biopsies from thirty patients with newly diagnosed UC and thirty controls were stained with Giemsa stain and immunohistochemical stain for detection of H. pylori in the colonic tissue. Results were confirmed by testing H. pylori Ag in the stool then infected patients were randomized to receive either anti H. pylori treatment or *** Twelve/30(40%) of the UC patients were positive for H. pylori by Giemsa, and 17/30(56.6%) by immunohistochemistry stain. am.ng the control group 4/30(13.3%) and 6/30(20 %) were positive for H. pylori by Giemsa and immunohistochemistry staining respectively. H. pylori was significantly higher in UC than in controls(P = 0.04 and 0.007). All Giemsa positive patients and controls were positive by immunohistochemical stain. Four cases of the control group positive for H. pylori also showed microscopic features consistent with early *** H. pylori can be detected in colonic mucosa of patients with UC and patients with histological superficial ulcerations and mild infiltration consistent with early UC. There seems to be an association between UC and presence of H. pylori in the colonic tissue. Whether this is a causal relationship or not remains to be discovered.

Biochemical Changes Associated with Long Term Exposure to Pesticide am.ng Farmers in the Gaza Strip

The study characterized the biochemical changes associated with long term exposure to pesticides. Practical parameters of pesticides were collected using 500 questionnaires. Farmers having 10 years working period were invited to a private clinic for blood sampling and enzyme analysis. All participants were male farmers of different age groups, and education levels. Occupational parameters indicated that majority of farmers used manual methods for pesticide works. About 130 pesticides are currently used in Gaza. Toxicological symptoms indicated that dizziness, headache, and nausea were dominant am.ng farmers, whereas vomiting abdominal colic and tearing were less dominant. Acetyl Cholinesterase (ACHE) cumulatively inhibited am.ng farmers after work whereas Alanine am.notransferase (ALT), Aspartate am.notransferase (AST) and Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) activities were above range after long term exposure. It can be concluded that long term exposure to pesticides may damage liver and kidney cells resulting in hepatic-toxicity and/or nephrotoxicity.
